but seriously tho.... LET'S DDR!!!!! XD

Kanna_Karasu_Kamio 07-14-2010 04:33 PM

Actually, that would be cute. Much better than Sardine Smash. -.- I can't hit ANYTHING in that game.

Hatake Ayumi 07-14-2010 06:26 PM

It costs a lot of money and time to make games. And we just got a new game. New games have been discussed before, just wait and see.

Codette 07-14-2010 06:36 PM

Hatake is right. Takes a lot of time and money and there are copy right problems to think of. I think we should be greatful we have games at all!

The Wandering Poet 07-14-2010 09:43 PM

I think that would be fun... but menewsha honestly doesn't have the funds to pop out game after game nor the time to program a game in the near future, as one just came out.

Copyrights would be a problem like was said... so the game would likely have to be severely tweaked... so it wouldn't look like stepmania at all, an likely would have to play differently... plus they'd likely have to pay the song artists as well to use their songs in the game?

RainHitosha 07-16-2010 12:18 PM

i guess i didnt think of that... but still maybe someday this site could have a cute game similar to step mania. i really think ppl would like it ^^ maybe not now but perhaps in the future that could be taken into consideration??

RainHitosha: I find the idea of a DDR style game on a keyboard really odd. Maybe you can sell the idea to me a little more?

Theres an internet game called 'Flash Flash Revolution' which is DDR using the keyboard arrow buttons.

RainHitosha 07-16-2010 12:45 PM

well i just play ddr but a friend recommended a game called step mania and told me it was a game that you play on the computer and use the arrow keys on the keyboard instead of a dance pad. rather than step mania, i think alot of people would have fun playing a cute game similar to step mania on this site because its not too difficult and its very entertaining. ive found people on this site who love ddr and i think that this game could be popular. just find a few different kinds of songs to chose from and maybe a few difficulty levels to chose from.. or start out the first song with an easy difficulty level, the next song a bit more difficult, and make it more challenging as new songs play and as you get farther, the more points you earn. its just a suggestion tho but i really think people would enjoy it

Insomniac 07-16-2010 12:48 PM

Interesting. DDR isn't my kind of game so I have to be open minded to those it would interest. Thanks for the input!

RainHitosha 07-16-2010 12:56 PM

I played a game like that before using the keyboard, I failed so epically it is unreal

StepMania was popular because you could use your own music and make your own levels. You could also hook up a dance pad via USB and play.

Flash Flash and the other games that aren't downloadable weren't as popular, and DDR's popularity in general has been steadily declining since the introduction of Guitar Hero and Rock Band.

Google Trends: dance dance revolution, rock band, guitar hero

(this one more clearly shows the declining trend: http://www.google.com/trends?q=dance...ate=all&sort=0 )

I imagine that a Menewshan DDR would require a lot of work, especially since you need a catalogue of songs to play (playing the same three songs over and over gets tiring very quickly). Unless Mene wants to fork out some serious royalties, that means that they'd have to compose their own music, and that takes a lot of time, which might not be worth it for something that's on its way out the door.

Don't get me wrong, I love DDR, and I still play it at home. I also have StepMania for when I'm feeling lazy. I simply think that there are better games that require a lot less work that Mene could make.

That's pretty much what I was thinking. What makes games like that fun is a catalogue of fun music to do your "steps" to.

Gaia rolled out a similar game for their prom events. They had a limited catalogue that got really old really fast. And even using royalty free music, I'm sure there's still a base fee to pay. And the more songs you add to the game, the bigger it's going to get.
