It's like: Do you own the copywrite? No. So stop worrying about it. It's not your job. And it's not like NBC and their team of lawyers are going to go bananas over a strange fanfic.

Or broken some kind of copywrite law.

Any fan piece, by technicality, is a copywrite infringement if they reason like that.

And by that line of reasoning, graphic art using photography or screencaps is even more of a copywrite infringement than fanart and fanfiction.

I bet I get flamed for posting the opposing viewpoint just because so many of them can't accept weird fanfiction/ alternate universe. That and nobody likes being schooled in logic.

I'm still trying to get my mind wrapped around this attempted reasoning I'm seeing.
This is how I'm breaking it down.

*SVU forum is full of people with SVU graphic arts. This is just something to keep in mind.
*There's a huge shitstorm in the fanfiction thread about copywrite infringement.
*And how non-out of character stories have no bearing on CI and OOC stories do. (???)
*But based on this line of reasoning, then, wouldn't fan art, fan fiction, and graphic arts using screencaps(and photomanipulations) ALL be copywrite infringement based on a technicality.

Am I right or am I wrong?
