Ezio grimaced before he nodded, climbing up easily before settling himself on the dragon's back. Well, that part hadn't been so bad at least.
Belle just grinned and got up as well. Finally, back to town and nice hot water. |
Once everyone was settled, Andy nicked the scales at the base of Temeraire's shoulders.
"Twelve miles north-northwest, Temmy," she called. "Alright," Temeraire replied, spreading his wings and shaking them a bit to settle the harness before taking off. |
Belle was accustomed by now, but Ezio swore in Italian when the dragon took off. But he hadn't totally freaked out, which Belle counted as a plus.
She could almost see him getting used to flying and being able to go walk around. Almost. |
Harry also let loose a rather impressive string of expeletives, although not as creative as Ezio's sounded. Harry took it well, though, and calmed down for the most part after the first few minutes of flying.
|
Ezio didn't like flying, but it wasn't as bad as it sounded. He had hand holds, and it wasn't jerky or crazy and he didn't have to fly over fire to get higher. Overall, better than his experience with Leo's flying machine.
|
Andy had Temeraire land about half a mile outside of the town and waited until everyone was down again before recalling the dragon.
"You can disappear now if you want," she said to Harry. He nodded and did so, trying to hide how shaky he was back on solid ground. She glanced at Ezio. "Better now?" |
Ezio had actually fared a little better than Harry, since he had some much less pleasant experiences flying. "Si, signora."
Belle just grinned. Oh man she loved having an Italian around. Now they needed an Aussie and a Scot... |
Andy was thinking something along the same lines.
"We need someone played by Gerard Butler," she commented to Belle in a low voice. "He's got a fantastic Scottish accent. And we need a Liam Neeson somewhere in there, he's just got an amazing voice." |
"Seriously!" Belle smiled. "We'll have to make lists of everything they've been in. Although it might be kind of hilarious to have an Erik from Phantom hanging around..."
|
"Oh god that would be so weird," Andy replied. "That's just so far outside of our typical genre."
|
"I know. And if we stayed anywhere even semi-permanently you know we'd have booby traps all over the place."
|
Andy snorted.
"That wouldn't surprise me," she said. She pulled out her dex as they got closer to the gate to town. |
"Just think of the amusement potential." Belle got out her own dex, letting the guard examine it before she headed into the town. "Now, one room or two?"
|
This time, Andy actually considered the question.
"Two, I think," she said after a moment. "I think our groups are big enough now to need it." That, and she kind of wanted to share the room with Sess, although she wouldn't admit that aloud at the moment. |
"That works." Belle was perfectly fine with that. And since their groups kept expanding, it made sense to her.
Although she wouldn't mind kicking everyone out into their PD rooms to have some alone time with Eclipse, either. |
Andy suspected Belle agreed to the two rooms for the same reason Andy wanted them, but didn't comment. Don't ask, don't tell, after all.
"Then let's go do that, and then we can see what's around in town," she said. |
Belle nodded and headed for the nearest hotel, which was a little nicer than the ones they normally stayed in, but she didn't mind. It wasn't that expensive, really, and she still had plenty of money.
|
Andy didn't mind, either. She had plenty of money as well, and really, she could pick a few battles for more later on. It was a little weird getting her own room after sharing one for so long, but it wasn't the first time she'd ever done so.
|
Belle got her room key and made her way up to her room, going and taking her shoes off first. Shower first, then laundry, then supplies. She already had her list, so she had what she needed. Yawning briefly, she moved into the bathroom to go shower.
|
In her own room, Andy left her group to duke out sleeping arrangements while she went for a shower. She felt grimy and nasty from being on the road for a while, and she desperately wanted to get clean again.
|
"Oh that feels so much better." Belle sighed happily when she emerged from the bathroom, clean and in clean clothes (she always kept one set around for going into town). She blinked when she found Thomas, Sebastian, and Teaser going through her clothes and sorting them into the "clean-ish" pile and the "need to be washed like yesterday" pile. "Thanks, guys."
"Our pleasure." Thomas grinned. And if he managed to hide the fact that he was holding a pair of her panties, well, he could be sneaky when he wanted. |
Andy was surprised to find her own clothes already sorted when she came out of the bathroom as well, along with a few that she knew for a fact weren't hers. She did, however, recognize them.
"That's not really subtle," she commented to her group. Briar and Cal both just shrugged. So sue them, they didn't do laundry. Andy rolled her eyes but dumped the clothes to be washed into a bag and went to go look for the industrial washers. |
Niko watched the whole thing before snorting quietly. He could do his own laundry, thank you very much. Now that they were in town he planned on looking around and seeing if he couldn't find a few decent blades, since he only had four on him at the moment.
Belle managed to gather up laundry from whoever needed it done before setting it off to the side, just for the moment, and getting her lists out so she wouldn't just be walking around looking at stuff. "Okay. Teaser, you get to sit and watch laundry to make sure no one does anything until I get back." "Why me?" "Because there will people going in and out all day who you can flirt with." "Done!" Teaser grinned and Thomas surruptitiously moved over next to Teaser. Belle just rolled her eyes. |
Andy had already set up her laundry-sentry, making Cal sit there and keep an eye on things ("Why do I have to do it?" "Because you get to sit there and be lazy, now shut up and do it."), and was going over her list of things she needed in town. She needed another few pairs of jeans, although her boots were still in good shape, and she needed more nonperishables for her stash. Once she had a list, she went and knocked on Belle's door.
|
Belle looked up from her own list, having made a few adjustments, and opened the door. "Hey. What's up?"
