"Oddly, I have to agree," Andy replied. "At least a little. I certainly liked Sophie better, at least."
"Sophie was a much more interesting character in the book. My favorite chapter is "In Which Sophie Expresses her Feelings with Weed Killer"." Belle grinned.
"I loved the chapter titles in that book, they were so amusing," Andy said.
"They were the best! You know there are two more books, right? Not nearly as good, but still fun."
"I tried to read the second one, I think," Andy replied. "Something ended up distracting me, and I kind of fell out of it."
"Yeah. The second one is mostly boring until the last five chapters or so, and the third book is cute. I'd recommend that one."
"I think I remember what series distracted me, too," Andy said. She sent a pointed glance at Lucivar and Kaelas.
Belle laughed. "Oh, I've done that many a time before. I've read several series that have twenty or more books in them, and I keep bouncing around. Like I'll read four or five books, and then I'll go off to some other book or series for a while, then go back and read another two. It's fun."
"I can't just put down a series like that," Andy replied. "I need to read through as many books as I can get my hands on before I stop. Though I will admit there was a series that got so bad that I had to quit. I made myself read twelve volumes before I couldn't do it anymore."
"Really? What series?" Belle blinked, looking over at her curiously.
"Have you ever heard of the Anita Blake series by Laurel K Hamilton?" Andy asked. She shuddered. "When the main character started becoming an all-powerful Mary-Sue and assembling a seemingly-sex-starved man-harem, I ended up saying enough was enough."
"Oh, that series! Yeah, I was thinking of reading those books. You still have any of them?"
"I might," Andy said. "The first three or so were decent, but after number seven, it all just went downhill. It was about then that I started borrowing them whenever I got to town, rather than buying them."
"Yeah, I can understand that. My friends were always borrowing books from me. It got to the point that I had to make a list of all my books so that I'd know if I was missing some." Belle shook her head.
"Yeah, taking inventory is nothing new to me, either," Andy agreed. "I know on the outside there were some I never got back."
"Yup." Belle sighed. "Oh well. We have a ton of books between us, so if we ever get bored..."
"Seriously," Andy agreed. "I'm glad we're some of the literate ones. I've run into trainers where I actually had to speak in two syllables or less, it was weird."
"Yeah, I know. And the twi-tards." Belle shivered. "Twi-tards are the worst."
"And it's impossible not to run into them," Andy said. "I think they out-number everybody else." She shuddered as well. "Though I will admit I had a lapse of sanity and read the books."
"So did I. I think most people read the books. And reading the books is okay, but those people take it to a whole new level of obsession. I mean, you can have read the books, but they're so totally obsessed with them and the movies that it's insane." Belle grumbled.
"I agree completely," Andy replied, nodding. "It got even worse once they had faces to go with the names, when the movies came out..."
"The movies weren't even that good. And they certainly weren't accurate." Belle shook her head. "I remember one time I watched the movie with my friends and we made fun of it the entire time."
"I thought it was hysterical," Andy said. "It was cheesy as hell, and just as corny."
"Yup. It's very fun to make fun of, too."
"Oh yeah," Andy agreed, grinning.
