If you could write a book, what would it be about?

If you could write a book, what would it be about? Or if you are writing a book, what is it about? Romance? Mystery? Horror? Action? Adventure? Paranormal? Sci-fi...?

:)

I am currently writing a book. It's Romance/Mystery/Horror/and Action. :) I'm not good with the adventure stuff.

I have two big novels planned out right now. Both should be about three or four books long. Besides those I have several smaller novels and some short stories completely planned out.

One of the larger novels is fantasy/action while the other is sci-fi/mystery. Most of the shorter novels and short stories are fantasy with some sci-fi thrown in here and there. Fantasy, being my favorite genre to read, is my favorite genre to write as well, though I'm starting to branch out a bit.

It would be a bit of an action adventure, I don't know if romance would count, the lead is a flighty faery.

thelettervee 07-31-2010 10:21 PM

i write a lot, but have yet to really finish anything.
i tend to write romances.

one that i REALLY want to write is a more true to life kind of thing. where the character tries to find themself and goes on an adventure of self discovery. :] those kind of stories always touch my heart and i hope to do the same to someone else through a story

I make up a lot of plans for stories I want to write, but I have a hard time actually getting them written/finished when I do begin to write them.

Nearly all of my stories are fantasy or paranormal-themed. I've planned a few that were more science fiction and futuristic, but I find that type of story more difficult to write. I think I'm best with paranormal-type stories because that's what I know the most about, although I would really like to be able to write about other things as well.

I've got a couple good ideas written down/in my head. I don't think there's any one genre that I follow. But a couple of them came from scary dreams so....horror or thriller possibly?

I have a hard time finishing things. This one short story I started, though, was actually a comedy. I didn't really start out making it funny but there were times when I would work on it and seriously start laughing out loud.

You didn't have an option for "real", "autobiography" or "other." =(

I'm currently working on a manuscript based around my mother who has had bipolar disorder for twenty years and did a whole lot of things including committing serious crimes which she was never charged for - since she naturally claimed insanity.

However I spend a lot of time writing for online sites so I can get a bit of cash now, instead of having to wait on book royalties. So I'll finish my book one day!

I write romance. But I TRY to write fantasy.. It always ends up a romance, once I'm writing it's beyond control.

SheWhoShallNotBeNamed 08-05-2010 03:11 AM

I wrote this kickarse first chapter for a book but then i didn't have the motivation to continue it and when i finally did i realized the concept was a lot like a book i read a year ago. :(

Bearzy 08-06-2010 09:57 AM

Been there, done that.. it's sad.

Magician Girl Mirani 08-14-2010 11:35 AM

I've got some ideas. I love fantasy with a touch of Sci-Fi thrown in. Horror and thriller are also good and mystery is just plain awesome! Paranormal can be very good when it's well written too but I'd probably write a fantasy. I'm currently writing fanfiction so I'm sorta using that to experement with different styles and stuff, see what I like and hwat I can do and then I'll maybe start working on my own series but for the moment I'm happy with my fanfiction.

Holy Fire 08-14-2010 03:51 PM

I've got a lot of stories planned out, but they are all Sci-Fi/Fantasy. I'm incapable of writing any other genre. ^^;
I really want to finish writing out at least one of my stories, but I never get past 3 chapters; it's sad. I lose interest in the path the story is taking and end up writing many versions of it.
They used to be extremely fantasy-like with just a hint of Sci-Fi, but now it's getting more and more like the other way around.

Crimson_daffodils_Layla 08-28-2010 07:32 PM

I'm working on a couple of ideas at the moment, but I'm lacking in motivation >.<
I actually pretty much had one book written and finished when I was in 8th grade but my mom threw out the notebook it was in and looking back on it, my writing was terrible and I had some major plotholes >.<

Bearzy 08-30-2010 12:36 AM

That happened to me too... I got too caught up in finishing the story that it ended badly.

tanektoshni 08-31-2010 11:42 PM

I'd do fantasy/sci-fi/romance. I'm currently working on... something. But it died after a couple chapters. It was really cool too, I based in this dream I had.

Thalia_Winters 09-09-2010 06:06 PM

I'm currently writing a series of mystery short stories. Each one is based around a character encountered in one of the others. It's more me practicing character development, but the few who have read it already say they enjoyed it and hope to continue reading them.

Marshmallow Tea 09-12-2010 02:55 PM

Hmm, I plan on writing a novel, but I'm considering plot lines that are different, because I find that when I go to the bookstore everything is the same! I'm thinking along the lines of a Thriller/horror. (:

FluffyMuphin111 09-24-2010 11:35 PM

I have written books, though none of them published yet.
But to answer your question, I don't think it's the story that really matters, but how you feel when you read it. How attached to the characters you get, and some times -- if you're lucky -- you feel like you know everything about them, and like they're your best friend. How it takes you into a world of your own where you can forget any and all of your lifes little problems and how happy or simply calm you feel when you read a book.
Have you ever noticed how when you read a book you can forget your own life entirely, even forget you're reading a book? Well I want to be able to do that for people. Corney sounding yes, but it doesn't make it any less true.

I love to write, its a shame I can never finish what I've started. I usually write fantasy since that is my favorite genre to read about. I did try to write a mystery story, but that didn't work out too well.
I can never get past a few chapters, and then I end up rewriting it later on xD The newer version is always better, and I sometimes get one more chapter out of it. Or I remove one. >>;

Whimsical Sadist 10-12-2010 09:18 PM

Well I have several ideas and stories I've typed up already.
I mainly have like paranormal (love freaky stuff and powers), mystery, I think a bit of adventure and a little romance :)

Banshee 10-14-2010 08:42 PM

Horror mostly, but everything else is in there so, Horror/Sci-Fi/Action I guess. << ... << OH NOES!!! SCI-FI!!! * Tries to pull Sci-Fi away from the clutches of the EVIL Horror and Action *

Kitten151 10-15-2010 12:06 AM

mine would be a fantasy book

Hikari_namikaze 07-30-2011 01:35 PM

I'm trying out writing right now. I have a thing for supernatural/paranormal, but not too out of place. Like psychic abilities. That, and must-run-around sort of chase to solve everything.

As far as I know, all 3 of my (planned or not) stories have that Chase thing. Two of them is more about the psychological. One is learning about a ghost and letting go, despite how she feels for the ghost. The other is about learning how to appreciate life.

Agent HEY-LEE 08-01-2011 08:57 PM

I've had several ideas, but after awhile I'd shoot them all down. I've recently came up with one, though, that I think would work out. It'd have a heavy dose of romance, some action, and a lot of psychological questioning all mixed together. I hope I'll have a chance to work on a piece of it this Fall when I go to college.
