Yeah, that's probably what's gonna make learning Japanese harder than German. While German's word order is a pain compared to English, they at least use the same alphabet. With Japanese, you not only have to leard how to speak, pronounce, and the word order, you've also got to learn a different alphabet and way of reading!

My writing's bad enough in English, I can't imagine how bad it'll be in Japanese...

Actually after a few months studying Hiragana and Katakana writing comes naturally - It takes time sure, but once you have it, it's not that hard. Kanji though (the Chinese characters) are more difficult and there are literally thousands of them. It's not difficult really, you just have to give over a lot of time to memorization. I think that Japanese is actually a really fun language to learn - I am picking up Spanish in the spring and I'm excited for that!

I suck at languages... which is sad, because I think it's just about one of the coolest talents to speak more than one language... but I just never seem to be able to get the hang of them. I used to study French back in highschool... but not seriously, so now I hardly remember a sinlge thing.

I'd love to learn Japanese, if I had to give my first choice. I nearly started taking lessons... but I was lazy. It's hard to motivate myself for that sort of thing.

Yeah, I get it - It's hard to find motivation for things that you're not already kind of good at. (That's how I feel about German T_T).

I suck at languages too, hence why I've forgotten all my Japanese and French, <3;

I actually wanted to learn another language in the first place, so German came easily.

Yeah. then again, so does finances. finances determines whether or not you can afford to get the games and console to begin with.

Hm... that is pretty tempting. I don't know, I love playing video games but don't know much about the platform aspect, that's why I posted the question... There seems to be some love for the PS3 in this thread though...
