Rose Mouse's Art Pad - A thread to show off my casual art work
Rose Mouse's Art Pad
I've been doing some doodles and sketches here and there, so I want to share. I'm NOT looking for critique (unless specifically stated), I only want to share my drawings. ~~~ The [New] Art! It's my fiance's birthday today (July 30th) so I wanted to draw him something. It's a bunny (me) in a party hat with a noise maker in its mouth. This is the first time in a long, long time that I've drawn a realistic animal. SPOILERLast night my fiance was being very adorable, playing around, and made up a little character. I took it upon myself to draw it, this was what I ended up with. (We've yet to decide what kind of eye's it will have. Also, it's a very messy, pen sketch.) SPOILERLast week, my fiance and I were talking about the cute things babies do. I started describing how babies dance and he asked me to draw it for him. This is what I came up tonight. SPOILERI drew this one night, out of the blue. Took me 20-30 minutes. I was way out of practice and completely surprised myself! It's my own hand. SPOILERThis was the first thing I ever drew for my fiance, it has a personal meaning to us. It was originally a light sketch, but my scanner didn't pick it up. I quickly darkened the lines, not taking much care. I deeply regret that. SPOILER~~~ Old High School Pieces One thing I loved about my high school art classes, was that my teacher exposed us to so many different styles of art. This is known as Scratch Board or Scrape Board. It's paper with ink on the surface which you scrape off to make an image. This is a cute little squirrel, he was my first attempt. Referenced from a magazine photo. SPOILERThis was my second attempt at Scratch Board, the year after the first. This time, since I was "experienced", I got to use the pretty silver board! I chose a cute bear walking beside a river. SPOILERAgain the year after that, we had a new transparent, rainbow Scratch Board! The assignment was to do a self portrait using images that represent yourself and images of things you can't live without. Later, I regretted the highlighting I did on the forehead, nose and chin. SPOILEROne that was tricky was Continuous Line drawing. Basically you draw your subject without lifting the pencil from the paper... Needless to say I cheated, hehehe! This is some tall vases with sticks and twigs in and around them. SPOILERI did many Still Life Drawings. My teacher always had new displays setup in the middle of the class room for the class to draw. This is some driftwood. Many of my pieces are unfinished due to time restraints and my "dedication" to detail. SPOILERThis is another tall vase which had a twig sticking out of it. I think I was being lazy that day and when I started getting into the twig, time ran out for the vase. SPOILERAs part of any art class, I learned about gradients and shading. This was practice for both. SPOILERAnother essential of art classes, anatomy. My teacher started us with drawing parts of the face, then later the class was assigned various "full face" drawings. This was some nose practice, referenced from black and white drawings. SPOILERAt the beginning of class, our teacher would have us draw silently. Sometimes we were provided a subjects, sometimes we were free to draw what we wanted. The subject of this drawing was "Spring". The great thing about these subject was that we could interpret the subject as we wished. I thought of the season spring, gave it a shape and surrounded it with things synonymous to springtime; flowers, birds nest, spring showers. SPOILERThe subject of this drawing was "The thing you hate the most". I happened to think of crawly lizards. Bleh! SPOILERThis drawing was a "choice" drawing, a free subject whatever we liked. It's my interpretation of one of the bells from a novel, Abhorsen by Garth Nix. This is Saraneth. SPOILERAnother "choice" drawing. I must have had Ragnarok Online on the brain. This is a Drops. SPOILER~~~ Older Drawings From time to time I would draw random things. This is an "original" flower. Looks inspired by a rose. SPOILERI started drawing a cat, referencing a picture on a purse I owned. Never got to finishing it. SPOILERAnother drawing I never finished. Half a skull, referenced from a McDonald's Happy Meal Toy. SPOILERQuite a few years ago I had intended to join a Naruto RP. I started to draw my character, but didn't completed the design, didn't write a bio of the character, or even start writing in the RP. Heh, I guess I get lazy sometimes. SPOILER~~~ I will add more as I draw it or find it. (Messy room!) |
That hand and baby are very accurate. If you can draw chibis, maybe, you'll get quite the gold amount. I love the first one. xD |
I very much like it.. hands are hard to draw and you did well.
|
Thank you two very much! I'm such a downer when it comes to my own art skills.
Maybe I'll practice chibis more and set up a shop. Now I think I have some more art to draw and scan. ---------- Added more art work! |
n 3 n; I really love it. Really cute, haha. |
Good Luck Rose!
|
Thanks guys!!! :'D
|
Wow! The Scratchboard Bear looks amaaaazing and the teddy bear was really cute too. (I think you have an affinity for bears ;D)
|
Thank you so much!
Bears seem to show up a lot in my life; when I started dating my fiance, he started calling me Bunny Bunny, so I call him Teddy Bear. We always call each other Mama and Papa Bear. But yes, now I do have an affinity for bears, and rabbits! |
Added a new drawing. It's a present for my fiance's birthday today!
