"Ivysaur, Great job! Return!"

The pokemon gave a cry of its name before turning into a red ray of light and shooting into the pokéball, leaving only a fainted spearow to prove it'd ever been there at all. Opal smiled and brought the pokéball to her chest, giving it a gentle hug.

"We've been traveling for a while." She mentioned, ignoring her legs, which protested with an achy pain every time she moved. She wouldn't let them bother her because she was almost 100% sure that Ness felt the same way, but she still had a bounce in her step, her happy spark. Opal always looked up to her for that.

"My pokémon are definitely getting fatigued, but it was worth it, with all the extra training I'm sure you'll be able to defeat the next gym leader easily."

If they knew where it was...

Unfortunately, someone lost the map.

Goblin Maiden 08-01-2010 04:10 PM

Ness was by no means out of shape. She had, after all, been traveling across the the continent and back since she was a wee lass of ten years of age. But still, she had to admit (if only to herself)...

Her legs were KILLING her.

Her muscles felt as stiff as wood and lifting each foot to step in front of the other was like trying to raise cement blocks. They had been walking for HOW long now? Not to mention that huge, highly sloping hill back there...

However, she would NOT let Opal see how tired she was. She would not stop to rest until Opal, not herself, cried "uncle!" She would not quit. For Ness Archrow was no quitter. Ness Archrow was a WINNER. Ness Archrow was--

--extremely relieved to hear Opal admit to her Pokemons' fatigue.

"Well, my Pokemon are getting kind of tired, too," she told her traveling companion and friend of the past six years. "Maybe we should stop and let them rest for a while. I mean," she hastily added, "I could keep on going, but... gotta think of your Pokemon first, right? Right!"

Ness answered herself before Opal could get a word in, making her way perkily (and agonizingly) over to a convenient tree stump near the side of the road. There, she let out her Pokemon to stretch, lie around, what-have-you while she rummaged in her pack for a Potion.

Shmougie 08-01-2010 04:38 PM

Opal gave her friend a deadpan look, but said nothing. She gratefully followed her friend and plopped down on the grass, leaning against the stump that her friend sat on. After letting her pokémon out, she stared at the clear blue sky and adjusted her glasses, her coal black hair got caught in them and she sighed. She needed a haircut...

"Gee, I wish we knew where the next town was. If only we had some sort of...paper that told us how far away we were." she muttered loudly, her blue eyes still staring nonchalantly at the equally blue sky.

In the background, her Clefairy was picking berries with some of Ness' pokemon and she couldn't help but smile.

Goblin Maiden 08-01-2010 05:53 PM

"Oh, give me a break!" Ness cried out, glaring at Opal Bailey. "I told you I'm sorry already... Did you SEE the size of that Beedrill? What would have happened if it had gotten a Fury Attack in on me? So what if I dropped the map when I ran... You were running even faster than I was."

She folded her arms with a huff after finding and tossing a Potion to her Squirtle. "Go on and make sure everyone gets an equal share," she instructed him. "And don't let Ponyta hog it, okay?"

Ponyta tossed her firey mane and glared at her trainer in quite the wounded manner. Ness pointedly ignored her; of all the Ponytas in the region, why did she have to have caught a drama queen? Seriously, Ponytas were normally quiet, gentle creatures. Ness' fire horse Pokemon, on the other hand, seemed to go out of her way to be a royal pain in the--

"HEY!" The trainer yelled suddenly, shooting to sit upright. Ponyta, as if to spite everyone around her, had taken the Potion bottle into her mouth and was downright chugging the contents. Squirtle was jumping around waving his arms, desperately trying to take back the bottle, but in vain, as Ponyta was quite a bit taller than the water Pokemon. Dratini was bumping against Ponyta with his head, squealing plaintively; he was Ness' newest capture and still young for his species. Magnemite and Pidgeotto were hovering about, Magnemite fretting anxiously over the rapidly vanishing Potion, and Pidgeotto striking at the fire Pokemon with her wings, scolding loudly.

Only Abra was missing out on the action, as he was curled up at Ness' feet fast asleep.

"Quit it, horse!" Ness marched over to Ponyta and snatched the Potion out of her mouth--then jumped back with a screech as the Pokemon tried to bite her. "Why, you arrogant, vain, dramatic, good-for-nothing...!"

Shmougie 08-01-2010 06:22 PM

Opal was about to point out that it was her own fault for poking the hive, but when she mentioned that Opal ran faster her face turned bright red and she looked away. Her fear of bees was obvious to everyone, apparently.

Opal turned away from farfetch'd, Pikachu and Clefairy's berry hunt to look over at her yelling friend. A sweatdrop was apparent on the back of her head as she watched the other poor trainer fight the fire horse.

Why did they always have to fight? Deep down, Opal knew they had an understanding with each other(after all, ponyta had not once burned her trainer), but normally they fought like this. It was quite troublesome.

Opal's Gastly, to boost up the confusion, cackled and flew around the screaming group in a circle, his large tongue sticking out of his mouth. He loved chaotic energy and pranks, which is probably why he was more affectionate toward(and more liable to prank) Ness than his actual owner.

Ivysaur, more like his trainer than anything, sat at Opal's side napping. He opened one eye and shot an irritated look at the squawking mess. Opal just sighed and pat her pokemon's head.

"Gastly! Use lick!" Opal commanded, trying to help her friend by paralyzing the ponyta. Unfortunately, Gastly loved to twist his trainer's words around, floated forward and lashed his big tongue out at Ness' cheek, aiming to lick the panicking trainer instead of the spoiled horse.

Goblin Maiden 08-01-2010 07:14 PM

Ness saw Gastly zooming towards her and tried to scramble out of the way of both him and Ponyta's snapping teeth at once. Unfortunately, this resulted in her losing her balance, falling on her rear, and getting Licked full-on in the face in the process.

"EURGH. Opal, why'd you...! Oh no," she groaned, feeling the paralysis starting to kick in. "O-Opal, quick! I... n-need..."

But as to what Ness needed she never managed to get out, as her muscles were now totally paralyzed.

'Stupid Gastly,' Ness thought furiously as she lay there on the ground unable to move, her long blonde hair cascading down over her face. 'At least this paralysis doesn't stop me from breathing... Ow, I'm getting a crick in my neck...'

Ponyta, meanwhile, whinnied triumphantly and did a sort of prancing dance on the spot, her eyes positively sparking with humor and mischief well-managed. The mostly-drunk Potion bottle lay forgotten by her on the ground. Squirtle reached down, grabbed it in his paw, and proceeded to shake it in front of Ponyta's face, obviously giving the fire Pokemon a good talking-to.

"Squiiirtle. Squirtle-Squirt! Squir-Squirtle, Squirtle-tle. Squirt!"

For all his troubles, all he received was a loud raspberry in reply.

Dratini broke off whimpering pitifully and instead started cooing with laughter. Even the fussy Magnemite couldn't help chortling at the look on Squirtle's face. Only Pidgeotto reacted negatively, taking off with a near-flounce to soar up to perch on a low tree branch, her back turned to everyone down on the ground below.

Abra turned over onto his back and started to snore.

Shmougie 08-01-2010 07:41 PM

Opal let out a shriek and ran over, kneeling beside her friend, gastly cackling behind her.

"Ness, Oh my gosh I'm so sorry!!" Opal lost her cool demeanor as she began to frantically look through her backpack for a paralyze heal. Did she use the last one already?

Farfetch'd, meanwhile, flew up to the tree and offered some berries to the annoyed Pideotto, trying to loosen the flying pokemon up.

"I'm sorry, Ness." Opal fixed her glasses, trying to hide her tear-filled eyes. "I used the last one a while back."

"Oh my. How....undignified." crooned a familiar voice.

Johan stood beside the spectacle, arms crossed, and chuckled. His vulpix was beside him, prissy and obedient, just like the first time they'd met.

"What's wrong? Can't handle your pokemon, Nessy?" he teased, smirk permanently in place. When he saw the state Opal was in, however, he softened a bit and pulled out a paralyze heal, holding it between his pointer and thumb as if it was diseased.

"Here." He handed it to Opal and went back to his gloating. "I can't believe that fall. You're as graceful as ever."

Opal, meanwhile, was spraying her friend with the paralyze heal, quietly grateful that the boy showed up, even if he was a tad annoying.

Goblin Maiden 08-01-2010 07:58 PM

Ness heard her friend admitting to using up the last Paralyze Heal and inwardly screamed in frustration.

'Noooo! Now I have to wait until nightfall until this paralysis wears off. NIGHTFALL. I do NOT want to be in this position for six... seven... whatever more hours! SOMEONE GET ME OUT OF THIS. Anyone, I'll do anything!'

Pidgeotto turned at the shaking of her branch to see Opal's Farfetch'd landing next to her, offering some berries. Her eyes lit up at the sight of food and she gratefully took some.

"Pidge," she thanked Farfetch'd happily. Her trainer on the ground seemed to be forgotten as she swallowed the first of the berries and went for another.

'--stupid ghost, why did he have to Lick ME, why didn't he go for my up-start Ponyta, why did it have to be me of all people, I mean, I'm good to my Pokemon, I work hard for my badges, I even gave Opal my sandwich last week when that Meowth stole her wallet, I--'

Ness froze (well, more than she already was) and stopped her mental tirade in its tracks at the sound of a dreadfully familiar, mocking laugh.

'No... not him... not now!'

Then she felt a cool liquid being spritzed onto her arm.

"Hey... I can move again!" Ness sprang up with a joyful yell, for the moment forgetting that Johan was there. "Thanks, Opal... But didn't you say you ran out? Oh well, that doesn't matter."

The trainer had not seen Johan give Opal the Paralyze Heal because of the hair covering her eyes.

"What in blazes are YOU doing here?" Ness confronted Johan, or 'Prince Priss' as she preferred to call him. "You and your little Vulpix... What, what are you laughing at? Nothing to see here! It was an accident, you can't blame me for getting into an accident!"

She shoved her tousled blonde hair out of her face and glared at the Coordinator. Oh, if only looks could paralyze as much as that Lick had...

Shmougie 08-01-2010 08:36 PM

Opal was about to correct her friend, but Johan just waved her off. After all, one thing he hated (but also liked) about this bumbling trainer is that no matter what he did their was always an argument. Winning their little tiffs always gave him a rush.

"Please, if you weren't such a clumsy oaf, you wouldn't get into the ten or so 'accidents' you usually get into during the day.." He chuckled and flipped his light brown bangs away from his green eyes.

Gastly happily went closer to Ness and nuzzled at her arm affectionately.

"See, gaseous pokemon like you best because you're as preposterously boorish as them."
The gastly, not understanding the scathing comment only continued to nuzzle his favorite pranking toy. Opal sighed and rest her forehead on her knees, spent. Could she please take a nap?

Goblin Maiden 08-01-2010 10:06 PM

Ness flushed red at being called out on all the accidents, real or not, she was prone to. Could she help it that she was clumsy sometimes--

No, wait. She wasn't clumsy. Those accidents were NOT her fault. Prince Priss was just trying to make it SEEM like they were. Oohh, she was on to him now. She wouldn't let him win. For once, Ness Archrow would win the fight, and not that jerk Johan Smithrene!

"Get off, ghost," she muttered, pushing Gastly aside. Or at least, trying to... It was a toss of the coin whether or not he decided to remain solid or go gas-like, as his name implied. "And I am not a bore! I bet I've had more interesting experiences battling my Pokemon for League badges than you have, with how you're always just showing them off for meaningless trinkets," Ness huffed.

Squirtle shook his head and sighed at his trainer's misunderstanding of Johan's insult. He then wandered over to Opal's Ivysaur and sat down next to him.

"Squirtle-squirt?"

Glancing over at Opal, it was obvious that the water Pokemon was wondering if his trainer's friend was feeling all right.

Shmougie 08-02-2010 07:46 PM

Gastly allowed Ness to push him away and gave her an affectionate look before circling his trainer instead.

Johan was going to correct her misuse of the word, but what she said had really hit a nerve.

"Meaningless trinkets?" Just a little change; a twitch of the eyebrow and a slight rising in the volume of his voice, let Ness know that she got the best of him for a second.

"You call ribbons in the Super Rank 'beauty', 'cool' and 'cute' contests meaningless?"

Vulpix huffed and stuck her nose up, revealing the blue Beauty Rank ribbon used as her collar. The gold center shined in the sun, as if attempting to accentuate the attention she was trying to get. Johan's Eevee, still in her pokeball held the 'cute' ribbon, and Persian held the 'cool'.

"Of course, what could I expect.." he seemed to be cooling down again, since his voice went to its normal decible. "from someone who collects badges: things that just prove you have the knowledge of a caveman, and are willing to get as dirty as one!"

Ivysaur had long given up on taking a nap, and was attentive to his water-type friend. With a rumbling "Ivy.." he gave a nod, his trainer was a bit teary eyed, but she'd be fine, he didn't need to baby her like at the beginning of their journey.

Opal was cleaning up all the junk she had pulled out of her backpack while they continued to fight, a sweatdrop obvious on the back of her head at her friends misunderstanding. She still felt bad about Gastly; why did he never listen to her? As a breeder, she was supposed to be friendly with all pokemon, but...

She sighed and raised her voice as she got up, slipping her backpack onto one shoulder.

"Hey now, guys...That's enough! Don't fight."

Johan only huffed and crossed his arms. "Why are you on the outskirts of the city, anyway? Poor Opal, did you get kicked out thanks to Ness' barbaric attitude?"

Goblin Maiden 08-03-2010 05:33 PM

"Knowledge of a caveman?!" Ness could not help gaping. Did he really know nothing of all the effort and learning that went into training and battling Pokemon seriously? "I'll have you know that I..."

Then she paused, obviously set back.

"Wait, we're on the outskirts of the city? Which city? Where?"

Instantly, she wished she could take her words back. Now Prince Priss would know that they were lost! NOT what she needed right now; another excuse for him to gloat and lord over her. Really, would he never stop? Ever since they had first met, he'd been like that. But of course, she would never let him get the better of her for long. She'd rather throw all her Badges into the ocean before she would give up to a prat like him!

Squirtle nodded at Ivysaur's reassurance of his trainer's well-being, then winced as Ness gave away that she in fact knew nothing of where she was. That was sure to be a sore spot with her later... She ALWAYS pushed her Pokemon hard in training when she was mad. They tried their best, and it did help them improve their battle skills, but... Sometimes Squirtle just wished they could take a break, maybe go on vacation for a little while.

He gave into daydreaming about beach resorts and mountain getaways, smiling happily.

Shmougie 08-06-2010 03:42 AM

((I FORGOT WHAT WE NAMED THE PLACE. D: I WILL MAKE A PLACE UP AND YOU CAN TELL ME WHAT IT WAS WHEN YOU'RE ONLINE AND I'LL EDIT IT. ALSO, I DON'T KNOW WHY I'M TYPING IN CAPS.))

A look of unabashed shock slipped onto the prissy boy's face.

"You didn't know?...Of course you didn't. Every trainer knows to go on a journey you need a map!" he covered his face with one flawless hand, but his shoulders were shaking, so you could tell that he was laughing. His vulpix giggled and shook her head.

Opal wanted to point out that they did have one, once, but stopped and bit her bottom lip so hard in almost bled. She could feel red creeping on her cheeks in embarrassment.

"Just passed this field is Sunnyshore city; The city of beaches, good food and spas! The last, of course, is the reason me and my pokemon are headed over. They deserve a few days of relaxation for all they've done!" Vulpix beamed up at her trainer, who smiled right back.

"City of beaches...and food..." Opal grumbled, her tummy giving a very ungirly grumble.

Goblin Maiden 08-07-2010 02:45 PM

Ness started to shake as well, but judging by the look of sheer fury on her face, it was not with humor.

Then she paused at the mention of--

"Food?"

All of her Pokemon perked up, as well. Except Abra. He was still dead-asleep. Grabbing him up in her arms, she waved for the rest of her Pokemon to follow her as she began to run off in a randomly selected direction.

"Come on, guys! Restaurants, street vendors, cafes, juice bars! I don't care which we reach first, we just gotta get some GRUB."

Without another look at Prince Priss, she yelled to Opal, "Come on, you sister of a slowpoke! We've got stomachs to fill and not much time to kill! HAH-HAH."

And with a last triumphant, almost wild bark of laughter, Ness Archrow was off, not even bothering to thank Johan Smithrene for his choice piece of information.

Shmougie 08-15-2010 10:40 PM

Sweatdrops were apparent on both Opal and Johan's heads as Ness continued to make a ruckus as she set off.

"H-hey! Wait for me!! Ness!" Opal nearly whined as she chased after her companion, her pokemon happily trotting behind her and laughing. "You don't even know if you're going the right way!"

Johan just watched in utter disbelief as Ness walked off. She was truly exasperating. He sighed, and covered his mouth to his his bright smile as his shoulders shook with laughter. At least it was always interesting with her...

"Vul?" Vulpix tilted her head to the side, trying to figure out why her master looked so happy, but he just shook his head and chuckled, following them from behind(After all, he didn't run. Wherever he went, he sauntered in with elegance) toward sunnyshore city.

Goblin Maiden 09-19-2010 02:10 AM

"HELLO, BURGER! I LOVE YOU. YES, I DO. I LOVE YOU... and now I shall eat you," Ness broke off from her loud, stare-drawing proclamation in the small restaurant called 'Iris' Diner.'

"Don't take it personally, this will pain me as much as it pains you. Or not."

With that, Ness took a colossal bite out of her burger, as did her Pokemon out of the various berries they had been given. Even Abra had woken up in order to eagerly partake of the food. Sleeping and eating... that's all her Pokemon was good for, Ness reflected wryly as she chewed.

She loved him anyway.

"Who is that?" A man whispered from a table nearby.

"Just don't make eye-contact, dear," the woman he was eating with muttered back, resolutely taking a bite of her lasagna.

"Momma, that girl is weird!" Their young son piped up unabashedly.

Squirtle glared at the boy, who recoiled in fear. Ness, however, only laughed.

"Thanks, kid, I appreciate that," she called out. "Don't try to be normal, okay? It'll only bring you down in the end!"

The boy's parents gasped and stood up. "Come on, Ronnie, don't listen to that girl. You need to be a nice, normal, well-developed child in order to get into a good college... We're leaving, okay? Dear, get the check."

"College," Ness snorted. "Ov-er-rated! The life of a trainer is where it's at, Ron, mark my words."

Squirtle sighed and took a bite out of his berry. Why did his trainer have to cause such a ruckus wherever they went? At least he was used to it now...

Shmougie 08-27-2011 03:39 AM

"How did you even get a burger that fast?" Opal huffed, her cheeks red from running and her bun so messy it was akin to a rattata's nest.

She plopped next to her friend and took a long, hard drink from Ness' glass of water before ordering the same berries for her pokemon, and a chicken club sandwhich for herself.

Johan, who had paused before entering the diner and heard everything that was said smiled at the little boy as he walked past.

"She's right, you know? A little off on the trainer part, but right." He winked at the boy and lifted a finger up, as if saying 'Rule number one'.

"Normalcy is for chumps. What you should shoot for is beauty that no one else can match! Why settle being a duckling when you can be a swan??" What he said was almost uncharacteristically loud, but passion was in his words. You could swear that there were bishounen sparkles behind him as he spoke. He left the family staring in awe (or it could be horror. He certainly thought it was awe.) before pulling up a chair beside the table with his rival and friend.

He gave a wink at the waitress who was taking Opal's order and the woman blushed a deep red.

"A Garden salad and mineral water for me, if you please. And oh, do you happen to have pokéblocks, or just berries? If only berries, would you please grind them up into a fine powder and place them in mineral water bottles for my pokemon?" He just smiled as the woman nodded repeatedly, writing his order down super quick and scampering off.

Goblin Maiden 08-27-2011 02:02 PM

"I'm MAGIC," Ness proclaimed proudly as she worked on devouring her burger, a wide smile on her face. "Hey, did I say you could have my water? I'm thirsty too, you know." She didn't stop her friend from drinking, but her eyes narrowed as Ponyta slurped messily from the water glass next, ending up knocking it over and spilling water all over Ness' lap.

"Why, you pile of horse dung!" Ness leapt up and grabbed a handful of napkins, trying to sop up her now-soaking lap. "I would've gotten you some water if you had just asked for it, sheesh! Aren't you supposed to be one of the more gentle pokemon? Honestly..."

A low but sudden voice in her ear made her jump. "Ness, you may have a bond with your pokemon, as all trainers do, but still... You can't just expect them to make their needs known to you when they come up. YOU have to be always alert, always catering to THEM to keep such situations as this one from happening. Always anticipate the needs of your pokemon, that's one of the Trainers' Golden Rules."

Ponyta nodded, her fiery mane tossing about. Ness jerked around to see who was daring to tell HER about what it took to be a trainer.

"Ace Sparrow?!"

The young man smiled, doffing an imaginary cap. "The one and only," he replied.

Ness' irritation increased. Not only had they run into that Prince Priss, but now the Ace A--er, Irritation. "What are you doing here? I heard that you were at a tournament in Duskshire just a few days ago!"

He shrugged, that smile still on his face. "Well, I won, and I got FLY as my prize," he said nonchalantly, as if that were the only outcome to be expected where he was concerned. "So I decided to come out to this resort town to treat myself and my pokemon. What about you guys?" He added, glancing over at Opal and smirking even wider.

"We just decided to come out here to check out the sights and... stuff..." Ness huffed a bit distractedly as she tried to sop the water out of her clothes.

Ponyta's mane and tail flared up, and she nickered questioningly.

"No. Definitely not! You screwed up twice today already, I don't need you scorching me in an attempt to 'help' me dry off," Ness rebuked the pokemon.

Ponyta huffed and turned her rear end pointedly to her trainer, 'accidentally' knocking over the open bottle of ketchup as she did so.

"URGH! Why are you so DIFFICULT?!" Ness yelled. "That's it, back into your pokeball! I've had it with you today, you hoofs-for-brains horse!"

Ace shook his head slowly as Ness called Ponyta back into her pokeball. "You didn't handle that too well," he told her lightly, in a tone that could have been taken for kind if he'd just wipe that darn superior look off his face. "Didn't you get that she was trying to apologize?"

Ness scoffed. "Give me a break. Think I don't know my own pokemon? She was just trying cause trouble, like she always does!"

Ace shrugged. "Well, I guess you can't help not realizing it. After all..." He stopped and smirked a bit more.

"After all what?" Ness demanded, a bit irritated at his condescending attitude.

"Nothing." He shook his head before going off to the counter to order meals for himself and his pokemon.

Ness looked at him, her eyes narrowed. "That guy... who does he think he is, treating me like a kid? And speaking of guys I don't like, what are YOU doing here anyway?" She turned on Johan Smithrene. "Shouldn't you and your pokemon be curling your eyelashes at a spa or something?"

Shmougie 08-27-2011 03:21 PM

Johan didn't even look offended.

"Shouldn't you not be getting schooled by other trainers like that?" Oh, he told her!

Johan couldn't remember why he knew that boy, had he seen him in his travels? He supposed that could be it. Johan didn't find people he met outside contests all that memorable...except for some very loud and obnoxious exceptions.

"Besides, pampering will happen in due time, but for now my pokemon need to work on inner healthiness before we work on our outer beauty." The waitress returned with his food and he smiled, but otherwise ignored her. Tears of rejection fell down her face like twin waterfalls and she glared at Ness, who had all his attention.

"Might I suggest a specific spa that will really help with those large pores of yours? Not to mention get all that mud and...debris out from under your fingernails. What were you doing, making a statue from mud?"

To Opal, they might as well have been silent, since all she could hear was white noise. Ace was here. Ace Sparrow. Childhood crush and the top student in pokemon class all the way to graduation. Why did he smirk at her like that? She didn't deserve to even be seen by him and...

"Ghast! Ghaaaast~!" She didn't even notice that her ghastly was making funny faces at and around her, she was so spaced out. The children in a table a little ways away laughed in glee as her ghastly continued to entertain them with his antics.

Goblin Maiden 08-27-2011 03:44 PM

Ness turned red. "I... I...!"

She was saved from having to answer by noticing Opal completely spacing out. Even her own Ghastly couldn't get her attention, despite the joyful laughter of the children nearby.

"Uh... Opal? Hey, what's up?" Ness waved a hand in front of her friend's face. "Are you okay? Was there something weird in your sandwich?"

"Squiiirtle?" Ness' pokemon questioned Opal's Ivysaur worriedly, looking up at the out-of-it Opal. "Squirtle squirt?"

"Opal?!" Ness cried, growing increasingly anxious as her friend failed to answer. "Opal, talk to me!"

Ace came walking (swaggering, Ness thought darkly) back, blinking a bit as he saw Ness hovering over Opal. "Something amiss here, I take it?"

"Something's wrong with Opal, I--"

The top trainer took one look at the oblivious girl and grinned, his eyes twinkling briefly--no, Ness must have imagined that last part. "Oh, don't worry, she'll be fine. Look, you know what would be fun in the meantime?"

Before Ness could stop him, he'd whipped out a black marker from his pocket and leaned over to doodle a mustache on Opal's face.

Shmougie 08-27-2011 04:12 PM

A very uncharacteristic snort came from Johan's direction, he covered his face with his hand to hide any view of his smile and how much he was enjoying this. This was terrible, this was horrible, this was...absolutely hilarious.

"Oh my goodness. She looks like Colonel Sanders from that Kanto Fried Pidgey commercial."

Ivysaur was at first apathetic to his trainers plight. After all, she did this all the time when so much as the boys name was mentioned. He just sighed.

However, when Ace took out the pen he gaped at the scene in front of him, his eyes nothing but big white saucers. "Saur!!" How degrading!! Ivysaur let out a growl and went to charge at the offending trainer.

At first he was held back by his fellow pokemon, who were worried that he was going to take it too far, but he managed to shoot out a vine towards the boy, wether to smack him in the face or just take the pen, no one was sure.

Opal took that opportune moment to snap out of her daze, oblivious to her pokemon's incoming attack.

"What? Guys, why are you looking at me like that?"

Goblin Maiden 08-27-2011 05:05 PM

Ness glared at Johan. "It's not funny! Opal really could be--Opal? Thank goodness you're alright! What happened there, you scared--"

She broke off to look on in surprise as Ivysaur's vine connected with Ace's eye.

"OWWW!!!" Ace shouted, dropping the marker as he clapped both hands to his face. "MY EYE. AUGH. It was a JOKE, Ivysaur--OW."

Ness was shocked. Normally Opal's Ivysaur wasn't so aggressive. Normally Ivysaur kept his cool. It had to be a mistake. Right?

Shmougie 08-27-2011 05:42 PM

"Huh? Ness, what are you even talking about?" It was as if she wasn't there for the past five minutes.

The Grass pokemon in question let out a growl and glared at Ace, even the other pokemon seemed to be nervous.

"I-Ivysaur! Why did you do that?!" Opal had hopped up from her chair to scold her loyal pokemon.

He could remember when she was ten and first got him. She was tiny and fragile, and would cry a lot when the boys picked on her.

So he would have to take care of them.
(Okay, so it wasn't really that dramatic, he would give them a smack on the bottom to make them run off, that was about it. But still! No one messed with his trainer. Period! That was a little slip, he didn't mean to maim the boy, just deter him from doing something like that again.)

"We don't hurt people. Especially not without my permission! What were you thinking?" the more serious her face became, the more the children giggled.

"I'm so, so sorry! Let me see, I have plenty of medicine in my bag.." Opal offered, putting her hands over his wrists in an attempt to move his hand away from his eye.

Johan himself had to bite his lip to stifle the laughter. The air was a little tense now, wasn't it?

"Well, it was funny. At first." He told Ness matter-of-factly "Ten pokédollars she doesn't notice the mustache till tonight?"

"You... Oh, nevermind." Ness glanced askance at Opal... particularly Opal's new mustache.

"I-it's okay, it's fine. Don't scold him, he was just trying to... OW." Ace winced as he lowered his hands. His eye was slightly bruised, as well as a bit bloodshot.

"Pokemon are very loyal to their trainers who treat them right... I just didn't know Ivysaur took things so seriously... Medicine actually sounds really nice right now. Ouch."

Ness glared at Johan before grabbing a napkin and handing it to Opal. "Here. You might want to take care of your face before we leave. Which should be after you treat the Ace Arse."

She put a hand over her mouth; the unofficial title had come out before she thought. Looking over at Ace, she smiled a bit weakly. "Er. Hi. Sorry?"

"He's always been serious, even when he was a baby.." Opal heard her starter pokemon huff, but ignored it. She took the napkin from her companion and a sweatdrop fell down her head as she let out the little slip up.

"Oh my gosh, Ness!" Opal felt her face blush, but took out the eye drops, passing them to the other boy but not looking at him. "Sorry...so sorry."

Johan raised an eyebrow at Ness' little slip up and pouted.

"How come I don't have a nickname?? Wait, I do and you don't want to say it, right? Johan the beautiful? Johan the amazingly handsome?" He smirked to himself and nodded. "Yes, that's probably it."

A little squeak came from Opal as she saw herself in a mirror behind Ace.

"Oh my gosh...You really are an arse." she mumbled. giving the boy a deadpan look. Oh how emotions change...

(I feel like this is a little off =/ if you want me to change anything just tell me.)
