History: He was born the first son of the Fox family and has been raised to be the best king. When he was three he was stuck in the middle of a riot and Alex was the one who saved him. Weapons: He hides a small dagger in his bag and keeps kuni in his sleeves for just in case situations.

Arctic sighed softly as he slowly started to wake up from another one of his annoying dreams. He brushed some of his dark hair out of his eyes as he opened them again for the fourth time. He slowly started to sit up in the large bed in the middle of his room. He pushed his light blue blankets off of him as he slipped his one leg off the bed. His maid came running in the room. Her hair was a mess and it looks as if she'd just also gotten up. She fixed her hair and caught her breath for a few moments before she started to run around the room opening the curtains. His room had only one solid wall. The rest were glass. He'd loved seeing the wild life and his father had created this room for him. Of course this was a garden in the middle of the castle so he was in no danger.

"I'm sorry young lord. I am late in waking you up." she apologized as she came of of the bathroom. She left before he could say it was fine. A small smile appeared on his lips as he got off the bed and went into the bathroom. Everything was fresh and clean. He didn't see why it had to be always so clean but eh. He was a prince. He guess that's the way it went. He stripped from his night cloths and stepped into the tub as his maid returned with warm water. She poured it onto him and he started on his bath.

BlackCart29 08-10-2010 06:41 AM

Alex awoke in her small guard's chamber. She promptly slid out of bed and began to stretch at he foot of her bed. Time for her morning training; if she was to continue to protect the Prince Artic, she would need to swift and strong. This was her mantra through her morning training swift, a downward swing of her shaft, strong an upward thrust of the staff. After another thirty minutes of brutal excercise an reddend and pleased Alex began to cleanse herself and ready herself for the day ahead.

"That slow-waking man should be awake by now!" She proclaimed to the empty and plain room. With that thought in mind the proud protector strode off in the direction of Artic's chamber.

Azmine 08-10-2010 06:08 PM

Arctic sighed softly as he felt the warm water just relax every worry away. He leaned back and just laid there for a bit before he finished washing and stood up when the maid was gone. He grabbed a towel and slowly started to rub it over his body drying himself before he wrapped it around his waist. He shook his head out a bit to get some more of the water out of his hair before walking out of the bathroom and over to the closet where all his cloths were hung all nice and neat. He wasn't the cleanest person in the world but all his things were kept that way. He looked through his things slowly passing through all the cloths he knew he couldn't go riding in. He stopped on a deep red shirt and a dark pair of worn out pants. He smiled a bit as he took it off the hanger and threw it on the bed. "Time to see if Alex is up for a ride." he said to himself as he started to get his cloths on.

BlackCart29 08-11-2010 02:17 PM

Alex continued to walk down the hall toward Artic's room. The halls were luxurious and well decorated, and this only increased as she drew closer to the Prince's chambers. Once outside of the door to Artic's room, set in the room's only solid wall, Alex knocked and without waiting for further invitation entered.

"Prince Artic," she said looking around the room for the man she called for, "Alexandra Jacques reporting for daily protection duty," She called. Though the two had been, at least in her mind, dear friends since their early youth she needed to act professionally, he was not only her friend but her future ruler, and while guarding him she tried to act like someone who deserved that position.

Azmine 08-12-2010 04:00 PM

Arctic smiled happily as he heard her say what she says every morning. He chuckled to himself as he finished putting on his pants and moved onto his shirt. He put it on and walked out and over to where she was standing. "Just call my Arc Alex." he said as he smiled more and buttoned up the front of his shirt. His hair was still a bit drippy and was getting on the shirt he'd chosen for todays ride. "Would you like to skip today's boring meetings and go ridding with me today?" he asked as smiled bigger, if that was possible. He LOVED ridding his horse Arrow.

BlackCart29 08-12-2010 04:27 PM

"Prince Fox, we should maintain your schedule. Where ever the Prince wishes to go, however, I will follow." She said clearly, standing at attention in front of the door to the room. She said but she desperately hated the boring meetings that she often attending while guarding the Prince, she'd much rather ride at his side on the horse that Prince gave her, Beau. Then again riding together was dangerous. Doing things together without other around, her happiness grew wild and she dared to dream that someday...

But no. She would stay at the Prince's side, that was her gift and her burden.

Azmine 08-12-2010 04:33 PM

Arctic shook his head as he sighed. "Fine. Be it your way." he said as he went and grabbed his towel and started to rub his hair down. "I don't see why you don't call me by my name when we're not in public. I try to tell that with everyone. I'm your friend. Not your ruler so you don't need to bow to my every whim. You may do things that please you also." he said as he rubbed his hair dry and then started to comb it through. When he was finished he made sure he looked alright before going and getting his riding boots. He was going riding since he knew that she would love it too.

"We're of course still going ridding." he said as he came out of his walk in closet with his dirty riding boots. He smiled that goofy smile he only gave her before walking to his dresser and retrieving a pair of socks. He put the socks on and then carried his boots to her. He of course didn't want to make the servants jobs harder and mess up the place so he'd put them on by the door like he always did. "Lets be off." he said as he opened the door for her.

BlackCart29 08-12-2010 04:48 PM

"Prince Fox, you know it isn't out of disrespect or lack of love that I call you by your title. Rather, I love you so well that I always want to respect you." She said quietly, almost as though for her self. Alex bite back on her tongue, god she wished that she didn't speak so freely in front of him. Artic was such a good man though, his approachable nature allowed her to daydream, in dangerous ways.

Grumbling at her own lack of control Alex stepped through the door that the Prince held open for her, "Thanks Foxy", she whispered, below the other man's hearing. "Let's ride!" She stated more audibly as the two headed toward the riding area.

Azmine 08-12-2010 05:37 PM

Arctic smiled as he watched her walk through the door. He thought she said something but he didn't hear it. He shrugged it off and smiled as they walked towards the door. He put on his shoes just before he stepped outside into the wonderfully beautiful summer day. He could feel a soft breeze run over his body and he shivered slightly. He couldn't think of a better day to go riding. He walked to the stables with Alex just enjoying the weather and not caring about what he was leaving behind. They would continue it without him so its not like had to be there every day.

He opened the stable doors and looked in to see most of the stable hands at work. He smiled to himself a bit as he walked in first and over to Arrow who was very excited to see him. "I see I'm not the only one who wants to go riding." he said as he nuzzled his horse a bit before he put the saddle and other things on him. He lifted himself up and his horse was already walking himself to the door. "Whoooow...Wait for Alex." he said as he softly pet the young horse.

BlackCart29 08-12-2010 10:14 PM

While the Prince was preparing Arrow for their ride, Alex had been preparing Beau. The beautiful chestnut mare nuzzled into her hand after being saddled - she was a loving mount. At that point Alex got astride her and led her toward the Prince.

"I'm ready, Prince Fox." She said solemnly, forcing down a grin that was blooming at the sight of the Prince fighting with Arrow for control.

"Race ya," she said just for his ears and she rode by, breaking Beau into a trot as she rode out of the stall area and toward the woods. Though she wanted to be seen as professional in the company of others, she didn't always act it out in private.

Azmine 08-12-2010 10:26 PM

Arctic laughed as he pet Arrow gently. "You may do as you wish now." he said softly to the dark horse and he started to run. It looked like the horse was smiling at them. Arc was happy that his horse could be so free. When he first saw the horse it hadn't been broken in and what ever the men had done to him had made the horse angry at anyone who came near. Arctic was only seven at the time but he giggled and jumped right onto the horse. He remembered how he yelled race race race and the horse started to run. Arrow had tried to get him off his back But Arctic had held on and they rode around till Arrow was tired. Arctic just laughed and smiled more. He'd said good horsey and they'd been friends since.

Arctic and Arrow raced the two till the edge of the woods and down the path most everyone used. Arctic had this strange feeling they were being watched but he didn't worry about it. He could hear the wind whistling through the leaves of the trees and he couldn't help but to smile. Today was such a good day to go riding. He heard a strange sound and turned to see an arrow coming from behind a tree. His eyes widened and he tried to get away but the arrow stuck right into his left shoulder. It set him off balance and he fell from Arrows back. He landed almost on the arrow but he'd leaned more towards his left and landed on that shoulder. He stood up as Arrow sensed what he was thinking and stood in front of him from the direction the green vine arrow had come from. He could feel blood slowly sliding down his arm but all he carried about was getting Alex away from danger.

BlackCart29 08-13-2010 12:07 AM

Alex turned around, watching the Prince's noble features contorted in a grin to display the joy they were both feeling at being free to ride together outside the palace walls. However, as she turned back to ride forward she caught a glimpse of something in the trees and simultaneously felt that they were being observed. Alex was already turning Beau to face the Prince and Arrow when the arrow came out from the forest and struck the Prince in the shoulder. She was still too far from him, but as he fell from his horse she arrived by his side.

"Prince, stay down." she ordered, sandwiching the man between the two horses. "I'll protect you." she said, scanning the area for the offending assassin. Alex took her staff from where it had been affixed to the side of her mount and held it at the ready.

"You must kill me, sir. Make that your goal for the moment." she said, calling into the trees.

Azmine 08-14-2010 10:04 PM

Arctic whimpered as he used his arm and pulled Alex down from the horse. She was almost hit with the arrow on the side of her head. It grazed her cheek. He pushed her towards the trees. "Don't be so noble when running is just as a good enough answer." he almost yelled. His face was full of anger. He couldn't believe that she would so easily throw herself in front of a carriage then just pushing him out of the way. He heard some cracks in the woods surrounding them but they weren't to far from the stables now. "Please...never again...." he said as he felt his body starting to get like pudding and he fell to his knees, before to his side. "P-please..." he pleaded before his eyes closed and he passed out. The sounds in the woods stopped as the assassin left, his job done.

BlackCart29 08-15-2010 02:54 AM

"Dammit all!" Alex yelled, struggling against the Prince's grasp as she heard the attacker retreating, "Arctic, dammit, Prince Fox, you will not ever again get in the wa-" Alex stopped her tirade as Arctic suddenly slumped out of her grip. Examining him closer she saw that the arrow had gone deeper than she had thought originally. The Prince was bleeding profusely and the area around the arrow hole seemed discolored, as though the tip of the arrow may have been poisoned. She cursed to herself again before throwing the Prince over the back of his horse, which she linked to her own to lead back to the stables.

The short trip back to the stables was a harrowing one for Alex, she could not move quickly for fear of jostling the Prince and injuring him further, but all of her protective instincts were pushing her to run back. Finally arriving at the door to the stables she called for medical teams and transport back to the castle. She stayed with the Prince until they arrived at the medical center placed in the Palace for use by members of the extended royal family and those that served them. At the doors to the treatment room she was separated from the Prince, and could only sit on a bench as his wound was treated in the other room.

Alex berated herself as she sat, waiting for news of Arctic's health. If only she'd been quicker, heard the branches snap; or maybe if she could have run faster, gotten there soon. It all broke down to the fact that this was her fault. Alex was Arctic's bodyguard. Not his friend. Not his companion. And certainly not anything more. Alex bore down on her knees with her hands so hard that her fingernails pressed red crescents into her skin. Her statement 'race ya' sealed his fate. At that point the Prince went into the forest with no protection, only a besotted somewhat bodyguard.

She would stay by his side, but no more fooling between the two of them. Protecting his life was more important that making herself happy by being close to him, from now on they could only have a professional relationship.

Azmine 08-15-2010 08:48 PM

Arctic panted heavily as he felt the hands of the doctors working on his over heated body. Wave after wave of pain shot through his entire body. He opened his eyes and he saw people talking to him but he didn't know what they were saying. He let his eyes slip close when he felt the hands on his wounded shoulder. He screamed as they ripped the arrow through his shoulder since coming out the way it went in wasn't working. The arrow just got caught on the skin. He cried louder and louder till he finally passed out giving into his exhausted body.

The doctors worked quickly, even through the thrashing and screaming they knew that he would be better when they were finished. The got the arrow out of him and then poured alcohol on the wound. The medican man had found out what poision they'd used and after they flushed out the wound a few times the stuffed his wound with the antidote. The sowed him up and then put more on the top of the wounds before wrapping it. They sat back only when his thrashing and body seemed more relaxed. They would of course have to watch him all night because they had to make sure that it would work but they could relax a bit for now.

BlackCart29 08-16-2010 12:39 AM

In the hall outside the room in which they were tending the Prince, Alex sat. She was worried, in terms of professional pride, she was at a complete loss. She had turned from a bodyguard to a mere girl - a mistake she would never make again. From the double doors that lead to where the Prince was, a surgeon emerged. Alex looked around the hall and saw that no one from the royal family had arrived yet, it was just her. She stood to receive the man.

"Sir, what is going on with the Prince?" She asked, firmly keeping all emotion from her voice. She was rock. She was a shield for defense. She was not a girl, waiting for news of the man she ... feels for condition.

"Prince Fox will recover, the arrow is removed and the wounds are on the mend," he stated with a professional briskness.

"And the poison?" Alex asked.

"Completely treated. You may see him now." The doctor said, leading Alex back toward the medical room. Alex took a deep breath and stepped into the brightly lit room.

Azmine 08-16-2010 03:33 PM

Arctic was pale. He looked a lot better then he had when he first came in though. He had a bit more color in his pale cheeks then he did before. He was asleep though. A nurse was checking on his pulse and his breath to make sure everything was well for now. They had him under a thick wool blanket to keep him warm against the chill that the night was sure to bring. The nurse smiled at her. "He's going to be fine." she said before she put his arm down and then gently covered it under the blanket. She left the room and let them have some time alone together.

A lot of the people in the castle thought that the two would make the cutest couple in the world but because he was a prince they kept it to themselves. They didn't want to get either of them into trouble. She smiled at the thought of their wedding and then chuckled to herself before getting back to her work.

BlackCart29 08-16-2010 04:17 PM

As Alex stepped further into the room, the last nurse reassured her and left. "I guess it's just you me, huh?" She said reaching to swipe a piece of hair across his forehead. She stopped herself before her hand touched his forehead. So simple, to slip back into the same role that she'd had before. But she was the Prince's protector ... not his friend. With that thought in mind Alex snapped to attention.

"I hope the Prince will recover soon, you are the glory of our nation." She said, the traditional line falling like bile from her mouth. She turned from his bedside, "I will be posted outside the door if you require anything." She said, the unfamiliar formality clogging her mind. Be proper, speak using his title only - show no familiarity.

Show no familiarity.

Show no familiarity.

Alex made this her mantra as she turned to exit from the room. Focusing on making clean crisp, professional, movements with her body - proud of the way that she made her boots tap authoritatively against the floor. Focusing all of her energy on this effort she traced the last bit of emotion from her face and turned it into a slab.

She was now a rock where once a girl stood. And that's how she would stay from now on.

Azmine 08-18-2010 04:38 AM

He woke up half way through the night and stripped out of his shirt, feeling the heat of the fever taken over his body even though the night was as cold as winter. He was now getting through the worst part of it. He sighed as he looked around the spinning room. He leaned to his right, thinking there was a towel there to dry his sweating body off but he ended up just falling to the ground missing the towel that was farther away from him then he'd expected. He reached up a bit from the cold stone floor and grabbed the blue fluffy towel. He sat up, with the help of the chair, and started to dry his body down. He sniffled slightly as he finished drying himself off before struggling to get to his feet. He had to relieve himself but he refused to call for anyone.

It took him a minute or two but he was on his feet. He had to use the wall because he knew he wasn't strong enough to get to the bathroom himself. He crossed the cold stone floor with the help of the wall and walked into the bathroom. After relieving himself he crashed to the ground. He winced when he pressed his weight into his hurt arm. Tears spilled down his cheeks as he tried to keep control of himself as he laid on the ground just keeping himself from calling for help. He hated it, felt ashamed to ask for help and he was scared to face Alex. He didn't want to see what this ordeal had changed her into. He couldn't handle it. He didn't want to face someone that wasn't his cool relaxed friend that he loved so much.

"P-Please don't take her away from me..." he cried softly to himself as he got onto all fours and crawled back to the bed. It took him a bit but he finally got to the warm sheets and struggled into them. He curled in a ball and ended up just crying himself to sleep. The stitches had opened a bit so some blood was now on his sheets but all that mattered now was to escape the sadness that was capturing his heart.

BlackCart29 08-18-2010 05:54 AM

Alex heard clatter and banging in the room where the Prince was staying but she ignored it - there was no intruder, Arctic was only fighting his demons in there. It would be familiar of her, to walk in there and to hold him. Like she might have only 24 hours ago.

Now, she stood at his door biting her lip and fighting back tears of her own. She stood their like that until the crying and crawling and quiet grunting. She stood their until he succumbed to his need for sleep. And as the dawn broke, and light streaked across the floor at her feet, she still stood posted at his door.

All the while tears pouring out from her otherwise expressionless face.

Azmine 08-19-2010 01:25 AM

A nurse walked up a few minutes later. She frowned a bit and gave Alex a hug before walking into the room unsure if she wanted to talk about it or not. "Prince~!" she exclaimed when she saw the blood on the sheets. She sighed softly as she cleaned up the sheets and gave him new ones before taking care of him. She wiped his body down with a towel. She smiled as put the blanket over him. His fever had broke and he was now just sleeping to regain his energy. He would be very weak for the next few days as his body takes care of the rest of the poison that is in his body. Nothing harmful but it was going to take a bit.

Arctic slowly opened his eyes and looked up at the nurse. He was a little confused and thought it was Alex. "D-Don't change...P-Please...Alex...I...I love you...the way you...are..." he said smiling a bit half asleep. He rolled back over and just hugged the pillow as the nurse left.

"Um, The prince says he hopes you don't change..that he um, loves you the way you are..." she said blushing a bit before running off not sure how to take it other then the hole servant staff was gonna know.

BlackCart29 08-19-2010 03:39 AM

Alex kept her face stony, processing the comment of the nurse. He loves me. I love him. That's the kind of thing that they write about in story books, a prince and a pauper, separated by station, united by love. And a whole bunch of other bullshit too. Alex was happy to hear the remarks that Arctic had made, but it didn't change a thing. Her mind would not be so easily moved from the resolve that she had just found. She was his shield, nothing more.

With her duties in mind, Alex surveyed the position of the rising sun. She needed to check on the Prince now, make sure his room was still secure. Mentally readjusting the slack mask that was her face Alex knocked thrice on the Prince's door before entering. "How are you today, Prince Fox?" She asked, letting her voice smack of mechanical formality. "Do you require anything?" She added, searching his room for imperfections. Carefully avoiding making eye-contact.
