Recommendations for manga?
I just realized I could have posted my other thread on this part of the forums that has to do with this. Anyway, I am looking for a new manga to read. Just whatever is your favorite or you think is a must read. I love to read supernatural ones, but I still will read pretty much anything. So if you have a good one in mind then it would be greatly appreciated if you could share that with me. Thanks! :P

I've read some of the manga of Arata Kangatari, it's still ongoing. Yuu watase is one of my favorite manga authors. This is one of her new mangas she has out. She made Fushigi yuugi, Ayashi no ceres, alice 19th and others I haven't named that is good.
I haven't read the mangas for Shaman King and xxxHolic, but I seen some of the anime. They're going to be on my to do list to read. All three of those mangas have supernatural in it, along with other genres. You may like them. :) I'm going to put some summaries for them (that I found from a source), since I'm not that great at explaining them myself. Arata Kangatari: Quote:

I just started reading one called Maoh. It has only just come out but it's different than most of the others out there. Oh and I have been a Kateikyoushi Hitman Reborn fan for a while too. So if you like you could check those two out. Enjoy

Omg, there are SO many awesome mangas out there :D
Some of my favourites were: 07 Ghost, WJuliet, xxxHoLic, Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle, Inuyasha, Death Note, Letter Bee, and many, many others. Hope that helped, enjoy your manga reading! :D |
X 1999 is really good. It's the first end of the world themed manga that I ever read and actually one of the first mangas. It's really good. It's by the CLAMP group so you may recognize the art style.
I'm a fan of the older stuff so here's another Galaxy Express 999 - though I don't think the original series is available in engklish the one that is available is the continuing adventures though the cover title doesn't state this. The events take place after the first series or the movies if you can get a hold of them. Their hard to come by sadly even for being an anime classic. You might like Ranma 1/2 it's a more commical series than abnormal although the main character does turn into a girl if dumped with cold water. |
One Piece is the best Manga I've ever read, so if you've not read it yet I strongly recommend it. It's funny, action-packed and a great read.
xxxHolic is another good one, it's much better than it's anime counterpart and a great read imo ^^ |
some of my favs and ones i think r good r Loveless,Ouran High School Host Club,MuriPuri,NANA,Full Moon,Death Note,Junjou Romantica,Million Tears,FMA their all pretty good

I can't choose just one manga as a must read because there are so many that I love. I guess it all depends on your preferrence, but maybe one of these will catch your eye if they haven't all ready.
1. After School Nightmare: A shōjo fantasy manga by Setona Mizushiro. It was serialized from 2004 to 2007 in the manga magazine Princess and collected in ten tankōbon volumes. It is licensed in North America by Go! Comi, with all volumes published. It is about Mashiro Ichijo, an intersexed high-school student who is made by a teacher to work out his gender identity in a collective dream, and Mashiro's romantic relationships with two classmates, one female and one male. 2. Juvenile Orion: A trading card game and shōjo manga series. A spin-off of the Aquarian Age franchise, the story revolves around male characters with supernatural powers. 3. Demon Diary: "Diary of a Demon King") is a 7-volume soonjung manhwa (Korean comic) illustrated by Kara. "Kara" is the name of the duo team consisting of Kim Yoon-gyeong and Jeong Eun-sook. The name Kara is taken from the Hebrew Bible - Jeremiah 35:17 - and it means "to invite". Demon Diary was originally published by Sigongsa and has been licensed in North America by Tokyopop. In Scandinavia, it was published by Mangismo between 2005-2006. A number of writers have worked with Kara on the production of Demon Diary. The story for volume 1 was written by Lee Chi-hyong. Lee stopped writing, because he had to prepare for the upcoming high school exams. The stories for volumes 2 through 7 were written by Lee Yun-hee. 4. Demon Flowers: Also known as Kuruizaki no Hana. This is a horror shōnen-ai manga by Hakase Mizuki. Long ago, when Japanese Gods descended upon humans, their mixed offspring inherited supernatural powers...and the name "Kuruizaki no Hana."Now, those of the Demon world are rising up to wipe out these offspring—led by the cool and confident assassin, Ushitora. He's worshipped as a deadly professional, but when he falls in love with one such gifted boy, Masato, everything changes. Ushitora betrays his people, instead sacrificing himself to a life on the run, in order to care for Masato and a spirited orphaned girl named Nao. From Mizuki Hakase, creator of The Demon Ororon series, comes a dark, chaotic drama about three lost souls in search of the true meaning of family. Four volumes of the story are published in English by Tokyopop 5. Dragon Knights : This is a manga series drawn by Mineko Ohkami and shown in the monthly Japanese magazine Wings. The manga is translated in the United States by Tokyopop. The American translation is imported to Australia by Madman Entertainment. Dragon Knights has a large cast of characters and many overlapping subplots that all weave together to form a main story line. Note: There are also so many others that I like that it would take forever to post them here. Anyways, I hope one of these at least catches your eyes because I've enjoyed all of these tittles and still do to this date. ^_^ -Hisaki Yuki001 |
Black Lagoon can be a fun manga to read. Hasn't updated in a while (grumbles), but it has action, humour, and some of the most bad ass and sometimes psychotic females you will see in manga/anime (yeah it has an anime as well that sticks very close to the source!)
The Yu-Gi-Oh manga (Volumes 1-7, before the duelist series) is pretty cool. That has a season in the anime but was never released outside japan! Rest of it ain't bad either! Other than that, most of the others I know have already been mentioned! |
