Monsters have been alright. Learned that they looveee poker, so we've been finishing up the past few days with hours of it. 0.o

Anddd I've been okay, too. Gettin' myself seriously into a horror/thriller mood, so I'm watching Fringe, and will be following that up later with some horror anime and such. =]

Mehrana 08-22-2010 02:00 PM

Really? A seven and eleven year old love poker? Sounds like me when I was little. What kind?

You like Fringe? My dad and I are huge fans, and are currently going through Fringe withdrawl. XD But horror anime sounds good. What ones are you planning to watch?

HappyStarr 08-22-2010 04:12 PM

haha I just got into Fringe. My mom loves it, but she never finished the first season, soooo she bought it. ..And now I've been speeding through it. Great show. I watched it all day for a few days a couple weeks ago, and I had some seriously crazy dreams. Love it. :D

Yes, 7 and 11 year olds that love poker. Just regular 5 card poker (doesn't really know much else...=/ ) I was a bit surprised, too. 7 year old also likes to try to get me to bet with real money, which I wouldn't even if I DID have money (so..poor...T_T )

Umm...Higurashi, Perfect Blue, Elfen Lied...and so on. I honestly haven't seen any yet, but I've been dyin' to for a while now. So....if you know good ones...;)

Mehrana 08-22-2010 04:17 PM

My Dad bought it because we're DVD hoarders ( guess who has over three hundred DVDs on just superheros... ) and the show is awesome, and I've seen most of the episodes. owo

I was raised on Texas Hold'em (five card), because my mom got into watching it after she got laid off. I luff it so much, although I have a severe lack of patience. XD

Frankly, I've never seen a truly scary anime, unless you count FMA- but that's only the movie. *sigh* I'm not a huge horror fan, but I enjoy it every once in a while. oWo

HappyStarr 08-22-2010 04:39 PM

lol I don't even know how why I'm so attracted to it, honestly. The only reasoning I can come up with is 'cause my dad never let me see ANY until a few years ago. He doesn't like it, and he wouldn't even let me watch war movies 'cause I'm a girl. T_T But other than that...I guess I'm attracted to it 'cause I personally like to write darker stories, too. Which is completely opposite what anyone would expect of me...0.o

Your DVD collection sounds awesome already. XD We just grab movies we like. And now we're just trying to collect all the Disney ones (for my personal collection >D).

I was never raised on any gambling or anything (not surprising, really.) We used to play a little bit when we got together with my aunt and uncle, 'cause my aunt's a total card shark. But we haven't done any lately.

Mehrana 08-22-2010 06:11 PM

You write dark/horror stories? You should post some on Mene. I'm a very sad writer- A.K.A. I'm not very good. ^^;;

Yay, Disney! XD My dad owns every superhero movie ever made, and also owns at least part of every superhero show every aired in the U.S., Marvel and DC. :3 Needless to say, I'm a huge geek.
he also owns over 2k action figures.

We don't actually gamble very often- we just like to play cards in general, although Poker is a family favorite. ^^ I'm too young to gamble, anyhow.

HappyStarr 08-22-2010 06:52 PM

lol ah...we don't even play cards at all anymore. :gonk: My family's so boring.

*aherm* I...attempt...to write dark stories, I guess I should say. I don't think they're that good. And I have yet to finish a single one. And the more stories I start, the longer my list of "traumatizing situations to put characters in" gets. About to be sacrificed by vampires to the devil, post-war PTSD, soul taken as the death god's servant, and so on... 0.o Makes me feel kinda twisted, actually.

Ahhhh! I wish I knew more about the superheroes and comic books and such. I love the ideas, but I was never raised on them. I was exposed to a ton of anime as a kid, though. That's about as close as I get. XD I don't think my dad ever even picked up a comic book. He's such a stick in the mud ;3; One of my friends and her dad are totally obsessed, though, so the height of my exposure is usually through interacting with her.

Mehrana 08-22-2010 07:01 PM

We just sit around. We live in the nerd cave. XD

Ehh, 's okay. As long as nothing gets too angsty, it couldn't possibly be that bad, I think. You're a better author than I am by any rate, so. All of my horror turns into angsty emo at some point. :gonk:

I was exposed to superheros from birth by my dad, sci-fi from both parents, and fantasy from mostly my mom. ^^;; Nerd from birth. Anime came later, when a neighbor introduced me to Fullmetal Alchemist. That neighbor's my very best friend, and we're both Anime-freaks now, so. XD That's cool that you were raised on Anime, though. I wish I was, but I guess Star Trek can subsititue for that.

HappyStarr 08-22-2010 07:39 PM

lol I really can't say much about the anime thing. I don't even remember it. My mom said we used to watch Ghost in the Shell, Ranma 1/2, Ah! My Goddess, and Record of Lodoss War, but not even watching the shows themselves triggers any memory. T_T Only one I remembered was Sailor Moon, and that's 'cause I watched it daily from the first episode until it was canceled on Cartoon Network. My dad was really opposed to anime...so, I guess that's part of it.

haha I think I could be content with it even turning into angsty emo, so long as it actually turned into something. I just hit a rough spot and quit, leaving my characters to suffer for eternity.

My family doesn't even sit around. We all seem to avoid each other like the plague. My dad's awkward to talk to, under any circumstance, my stepmom thinks we're all evil or something, and my mom's engrossed in WoW any minute she's not sleeping or at work. 0.o ... But! At least I'm headin' out to a real college in a few weeks! Life's gonna get wayyy less boring. >D

Mehrana 08-22-2010 07:56 PM

I don't remember watching anything but Friends until I was six, but my family tells me that we've watched Star Trek forever. *shrugs* Of course, most of my memory consists of Kingdom Hearts cutscenes, so. XD There's not a lot of room in there for anything but fansplurge.

Been there and done that- I've only ever finished one [fan, because I have no imagination]fiction, and it was about seven paragraphs/1 page in 12 size Cambria text long. >.< It's up on Mene... somewhere. And it's not even that good. D:

Yay for less boring! I'm still a preteen, and there's only me, my mom and my dad here in a relatively small two-bedroom apartment, so avoiding each toher is hard. XD And we only have one computer and it requires a crowbar to get my off of it, and the TV's in the living room so we can't avoid each other. OwO Good luck at college!

HappyStarr 08-22-2010 08:04 PM

lol thanks! Ah...I've kinda always wanted to try living in an apartment. I always thought it would a better kind of location for my mom, since we really don't need that much space. We just have a lot of clutter, and getting an apartment would force us to finally get rid of it. Though, I can understand why she hasn't, since getting even a 1 room apartment here is expensive enough. For now, we're just in a hellhole townhouse. I'm practically prayin' every day her company opens up more branches in another state with cheaper housing (which, really, is anywhere else but here). It'd be so good for her. =/

Ahhh preteen years... I bet your stuff will get better as you get older. Just keep goin' at it (pff like I'm one to talk...XD)

Mehrana 08-22-2010 08:12 PM

You're welcome!
I live in an apartment and we have a lot of clutter. D: I'm sorry that you guys live in an expensive area! We do, too, and sometimes it's not very fun, but we're only here for the school system. ^^;;

I can try, I guess. I'm not too bad, I don't suppose, but thanks for the support! Do you like Kingdom Hearts, by any chance?

HappyStarr 08-22-2010 08:20 PM

lol I love Kingdom Hearts. Though, sadly, it's yet another game on my "Unfinished game" list. 0.o... I think the only game I've beaten myself, ever, was Flower. And that was a 10 minute downloadable PS3 game. Hopefully, I'll get to take that with me, though, and then I can play all I want.

And, ya. I don't really know why we're here. My dad took the job offer in this area (military), and right after he and my mom split. So while he's doin' alright, my mom's barely managing but refusing to leave until we're old enough to move out so she doesn't lose any custody (right now, it's just my sister, really.)

And, yes! Dooo tryy! ^_^ It only ever gets better with time and practice.

Mehrana 08-22-2010 08:33 PM

Hooray! Another KH fan! :boogie: I asked because I wanted you to take a look at this- if you want/have the time- because you're older than me a very good authoress yourself. ^^ It's totally random, of course, but so am I. XD

Oh, I'm sorry! That's awful. Good luck, with everything.

I willlll! And that's what I hear, anyway.

HappyStarr 08-22-2010 08:39 PM

Ahh I'll definitely take a look at them. I can't right away, though, so I apologize for that. Gotta help a friend move.

It's no big deal, really. ^_^" We've been living with it for years. A few more can't hurt.

Mehrana 08-22-2010 08:41 PM

Go ahead, go ahead! There's only one, but take your tiiiime. owo

Well, I'm wishing you luck anyway.

HappyStarr 08-22-2010 11:07 PM

lol, well, thanks. :]

Ahh I sorry. I'll look at it. ^_^"

Mehrana 08-22-2010 11:26 PM

You're welcome.

Don't be! It's okay. :3
So... what'dya think?

HappyStarr 08-23-2010 12:14 AM

haha it's cute. It seemed a little rushed at some point, but it's not that bad. =]

Mehrana 08-23-2010 12:34 AM

Oh thanks! The end was sort of rushed, because my attention span is rather short and I wanted done with it, so. XD It's old, and I can do better, but, alas, not by much. ^^;;

HappyStarr 08-23-2010 12:39 AM

haha it's okay. I understand. ^_^ Not like I could ever say much about my own writing. Or...rather...I could probably come up with TONS if I were left for hours over it. 0.0

Mehrana 08-23-2010 02:21 PM

Hehe, yeah. ^^
Other people make writing look easy, darnit! It's not! D:

Gemini 08-24-2010 03:57 AM

Oi,HappyStarr, just so you know,Elfen Lied is better as manga. The anime absolutely sucked,it ruined the stoyline completely, made no sense at all,and had what was possibly the MOST anticlimactic ending in history. And i watched the anime before i read the manga! Trust me,if you want scary,Elfen Lied is a good one,but not the anime.Go for the manga.Lol,i sound like a reviewer.Oh,but the theme song on the anime is great, though.I couldn't get it out of my head for weeks after i watched.

HappyStarr 08-24-2010 04:25 AM

haha I'll probably watch the anime anyway. I like listening to the Japanese. ^_^" But I thank ye for the review. At least now I'll know ahead of time that the ending is trash. ...Just like every other anime I've watched in the past couple months.

Gemini 08-24-2010 06:18 AM

Lol,no problem.I really do recommend reading the manga, though. You get alot more info,so you're not left wondering, plus there's a very satisfying ending. If you need a link to where you can read it for free, just ask.i have plenty of sites like that.^-^
