Eric smiled slightly. Jessica let out a sigh of relief. She ran a hand through his hair. "How do you feel?" Jessica asked.
Luke winced. "Bad." He groaned.
Eric took this opportunity to repeat his earlier threat to a now sober Luke. Then he explained about the anti toxin and detox. Jessica although happy he was awake and talking had something on her mind. "Why didn't you tell me?" She asked after Eric's explanation.
Luke just listened and then blinked. He looked at her. "Tell you that I did drugs? Are you crazy?" He asked.
Jessica winced at the word crazy, but looked at him straight in the eye. "It would have prevented me from threatening to kill you earlier." She said with a coolness she had never used with Luke. "You know what forget it. I'm going to my room." She gathered her homework and wiped the tears away as she walked down the hallway.
Luke grimaced and followed her weakly. "What was I suppossed to say Jessica?! 'Hey! I missed you so much. Oh! and guess what? I do drugs!?"
Jessica turned to face him. "How about "Hey Jessica, sorry I forgot about you for the first six hours I was back. Or 'Hey Jessica, I missed you, but I can't be with you because I have a fiance.' I didn't even push you away after all that. Why the hell would I push you away for something like drugs? Something that we can work on." She said with a lot more force than usual.
Luke looked down. "Because.... Because I'm not proud of it...." He whispered.
Jessica sighed and dropped her homework. Walking over to him, she took his face in her hands. "I have a drawer full of sketches of what you may have looked like, yet I showed them to you. The point is when I told you I missed you and I was glad you were back. I didn't want the Luke who kissed me in the fourth grade, I wanted the grown up Luke."
Luke looked at her. "That doesn't change how I feel..."
Jessica sighed. "What I wanted you to get from all that is that I loved you and was willing to accept you for you. I wanted to know everything, not just the good stuff. So no secrets from now on." She said firmly.
Luke gulped. "I'm not a virgin."
Eric who had been eavesdropping choked on his cup of coffee. Jessica's eyes grew wide for a second. "Okay. I can handle that. I wear bikinis." She told him honestly, which caused Eric to cough even more. "Eric go home." She ordered looking around Luke to her brother who held his hands up in surrender and left with a smile on his face.
Luke gritted his teeth. "I can handle that." He growled.
Jessica sighed. "I was also on the swim team in high school." She said raising an eyebrow.
Luke let out a breath. "I spent a night in jail."
Jessica smiled at him. "I got drunk once." She told him and then laughed a little. "I also accepted chocolates on Valentine's Day."
That pissed Luke off. He growled under his breath.
Jessica sighed. "Easy, Luke. I didn't get upset about yours." she reminded him. Sighing, she took a deep breath before continuing. "I also went to homecoming with a boy, but my mom made me so it doesn't count!" She said hoping she had said it quickly enough so he didn't catch it.
But Luke hadn't. Even him, who had lost his virginity, hadn't taken not a single girl to not a single dance. He trembled with anger and a little bit of hurt.
"Luke, I'm sorry. I really, really, really am." Jessica said trying to make amends for something she had no choice of. "I left right after I got there. No dances, nothing. Can you forgive me?" She asked, hoping that he would and also hoping he didn't ask for the name of the guy who took her.
Her luck was not good. "What was his name?" Luke growled.
Jessica cursed her luck, but sighed. "I made you promise no more secrets, so I won't keep any from you. Derek." She said hoping he would forgive her.
