The kelpie ducked under his arms, and scooped him up over his shoulder with ease. "When you're older," he mumbled, thankful the dark could hide how red he was. He made a large, bright red mental note to beat up Kaudron. "Much later--you dont want to learn. I promise."
|
"Whoa!" He thought he'd slide completely off the other side, and he clutched at the kelpie's back, scared at first. Then he realized that he was fine and that he wouldn't fall, but he didn't want to be up there. His tail waved in Nin's face, trying to annoy him into putting him down. Var groaned, poking him in the back. "Put me down! And I don't want to wait till I am older. I don't exactly age, so that will be years from now! What's so bad about it? Why do you retreat home after you see it? What do the they do? Why do they make funny noises and try to eat each other's tongues?" He was talking at a mile a minute, going on and on. And he still wasn't finished. He made the same noise he had before while inhaling Nin's scent. "Kaudron said that that was a sexy noise and that I had the hotsies for you. What does that mean? Is that the same as the wrestling? I have a right to know! I mean, you like it, right? This wrestling? Wrestling wrestling. I wanna know what it iiiisssss!!!!!" |
Nin just kept walking, jaw locked. His eyes were a bit wide, despite the fluffy tail in his face, and he tried his very best not to say anything. Or do anything. Or react.
Damn you, Kaudron. Damn you. The moan almost made him drop him, and he stumbled a bit to keep him on his shoulder. He very nearly blurted out 'mating, they're mating,' but his pride wouldn't let him forcefully shut the child up. Instead he just grit his teeth and set him down at the edge of the trees, building a clothing glamour for him. "Look, just...it's. It is an attractive noise, it means you have a matting attraction to me, you don't want to learn to wrestle, and hide you tail. Come on," he grabbed his hand and tugged, cheeks red. Damn you, Kaudron. Again. |
Just as he thought he'd be carried the whole way, he felt Nin stumble beneath him, and then put him down. He fixed his glamoured outfit and huffed, crossing his arms and looking him in the face. Quickly the other answered all his questions, mostly, and Var was shocked to see the angled face in a red color. Was he....blushing? Blushing was not a reaction he had expected, so he tumbled along quietly, looking like a human girl again. He chewed on his lips and sighed. "I've upset you again." he stated, hand going limp in the other's. Nothing he did to try and cheer him up went well. He always caused him a problem of some sort. |
"No," he sighed heavily, letting go of his hand anyway. "No you haven't. Just...it's a personal...interest, to observe humans." Right, observe, he mused. "It's just...I don't talk about it. What would you like to eat? Do you know what Mexican food is?" He glanced back at him, tilting his head. "Would you like to be a boy tonight?"
|
Var wasnt about to dismiss it as easily as he was. "Why do you not talk about it? Is there something wrong with it?" he asked, before pausing to think, then nodding his head. "Yes, I would very much like to be a boy. I like it better, it's more real." he answered, moving to walk through the street. He'd never heard of mexican, so he wanted to try it, certainly. |
The glamour changed for him without Nin looking. His hands found their way back into his pockets, and he curled his fingers against his palms. Nails bit half moons into the flesh there. "It's a personal fascination," he repeated simply, shaking his head. "Just...it is. It's a personal thing...if you want to know about...'wrestling', go watch someone 'wrestle' if you see them in the forest or something. Im not...going to bring that up. Tomorrow I have some things to teach you," abrupt subject change. "About being a lady."
|
Var let his silvery blue head fall back as he let out a groan, then sighed. "Fine, Kaudron and I will go watch when we see them." Now that he had pockets, he copied as Nin did, though he didn't pierce himself with his nails as Nin did. He looked over at him, walking side by side, and leaned forward to see his face better. "What kind of things about being a lady?" he asked, head cocked to the side curiously. He was all ready rather feminine, what more did he have to learn? The women he knew were whorish and loud and flighty, and he didn't know if he wanted to act that way. |
Somewhere, Kaudron resented that statement.
"Yes, you go watch them wrestle with Kaudron. And I mean, mannerisms, ways to talk. Walk. Act. Smile." A shrug of a shoulder and he turned them towards the main part of the town. "Come on, after we eat we're going to the theatre. Sound okay with you, pup?" A hand was produced and he ruffled his hair. |
Var smiled at the mention of the theater, and he was instantly happy. "No, that is f-" He cut himself as the hand came forth, and he nipped at it, glaring at him in warning. "Don't call be pup!" he huffed, hands on his hips. He was, again, offended. He smiled, though, and latched onto the arm closer to him, and looked around the street at the different buildings. "So, which one is the mexican restaurant? What should I get? I don't know about human food, as you know." |
"I will call you what I like," he rolled his eyes, then tapped him on the cheek with the side of his hand. "Don't you nip at me, boy. I could bite off your pretty little tail."
From happy, to angry to happy, and Nin was somewhat taken aback by being latched onto. He glanced down at the kilin, slowly raising a brow at him, before pointing to a very lit up joint down the road. "That one, with all the strange lights. They're very loud, but very good." |
The kilin stuck his tongue at him any how, then looked down to where he pointed. He heard the music and the smiling faces eating outside. He liked all the colors and the smells and the sounds coming from it, so he tugged along and headed there. Var pulled into the place seeing the many waiting people and the three girls standing behind a wooden object. They smiled at him and asked how many, and he looked back to Nin with a puzzled look. How many what? |
"Two," Nin chimed, leaning to very nearly brush his lips against Var's ear. "And if you stick your tongue out again, you may not get it back." A slow smirk spread across his lips, before he stood back up and looked expectantly at the hostesses. "A booth, away in a corner, preferably. Do you need a name?"
Should they say yes, he prayed Var wouldn't ask him thirty thousand questions about the alias he would be giving them. It wasn't exactly his way, to express his 'true' name. Not many on this side of the iron had names like the fae, and would probably just eye him strangely. He'd rather avoid scrutiny, if possible. |
Var winced softly at the threat, sure of it to be true, and he held the blasted tongue in his mouth, no longer saying anything. Surely, he would forget and begin to speak again when they were alone, but for now he used self control. The young ladies smiled at the two, but they stared more at Nin, finding him extremely cool and handsome. They were especially pleased to see Var was a young boy, looking perhaps fourteen or fifteen, so they didn't worry that they were a couple. The one girl that held the menu's shook her head, and led them to a booth as they requested. Var looked around at the many families in there, and a few couples in some places. He scooted into the booth and grasped the menu that was laid down before them. The hostess stood straight told them that their waiter would be right with them, then she headed off to giggle and gossip with her co-workers. Their mannerisms reminded the fae of pixies, the way they talked not so hushed in their groups. He looked over to Nin, peering over the menu. "Are you going to choose for me?" he asked, expecting him to. |
Nin winked at their hostess as she flitted away, glancing over at the girls with a pale smirk, before crawling into the booth across from the boy. Sometimes, these human women were to easy to lure away. Maybe one...No, Var was with him. Maybe tomorrow.
The menu was nudged open over the table and he glanced over it once, before crossing his knees and glancing up at Var through his hair. "It depends, some stuff they make at these places is very spicy, others bland. Find something you think sounds like something you would enjoy, and I'll tell you more about it." He flipped the page. "Lots of meals here are almost entirely composed of meat, so..." |
Var saw how he regarded the girls and felt a little down, sinking into his seat. In a way, he was a bit jealous, but he wasn't sure why. Surely Nin wasn't attracted to these ladies. The boy made a face when he spoke about bland food, and while he wasn't sure how spicey tasted, he figured it was better than bland. One of the names of food he found had the word cheese in it, leading him to assume that's all there was. Var had no idea how to pronounce the..Mexican word, so he just nudged the menu closer to Nin and pointed. "What is that, then?" he asked, looking up when a male waiter, looking rather irritable, came up and asked them what they wanted to drink. |
"Tea," Nin said blandly, eying Var's request and shrugging. "I think you'll be fine with that one, safe. There's chicken in it. You liked the chicken last time." He glanced at the waiter and arched a brow at him, then canted his head. "Would you mind being a bit nicer? Are we inconvenient?"
|
Var looked over to the waiter and smiled, asking for just water. The waiter wrote down quickly what he wanted, apologized to him, then walked away to put in their orders. Var looked over to Nin with a questioning look. He wondered what was wrong with their waiter. |
"We're costomers," he shrugged and sat back in his booth, crossing his ankles beneath the table. Then, the thought to elaborate dawned on him. "He's suppose to be nice to us, treat us well, so I tip him and we come back to spend more money. I don't think I'll be giving him much of a tip," another shrug, and he turned his eyes back out to the patrons. Some stuck out to him more than others, ones who would be easiest to lure away from the pack. Weak ones, nervous ones, ill ones, young. All from various types of lifestyle--and oh was he so tempted. "When we're finished eating, I want you to stay here for a bit," he glanced at him. "I have somewhere to go, after this but it wont take long. You sit and keep comfortable, all right, when it comes around. I'll come and get you."
|
"No." Var glared over at him, head shaking. He was not about to be let alone to sit awkwardly in a booth while Nin left to do something. "I'm not going to be alone." he stated, fumbling with the napkin in his lap. If the kelpie had to do something secretive, then he could do it, but he wasn't about to be abandoned at iron side. "I'll go home if you want to be alone." But, dear, Var for sure didn't want to be. |
"..." The kelpie gave him a dark look across the table, but otherwise said nothing. Instead, he looked back out at the people and began to imagine the way each other look beneath the waves, thrashing, screaming in silence among the currents and blissful weightlessness the water created. A soft sigh escaped him at the thought.
Why couldn't he just bring Var along and leave him at the dock while he took someone down to the water? Why didn't he want him to see that? A frown tugged his lips down, but he disguised it as looking around to see where their waiter had gone. "How long does water and tea take..." |
Var cast his eyes downwards while Nin glared and thought. The little unicorn fidgeted in the booth, picking at the napkin. He knew he made Nin angry with him again, but he didn't care. At least, that's what he told himself. As the other spoke, he looked up, though not at him but around the restaurant. As if on cue, the waiter walked over with a trey and two glasses, setting them down according to order, looking a little more at ease, and took out his little note pad, asking if they were ready to order. Var smiled at the waiter, as if trying to cheer him up, and pointed to the Chicken and Cheese Enchilada, which he couldn't pronounce. "I want that." |
Nin rolled his eyes as the waiter set his drink down, and eyed him warily. A frown settled across his features, and he plucked the tee up to sip at it curiously. No trouble, and set it back down. As Var spoke, Nin chimed in the actual pronunciation of the dish both for the waiter and Var to remember, before ordering tamales for himself.
Then turned his attention to Var, and settled for simply staring at him expectantly. Like he was waiting for him to recall his last outburst and reel it back in with a very passionate and terrified 'I'm so sorry, Sir', as was per custom. |
The waiter leaned over to see what he was pointing to, but heard what it was before he could see, and nodded before proceeding to write it down, then left with their order. Var smiled at the waiter's back and took his water, guzzling it merrily. He looked up to see Nin looking at him, as if expecting something, and the other just stared back curiously. "Is there something on my face?" he asked finally, bringing a hand to his cheek. |
"No, it's lacking a large red hand print," he stated matter-of-factually, putting his own drink to his lips and sipping it. Slowly, bright eyes closed and he drained nearly half the glass. "I'm waiting, and if I don't receive what I'm waiting for, you'll be regretting it. No I wont tell you. You should be able to figure that out yourself, pup."
Behind his glass he grinned, tugging a piece of ice into his mouth by way of dipping his tongue into his glass rather obviously and sucking it into his mouth with a soft 'pop'. |
