Shame_ 08-25-2010 03:14 AM

Var had expected the outing just to be a hunt for his sir, so he was alarmed when he spoke of food, as if he were going to feed Var. He shook his head and touched his shoulder. In seelie lands, there were a lot of physical words, and so he wasn't used to not touching, even though he pulled away.

"Ah, this is for you, sir!" he began, pausing. "I just wanted to follow and watch how you do it, that's all. You needn't fret over me..." He didn't want the Kelpie to hold it against him sometime in the future. "Go wherever it is you planned on going alone. I'll be good and quiet and stay back." he explained, smiling softly at him. He wasn't completely sure why, but he wanted to please Nin.

Looking down at his glamour, he thought a moment, then nodded. "That would be nice." Var told him, then blinked, looking down. Nice? It...sounded like it fit. Was that was Nin was doing? Being nice? It certainly was. Something inside him fluttered, and he found it hard to look at the gorgeous kelpie again. He made a stunning human, after all, and it was having an affect on the boy.

Mobius 08-25-2010 03:32 AM

And now his shoulder, good God. A sudden urge to run flailing down the sidewalk and into some sort of hot water cross his mind and, however tempting, he decided against in. Instead, he pushed his hoodie sleeve up and just scratched up and down his arm until it was red and raw, then tugged it back down. There. Pain overrides...whatever he was feeling.
Or maybe he could convince himself it did.
"I will buy us both dinner," For a moment he turned back into the forward, searching for the tree with the knot hole. "My hunt is done alone, I do not take even Kaudron. You need food as well, and can not have you dying." He could feel the boys smile, almost. And felt his eyes on him, as if glued there. Nice? He could be nice. Why did the boy sound...confused. Nin was always nice.
Wasn't he?
He was a nice guy.
"Yes it is," he said finally.
...Why did he decide he was a nice guy? The bloody hell was wrong with him?
Maybe he really did need to murder something cute and fuzzy, very viciously.

Shame_ 08-25-2010 03:46 AM

"What are you doing?!" Var grabbed his hand, pulling it away from his arms and gently touched the redenning skin. He was baffled by that action, and looked up at the kelpie with furrowed brows. Hurting yourself was a new thing to him, and he didn't see why Nin would want to hurt himself.

Var paused and crossed his arms, tapping his hoof impatiently. "If you do it alone, then why did you ask if I wanted to come along?" he asked pointedly, rolling his eyes and following him around the forest. "I can get food myself, you don't have to buy it from some human." He knew nothing of restaurants and the like of the human world, but he understood buying food. Usually he'd have to trade something to get it.

Different emotions and thoughts flashed over the Kelpie's face, and Var saw them. Did the kilin say odd and confusing things? No, he made sense, so why did he look puzzled or irritated? If he didn't want him to come along, then he wouldn't have asked...

Mobius 08-25-2010 03:56 AM

And now it hurt, and tingled. "Do refrain from touching me." Nin sighed, finally, and shoved his hands into his pockets. What was the Seelie's affection of touch? Did they all do it? Probably, they were all shiny and made of effing rainbows.

The second part, caught him off guard. "I am buying you dinner, and you will accept it. I said I was going to eat, not hunt. I do eat what I hunt, but I..." 'I' what? Why wasn't he hunting? Why hadn't a real hunt crossed his mind? Almost silently and unwanted, the thought 'It would take to long' sprung up. Take to long from what? Being in the pond? "I can not be that far away from you, now," he settled. It wasn't even hard to say...he had thought it would have caught in his throat, as all lies had. But there was no resistance. Was it a truth then? Bother. This was only further complicated.

The clothes shifted and changed to a flowy, knee-length white skirt, and a pale violet tank-top with a white shrug--and his hooves, would become bare feet, then wound in white, strappy sandals. The hair was left along, save for a bit of length added--nothing else was done. Nin forced himself to look; he'd created the clothes, he knew what they looked like. What they would look like actually on, was what might cause...trouble. "Content?"

Shame_ 08-25-2010 09:52 PM

Var looked down and stepped back, tucking his hands behind his back. He wondered how he was being so bold at to touch Nin, and realized that he didn't even notice that he was doing it. "Y-Yes, sir. Sorry, sir." he said, ducking away.

The Kilin couldn't understand what he meant. How long did it take to hunt, anyhow? He shook his head, deciding not to ask. The Kelpie knew what he wanted, so there was no point in arguing. "Thank you, then." he said meekly, watching the ground.

Then he felt the glamour shift. When he bent forward and looked down, he could see a full white skirt and shoes. He touched his shirt and hair, and practically everything that changed. He didn't really like looking like a woman, but he twirled anyway, happy to at least look good. "I'm content, yes. I'd rather be male, like I am, but...." he then shrugged.

Mobius 08-25-2010 10:51 PM

Whent he boy was finally done touching, Nin seemed to completely relax. His shoulders dropped a bit, and he sighed softly. The tingling would stop. Finally.

"You're good to accept my offer," is as close as the Sir would come to 'you're welcome'. He was still scolding himself mentally, about affections and getting close. This was why you left the court, he said. This was why you left your mate, he said. This is why you don't get cute shiny Seelie men skirts, he said, as he glanced over at Var. He watched the young man twirl, and decided to leave out the comment on that, anything besides his hair, his physicals were all the same--male. But for some reason, that made the skirt even more...provocative? He let that stew in his mind for only a moment, before shaking it violently.

Eventually, they came to the tree he'd searched for. From it, he removed a couple of wallets; kept one black leather one, and filled it with money and a bank card from the others. No metal, no Iron, he was good. "Where we'll be going, you will get a salad. It's entirely vegetable."

Shame_ 08-25-2010 11:28 PM

It seemed that the distant made Nin a lot more comfortable, so he wondered how he was going to act like his mate. Going to a place where other Un-Seelie fae collected would require, as well as comfort, the boy to stay close. He does not want to be swooped away by someone else, that was for sure. He bit his lower lip in thought, then looked up.

So, what he was saying was, you're welcome, right? Var wasn't so sure, but he just smiled and nodded, continuing to look at his clothes. He giggled and swished his hips side to side, watching the skirt alternate, then he spun really really fast until he was dizzy, and he propped himself against a tree, so not to lay on the dirty ground.

He didn't know what a salad was, but he knew what vegetables were, and he smiled, excited. He couldn't wait to try this human food, this "salad". He wanted to hug the Kelpie, and moved to do so, arms out, when he shook his head and tucked his hands to himself again, trying to refrain. "Well, then, let's go!" he chirped, hopping once then moving in the direction of the Iron.

Mobius 08-25-2010 11:39 PM

Nin forced himself to count the dollar bills, fingers burning from where the money had been in contact with iron. It bothered him, how completely engulfed in the Iron city he and the boy would end up, but he was sure Var was smart enough not to touch anything. Or wander off. Or get kidnapped. He'd keep him close.

The wallet was tucked away and he made sure his sleeves covered his entire arm, before he wrapped it around Var's shoulders when they reached the sidewalk. "Don't wander off. The humans aren't exactly...proper," That was the safest way to put it. This city was small, but this part was so over run with drunk college kids he could hardly stand himself. The men were crude and very randy, and not that Nin was a wholesome man, but enough was enough at some point. "Human males aren't exactly kind, either."
Why warn him? That bond, he convinced himself. The deal set them together, he couldn't let the little...'prop' get to far away.

Shame_ 08-26-2010 12:06 AM

Var's blue eyes bounced around the area that Nin took up, watching his fingers, then up to his face, then back down, then to hist posture. His head tilted to the side ever so slightly. What hurt so much? Did those green things hurt? He wanted to touch them, being such a curious creature, but he held himself back, something he'd have to get used to.

Var peeked left and right as they made it out into Ironside. It reeked and made him feel weak and tired, and he wanted to leave. Then, Nin came over and put his arm around him. Wasn't it him who said not to touch? Now he was confused, and listened as he spoke about human's and their behaviors.

"I promise I won't even look at another human if I can handle it." he vowed, looking up at him and nestled into his side. Even if he was just a tool to keep an ex-mate away, he couldn't help but be flattered at his concern, and he convinced himself that he wasn't totally horrible, like he thought before.

Mobius 08-26-2010 02:22 AM

"You're free to look," he said simply, keeping his arm around him. "Do not converse with." He dusked his head, a woman eyed him curiously. After a brief shake of his head, the blond hair fell to cover his golden eyes. "I don't want you getting compromised," he 'lied' again. He told himself it didn't bother him say, because he needed the boy healthy. "We'll be going to an Italian restaurant. I'll pick your salad for you, sometimes it has chicken or the like in it." With that, he covered his hand with a sleeve and hit a stop-light button, waiting for the walk signal. A man walked by and gave him a lewd gesture, about Var, and Nin simply flipped him off.

Shame_ 08-26-2010 02:58 AM

Could they really be that horrible? He saw a woman walk by and give them a look. She looked so plain, and he made a face. He was so very happy that he wasn't a human. "I still don't think I want to look." Var grumbled, rolling his eyes.

"What is Italian?" He'd been meaning to ask for awhile, but he kept getting distracted and forgot about it. "And why can't I order? I'm not a child...And I can try meat..." Again, his lips pursed and wiggled, and he huffed. Var had missed the gesture by the other man, but caught the extension of the finger from his Sir. "And what does that mean?" Such odd words and gestures.

Mobius 08-26-2010 03:21 AM

"Italian is a type of food, from a country called Italy. You Seelie don't come iron side much, apparently." He glanced down at him, then lead him across the street with a gentle tug. They wove in between people, Nin taking special care not to let Var touch anyone. "You can order if you like, and if you want to try meat, you'll try some of mine. Salad meat tends to be...cold," it made him shiver. "I'll probably have chicken or beef anyway. What does what mean?" He seemed to relax when on the other side, and stopped to look at him. "What I did, or what that man did?"
Bother, he looked precious. No, bad Nin. But he really did. The pastels fit the boy's complexion, and the skirt was just the right, flattering length. It almost made him smile, but he kept that to himself. And hopefully he didn't ask what either of those two gestures meant, because that would both be very awkward, and irritating. He really didn't want to explain human idioms.

Shame_ 08-26-2010 03:31 AM

He knew what a country was, so now it all made sense. It was a cultural thing, then. He became excited again, wanting so desperately to try this new thing right at that moment. He looked at the many faces of the human's and they all seemed to blend, looking the same. Dull. But, there were a few that looked....different. Interesting, what with their contrasting colors and wild hair.

"That thing with your finger. And that human male did something? What did he do?" Now he was full of questions, looking up at the kelpie with large inquisitive eyes. It seemed Nin always spiked his curiosities to a new high. And then Nin was looking at him, a very odd expression dancing in his eyes.

Mobius 08-26-2010 03:37 AM

"..." The questions brought him pause. Of course he would ask about exactly what Nin didn't want to be asked about, wouldn't he? He sighed heavily, running a large hand through his messy locks. "The man made a rude gesture implying something akin to your...beauty," he settled on that. Another soft sigh. "It was not a very nice thing, so, I responded with a rude gesture to tell him to leave you, and myself, and whatever is between us alone. And he has. Shall we go now?" He motioned down the street, carefully winding an arm around him to guide him this way and that. Why he felt a need to do so...was anyone's guess. Mentally he wished Kaudron had wanted to mess with his hair or do his nails, or whatever else fairy women do.

Shame_ 08-26-2010 10:13 PM

Var looked after the man as he walked away and at the woman, then back up to Nin as he explained. "Beautiful?" he asked, giving him a look. He was hardly beautiful. Besides, beautiful was a woman term, then he remembered that to the human he WAS a woman. He sighed and trotted along.

Var looked up at the restaurant as they finally made it, and watched the speak that let loose some sort of sound, or rather, some sort of music. Then when they went inside, there were so many humans crowded around one little wooden podium with more humans in the back. He wanted to ask what they were doing, but he figured he'd see anyhow.

Mobius 08-26-2010 10:25 PM

"Yes, beauty." He lead him both down the street, and into a restaurant. It took about ten minutes, until the woman came over with a smile, and motion.
"This way."
Nin nodded, and motioned for Var to follow closely with her. He took up just behind the kilin, hands shoved again into his pockets. "Just...be quiet," he mumbled. Goodness knows, the silly child would blurt out some obviously abnormal questions.

The woman set their menus down at a booth, nodded, and scampered away. Nin crawled into one side, motioning for Var to do so in the other. "Have you had anything to drink besides water before?"

Shame_ 08-26-2010 11:10 PM

Var followed behind the lady, looking at her as she walked. She looked like one of the Queen's Girls the way she walked. It was a little snooty and he couldn't help but giggle and then mimick, before crawling into the booth awkwardly. He looked down at the glass that was prepared, and then at the large parchment.

"Ah, of course. All of our drinks back in Seelie land, I have had them all. Human drinks....not so much." Var answered with a "duh" look and a smile. Then he couldn't help but giggle. "You know, you tell me not to say anything, and then you go and ask me a question. And if I don't talk, then people will wonder why we're just eating and not speaking, won't they?" It seemed logical. Did humans even think that way? Besides, back at home, he could
never
stop talking back at home.

Mobius 08-26-2010 11:18 PM

He had a point, but Nin would never voice such an observation out loud. "You may like tea. We'll get you some." His own menu was pulled open and he scanned through it very quickly, having become content and able in reading human writing. He settled on a type of pasta with meat sauce, and glanced back at Var.

"You have Seelie drinks? We just drink a lot of wine. What on earth are your drinks? Pink, sparkly and made of pure sugar?" Probably, Nin thought to himself. 'Since you seem to be.'

Shame_ 08-26-2010 11:42 PM

Again he huffed, annoyed, and leaned back into the booth, arms crossed. Tea? What the hell was that? He didn't want some flimsy drink, even if Nin assumed that was all he could drink. He looked up at him, his blue eyes flashing darkly.

"If you must know, we drink fermented beverages just as you Unseelie." He was appalled that he assumed that Seelie Kingdom was all rainbows and bunnies. It wasn't all happiness. It had it's own dark side to it. "We know how to have fun, despite what you assume." Var picked up his menu and looked over all the different types of food, and found what looked like it read 'Salad' and looked at the many different kinds, then put it down. "I want whatever you end up getting." he announced, sitting up and crossing his arms defiantly.

Mobius 08-26-2010 11:51 PM

A pale brow began to rise towards his hair line, and a smirk grew on his face. "God damn thing Im not eating the baby rabbit then."
The waitress came over and asked for drinks. "Rum and coke double shot, tall," he flashed her a smile--a charming one, with a quick glint of white teeth beyond. Something about it made him almost sparkle, eyes glinting dangerously beneath his hair. She seemed dumbfounded, mouth hanging open at him. His brow rose further, and he looked away. Whatever he'd done to her lessened, and she shook her head.
"Uh-um, and you?" She glanced at Var.

Shame_ 08-27-2010 12:13 AM

With much curiosity, he looked between the waitress and Nin, and saw the looks they exchanged. Var almost thought she would melt right there in that spot and turn into a puddle, but luckily, she didn't. When he was addressed, he paused, then looked over to Nin, then back at the dazed woman.

"Ah...I'll just take tea....And a salad." He did realize that he had backed out about wanting what Nin was going to have, but he decided not to risk it in case he didn't like it. He'd ask to try what Nin got to drink, anyhow.

Mobius 08-27-2010 05:15 AM

"Which S--"
"The ceaser, she forgets the name. I'd like the veal ravioli."
Nin handed her the menu and flashed her another smile. She took both menus robotically, smiling nervously back at the kelpie, before scampering off and giggling at her co-worker. Nin ran his hand through his hair and grinned, a bit cocky. "It's easier every century..."

Shame_ 08-28-2010 12:15 AM

Var was having a hard time coping with being called a girl. He kept trying to protest at being called on, only to remember that's what he was acting as. He watched the woman walk away, then glanced back over to Nin.

"Quite the charmer to women, aren't you." he mused, sipping at his water. He thought it was odd that they gave them both water, and whatever they ordered. "So, what do people do at dinners? And what should I expect for this ball?" He knew he wasn't supposed to talk, but he'd go crazy if he didn't.

Mobius 08-28-2010 03:44 AM

Nin relaxed back in his seat, stirring his water with the straw. Var's question made him look up, and he almost laughed. A crooked, genuine smile crossed him. "Charmer? It's what I do, how do you think I hunt? Leap from trees? And, as for dinners, we sit and talk, and wait for food." The next question was a bit puzzling. The smile faded to a thoughtful frown, and he brought his water glass up to his lips to sip it. "The ball...you will need to act as though you're in love with me. There will be lots of touching," that part was almost said to himself. "People will ask if we're mated, if they do, just nod. Smile, maybe hug my arm. Just...don't get all up in my face."

Shame_ 08-28-2010 05:01 PM

Var did as he did and relaxed in his seat, sipping his drink as his questions were answered. A soft blush of irritation went over his pale, glittery cheeks as Nin seemed to make fun of him for asking an obvious question. How was he supposed to know, truly? Var looked around, seeing the many happy faces enjoying their company, and even a few couples sharing food and sipping each other's drinks. They all looked so happy to be with the other person or people at their table....

The little Kilin sighed and looked back to Nin as his more important question was answered. His Kelpie Sir didn't look too pleased by it, but he was obligated to answer, anyhow. So, act like he's in love and do a lot of touching? How was he going to pull that off when Nin was so cold? Seeing him at a ball would also be hard, because it's a very merry event, and Nin was hardly 'merry'. At least, Var hadn't seen that side yet.

"What if people ask more detailed questions? Or what if we get separated somehow? And how can there be a lot of touching, but nothing getting in your face? You have such odd requirements...Is this really something so important to go through? If I saw my mate with another man, I would be very upset and try to get her back." If he had a mate, at least. He was sure that's what he would do.

The food came to them, and Var looked up, seeing the leafy greens set place in front of him. He saw the strips of chicken, and felt a little queezy, but the lettuce and baby spinach and dressing looked absolutely divine, and he couldn't help but dig in right that moment.
