Barefoot shoes would you wear them?
Apparently according to Yahoo, barefoot running is the trend right now.
Here's a link: Baring It All: The Barefoot Running Trend - Healthy Living on Shine I was wondering, would these be comfortable to wear? They look it. And I remember when I was little in grade school I ran better in sandals. So, what do you think about them? |
I think they're pretty cool actually! To me they almost look like some really neat water shoes. I don't think they would be all the comfortable though, doesn't seem to be much padding.
|
Interesting design, seems like a gimmick though.. These shoes do not look very supportive or protective from protruding elements of nature, like rocks. I can picture wearing these and harming the joints of one of my toes. A shoe is meant to absorb shock when you run too, this could do more damage than good. Yahoo articles seem to be like plugs for new items very often, like I was reading one about outdated tech and It seemed like it was just a plug for the I-phone.
|
Oh dear, I bet they're uber expensive. Maybe it is a gimmick?
I guess cool looking items are not to be comfortable huh? |
No, they look stupid.
I am much too vain for that shit. Plus I run on unpaved roads and through trails, not on tredmills like they're probably designed for. |
Comfort and fashion appeal can coincide, but you just have to try it on for yourself.. Also I can see this shoe generating a lot more people with athlete's foot for some reason
|
Ok, if I were to buy running shoes, I wouldn't buy those. lol
They just looked cool. (not buying anything yahoo suggests) |
I personally think the shoes look stupid. I've heard from everyone that has them that they're incredibly comfortable and useful and yada yada...but I don't really care much for a shoe that's supposed to feel like you're barefoot if I can just go barefoot. I like being barefoot because I like the feel of the ground. When I do wear shoes, I prefer them to actually look like shoes.
|
Those are definitely not new, and I know a few people who have them.
I don't like wearing toed socks, so I don't think I'd like those shoes. I didn't read the article, but I'm getting the idea that it says that they're for running--they're not designed for that. |
Those are the most hideous things I've ever seen.
I would NEVER be caught dead wearing those. >o>; |
Hm,they don't look very supportive. And anything with toes fitting in makes me uncomfortable.
But I've been in cross country for about 3 years now and I like running barefoot most of the time. It makes me feel comfortable and calm. But of course where I run is nothing but grass..so glass/rocks and all that jazz won't affect my feet. |
they have "barefoot" shoes? thats like reality tv calling itself reality.
|
If you actually read through the article, you'll see that yes, they are made for running. On soft surfaces like grass, flat road, etc. Supposedly it's better to run in bare feet than with shoes, because you strike the midsole and ball of the foot instead of the heel, which changes the posture of the run and the amount of force placed on the body.
I've been hearing about these for several years now, and while I wouldn't wear them most likely (I have bad knees and shouldn't run, even though I'd been making efforts toward jogging), I would like to try them out sometime, just to see the difference in running mechanics. |
They look like they would be rather uncomfortable to wear, and weird to wear altogether. I live in Nevada, where there are lots of rocks, sands, weeds, and dangerous wild animals running around. Those don't seem safe to me to wear for any of those. Not to mention not the least bit supportive. I'm fine using my flip flops for short walks, and tennis shoes for longer walking and working.
|
I so would not buy them I'm much happier with my water shoes. that I have been using all summer long going to the water park that match swim suite.
|
They look like they could be comfortable, but at the same time, for people who don't like/haven't used toe socks, they might find them weird at first. I can't say they make much of a fashon statement in my mind, but if they're easy to wear I could see myself getting a pair if I saw them on the shelf. That said I wouldn't go out of my way to get them.
|
I almost bought those but I decided not to. I have jogged in shoes for a few years now and after every jog my knees would be killing me. So earlier this year I decided to try running barefoot. I couldn't believe how different my knees felt afterward! Like night and day! I always jog barefoot now. I mostly run on dirt trails however so I have never really had a problem with rough terrain and I haven't gone barefoot on asphalt. I imagine that is where those barefoot shoes would come in handy. I know a few people that have decided to give them a try though. One had constant back aches when using regular shoes but after switching over to the barefoot shoes they said their back never felt better. For me I'd rather not fork out 80 bucks just to run "Barefoot" when I can just take off my shoes and really be barefoot. Personally I think they are just the "newest thing" to buy but what do I know?
|
Having shoes that go between my toes sounds terribly, terribly uncomfortable D:
Seeing how I don't run, they would just be a really ugly pair of shoes for me. If I want to walk around barefoot I will do so. It doesn't look like those will make stepping on big rocks or glass or whatever less painful. |
I wouldn't. I have wonky feet. Something about walking on the inside on my feet. It can cause feet and back problems later in life. My grandma is the same and she has to buy expensive shoes now... Oh what I have to look forward to... Hope not. I have already twisted my ankle before which still bugs me in cold weather. I was thinking about getting fitted for some good running shoes. My mum did it and she thinks they are the most comfortable shoes she has ever had. Pricey, but good for your feet in the long term.
EDIT: And I agree with Fabby. Could imagine just running along in those and not noticing a rock or piece of glass on the ground. Ouch! |
They don't look like they're for me. Not just visually, but functionally.
My podiatrist said I'm not even allowed to walk around barefoot anymore thanks to all of the arch and heel pain I have. I have to run no less than ten miles a week thanks to my job. I can't imagine trading running shoes for those. But hey, if they work for some people, then good. :) |
D:
No. I would NEVER consider wearing those. Those are the ugliest things I have ever seen.... -very judgmental about shoes- I have heard of hose and it has come across my mind about how they might feel. |
They look so uncomfortable. Might as well go barefeet
|
it will be cools
|
.....I don't use shoes when I run anyway...I like the feel of the earth against my feet- plus I can gain more speed and momentum that way.
|
A step up from Crocs... but not a very big one. I'd never wear them, as with a lot of things, but hey, to each their own. ;)
Besides my aesthetic dislike of the shoes, however, I don't like the idea of a preset size for my toes to go into. As with gloves (for me), one of the digits is just always off. :S |
