DAMN YOU CAKE!!!
Yet again, I have tried my very best to make a simple sponge cake, and it died. T_T It always dies, not always in the same way, but in two years I have not made one. The only good cake I've ever made mas a marble sponge cake. Once
So, does anyone know any other cakes that are totaly lovely but are pretty much fail proof? Maybe they would give me better luck! Thankies!!!:P |
Maybe if you made cakes more than once every 2 years you'd have a bit more success? What went wrong with this one?
|
opps! I meant one that worked hehe ^_^'
It was burnt around the edges but collapsed in the middle. Maybe it didn't like the thought of being eaten... |
Hmm, I dunno what to suggest for that. It's years since I made a full size cake, I tend to just bake muffins as they're so simple and there's really nothing that you can do to make them fail.
|
Lol.
My mom used to bake cakes all the time..I'd just watch and clean the spoons! so I don't have much advice..try hugging the cake box? |
You can have a lot of things that can be messing with the outcome of your cake. For example. The oven, pan, too much or too little of an incredient. so I suggest you make small sponge cakes. each one with different measurements. That way you can see what the problem is. XD

It's because the cake is a lie.
|
I knew I was doing something wrong!!!
I wasn't giving it enough luff! >:3 evil me! |
Yup! Just make sure you luff it good. ...And if that doesn't work, you could always threaten to tear out its soul and eat it instead. >.>
I really have no experience with sponge cakes, though. I usually just make the standard cake kinda cake. |
My Mom bought my sister cake making for dummies. In there it says that even though it says that your oven is cooking at 350 degrees or so, depending on the age of the stove it could be cooking at a higher or a lower temperature. So when baking cakes at 350 degrees, my sister/mom raises the temperature of the oven by 25 degrees so that in reality the oven cooks at 350. (I hope that makes sense)
Perhaps yours is cooking at too high of a temperature and you don't realize it? |
Hmmm...yeah! I did think it felt a little too hot. Next time I make some I'll make sure to work out the right setting!! Thankies!!
But for now...I'm trying brownies. Never done them. At least if I burn them then hopefully no one will notice on sight X3 |
And even burnt brownies can taste alright, as long as it's just the bottoms. They're just more bitter...>.> And you could frost them to mask it. ...now I want some..
|
X3 Thanks for that I'll remember the frosting idea hehehe!
I'm going to have to wait until tomorrow because I forgot the shops close at 4 T_T |
HAHA! At the place where I used to work they often had flapjacks in the canteen and one day they had chocolate one them. Someone commented on this and I said I bet it was because they'd burnt them. This other person gave me a >_> look and bought one anyway but I was right, it was burnt under the chocolate
|
I once set a stove on fire. >.< Okay...so it wasn't just once. I got kicked out of home-ec. for setting the stove on fire three times. They had to buy a new stove. So don't feel bad about the failed cake. |
Ohhh! >.< I just set myself on fire! Gas cookers are evil.
I've made teh brownies now, they're really good! Looked like a disaster at first though. Nothing really worked the way it was meant to. Tasty though :3 |
I think maybe your oven is possessed or something xD
|
Ooooh!! Maybe O_O
I'm have to call ghost busters!!! Anyone have their number?? |
My favorite type of cake is white but it might be more difficult to make unless it's from a box. Cupcakes are more difficult for me as they tend to turn out dry. In order to make them more moist I make sure that I don't cook them too long.
