Health Problem
Ok, so I am 13 years old, 5'4'' and weigh 150 pounds. I know this is a weight problem. Any helpful tips to lose weight? :/
I am really disgusted by myself. |
Eat more vegetables and fruit than anything else, take long walks or find some excercise you enjoy doing and do it FREQUENTLY. Don't eat before you sleep, and find a fun and low impact muscle toning work out that you can do everyday without it feeling like a chore. May take some time to find one but it's SO worth it in the end. :squee: //screwed up the formatting and decided to edit the post. |
ok thank you :]

Being that you're very young and are still growing, losing weight can be a bit tricky for you. Typical diets can rob you of the nutrients you still very much need to grow. I'd recommend consulting your doctor before trying anything big.
But making simple changes is fine. More veggies, less processed junk food, no fast food. That sort of thing. As well as adapting an exercise plan. I can't guarantee you're going to see lots of weight loss through that, but it will be healthier, if that's not what you're doing already. But definitely consult a doctor before you do anything beyond that. |
30 minute exercise 1 every week!! Worked for me, and also smaller 3 meal a day portion size! When your eating the right amount and workin out, everything runs smoothly! You just have to want it :]

This sounds trite, but try Weight Watchers, or some related program. Someone on my LiveJournal friends list has lost a massive amount of weight going through Weight Watchers (I think she mentioned 75 lbs, after starting at a larger weight than you) and a real life friend of mine is going with another friend of hers to a class that is held through the VA and has lost about 25 lbs in the last month and a half -- she's down from 299 to about 275 and is quite happy about it since she is just beginning the program.
Also don't overlook the obvious. Check with your doctor. Make sure it isn't a medical condition, or being caused by a side effect of some medication you are on. All that said, I think it is somewhat normal to plateau for a time during weight loss, then lose a bunch more, then plateau again -- but I may be wrong in this, I've never had to seriously diet, I just mix up what I have with vegetables and fruits and lean meats. Not really dieting since I like to indulge a lot. The key is movement and porportions. Also, i would like to reccomend a s much movement as you can fit into an entire date. I mean, if you're sitting down watching TV, try to fit some sort of workout in. I like to lift weights or do my sit-ups and crunches while I'm watching my favorite shows. That really works your metabolism and keeps you burning fat for all day as I've heard. |
I used to weigh just about the same amount as you, and am down to about 125. My problem was that I ate tons of fast food and junk food. So I stopped and dropped tons of weight. And really, that's just about all I did. So if you're eating cookies and twinkies every other day, cut it out.
Since then, I've also gone vegetarian, and I find I hardly even have to count calories. I don't take in too many, so I don't need to worry anymore. |
cyx: i am a vegetarian as well

I've heard that eating 5 smaller meals a day actually helps. People on a diet should eat the most in the morning and the least at night. Stay away from sodas and juices. Water is the healthiest source of liquids, diet or no diet.
