apparently. and that explains why she started getting bitty at us a few days ago.

Just let the mama take care of them for now. You can read up on weening them later. Once they're bigger you can tell if they're male or female cause the boys have balls XD Maybe the pet store will take the babies back when they're grown.

oh yeah, I have had hamsters for years. in fact in college I had a matched pair of hamsters. by the time they had their babies and they were old enough to sell back to the store (a total of 3 months from pregnant to sellable) I'd get just enough money to feed the hamsters for the next 3 months. yes, I used my hamsters as baby factories to keep them fed :headdesk:
it's just that I don't really want to deal with babies anymore. I MIGHT keep one girl so my hamster can have her daughter around. playmates and all that jazz. but I am NOT gonna have 6 hamsters! I only bought 1 because I only wanted 1! the day before I got sick I was cleaning out her cage and mentioned to my son either she's getting fat or she's pregnant. and he got all excited about the idea of baby hamsters. I was just REALLY hoping she was fat. |
Aww. Poor crazy. Well, at least they're just hamsters and not dogs or cats. Those cost more to feed and care for.

yeah, no joke there! my kitty now doesn't even care about the hamsters. all he likes to do is watch when she is in her wheel running around. it's a partially clear blue wheel and you can see her white belly as she runs and he enjoys watching that. he also likes watching tv sometimes and watching traffic go by. the closer it got to Christmas the more often he'd be standing on the floor all reaching up and trying to peek out the front window without actually looking ... just in case Santa wanted to come early ;)

yes, being alone and sick is just plain wrong. but wronger is being sick and there is somebody in the house and they don't even want to be around you because your sick let alone take care of you :(
