Last year I went out to a small town just off the edge of my city of residence where for the festive period the town is a tourist attraction during the evening and night period because of the many houses that have Christmas lights...so there were other things to see apart from the different houses' lights...but after spending the night there we came back in the car mostly without chatting because we didn't want to distract the driver who was concentrating on driving along the winding roads throughout the hlllside.
I remember looking at the night sky during that drive, and when there were no trees or steep hills blocking the night sky view I could see the many bright stars above and I thought that the stars in the night sky was so much more beautiful than any of the Christmas lights on display in the town... |
Sounds pretty. Was it completely clear of clouds?
|
I don't remember, but if there were clouds the stars were still visibly brighter and you could see more of them where we were at the time, which was the winding hillside roads where there were only minimal street lights or just those markers and road that'd glow when headlights shone on them. This compared to the city where most backstreets have street lights.

That's very true. Once had to go really far out to use a telescope to look at mars.
Venus is always visible though... that thing is really bright... I think seeing the planets is my favorite part. |
I've never looked at anything through a telescope before...so have never seen the other planets before. It does sound like interesting viewing though...even if I have no idea what I'm looking at...[XD]
|
The moon is nice to look at with a telescope too
You ever seen a bright red dot in the sky before? |
Yes. That would be Mars.
*is bored* |
I know, I've seen mars many times ^^

*Stumbles into the thread*
Hi bored, I'm Ashtyn, nice to meet you. |
I have never seen noticed a red dot in the sky...but given that I'm not usually the type to go star gazing and admire the night sky I may have and dismissed it as a red plane light...[XD]
