In 100 years...?

In 100 years where do you think human civilization will be? Will we be geniuses that pursue experiments only dreamed of today? Or will we be idiots, our mentality dulled by the constant simplifications of things already simple? Or will the human's just not exist? Tell me here, I'm excited to hear what you think!

In 100 years, I honestly think the earth will be a place I wouldn't want to live. I can imagine in being dirty, not much wildlife, etc.
We're killing it right now, and unless people start caring about the environment, little ecosystems, and other things that make earth up, we'll probably go down pretty quickly.

Where the world is developed, I can see things going downhill very quickly. I always had this theory that people will get to the population max and start dying off in mass numbers. That would take over 100 years though I believe. Since the whole "go green" thing is starting to pick up hopefully that will spread to other countries where they don't use ideas like that.

Or a some kind of disease could wipe man nearly off the face of Earth and only leave remote tribes to survive on islands that have no contact with the mainland. I think I just play too much Pandemic but I can see show something like that could happen.

When I was little I used to think life would be like Star Trek in the future. Spaceships going to new galaxys and stuff. Earth being either filled with metal and electronics, or back to wooden cottages and forests.

I think the future of earth will be unpleasant, the way things are going right now. Both wildlife and humanity.

I rest in the belief that we'll find ourselves in a new dark age. It's like...a cycle. We'll rise and eventually come to the height of ourselves, and then some poor idiot is gonna try something absolutely ridiculous and bring it all crashing down. I mean, maybe we'll have discovered ways to live on the Moon or whatever, but on Earth and as a whole of humanity? We won't have gotten very far.

More advanced technologies, more ways to kill the ecosystem without regard, more ways to kill entire countries of people. More wars, people will nuke each other, then there will only be a handful of people and mother nature returns to the way it should be. Thus starting a new cycle.

Well, that's one way it could happen.
That or Earth just gets more overpopulated and becomes a slum of a place to live in for anyone. Maybe "bubbles" of beautiful land that the wealthy would live in.

Hm, I won't be alive by then that's for sure.
Unless they invent some type of technology that will make you live forever?
Everyone talks about a cycle of Earth..maybe this is the slump..
The new millennium I mean..with wars and pollution maybe the future has something better to offer..

I could be totally wrong about this, but I don't really think the world (at least, as we know it now) will exist in another century or so.

I think that it will be a very uncaring place... as technology grows, people grow more self centred, they don't need anyone else because their tech will provide anything. So I can imagine that in 100 years... we'll be technologically advanced, but our morals will have gone out to lunch.

I think that it'll continue progressing into a very high tech future. There will be things that will simplify our lives even more. Though I think that it will start to fall to the idea of the movie Wall-E.

neonprincessofpluto 09-02-2010 05:16 AM

I think that we will continue to go downhill. Technology will become better and maybe longevity and the like but I don't think that people will be very happy. It seems as though the more that people get the less happy they feel and this could become worse within a hundred years. I too think that at some point in the future, maybe not within the next hundred years but sometime soon, there will be an event that will cause a large portion of the human race to die. The population cannot continue to grow as it is. Something will occur to bring back balance on earth.
