This game can be quite frustrating, as I have at last reached level twenty-one at last and chose to be a magician character it has not been easy. I have wanted to get a hair cut-- but to get one you have to buy with cash a coupon of some sort it seems which sucks-- guess it's one of their site's gimmicks of the sort. I really enjoy the simplicity yet complexity of the game of this side scrolling massive role playing game. It's a bit more chibi animaish than I like but I can live with that. Overall I'm having lots of fun. Let's discuss this game. Overall I am really enjoying this game.

Now the old maple is returning!! Those of you who are missing the old maps they will return in June I believe and then another new Hero Class will be available-- the Thief Hero -- the Phantom!!

My SO plays this game and eventually talked me into trying it. It's very simple and very grindy, but it does have a certain charm. My time was cut short (about level ~18) since I was blocked from playing on the server I started with when they decided to enforce an IP/location check, and there was no use playing on my own somewhere else so I gave up.

I don't think I could have gotten to far in it anyway, by the time you get to level 50 or so you're talking hours and hours of grinding for just one level, and I've heard that by level 100 it takes weeks per level.

Your son? Yes, it takes a lot of patience and time in leveling and it requires patience. I created a magician and am currently at level twenty three which I just gained yesterday. It took three days to gain it especially since a lot of my buddies are at twice my level, they took me to more difficult areas where I probably died about five times and how that works is, if you die you lose five percent of the experience it takes to gain your next level which is really harsh. It's really hard to stay alive sometimes when you are panicking trying to find an item to give you more life and you can't access your items quick enough and before you know it, you're dead. As far as the IP check goes, I'm not sure if that will work for me once I have to move. That would suck that you would lose a character just because you had to move and don't have the same IP address. Some of the people are really cocky, but for the most part I have had a lot of nice people give me items except for one kid who is thirteen and I'm more than twice his age keeps asking me how much Meso I have which is the maple story currency I'm sure you know about. It's really annoying, I lie to him so that way he doesn't try to rob me of all my Meso, he pouts if I don't buy his overpriced items. He has given me a few but I'd say for sure he's definitely come out on top.

Yah I started playing Maplestory a few years ago. then quit. Then started up again this summer.
I leveled to 52 in about a week :p
I kind of stopped playing again because there are always technical problems occurring every time I
try to play. Especially when there are new patches. The patches never work for me, it always says something
about no connection to the server, then i have to download the patch manually or something. But I got sick of trying to fix the problems.
The game is fun when you have nothing else to do, but it's mostly grindage. I hated the quests but I end up doing them anyways. It's true, I guess that by lvl 50 it takes a while to level up.
People who pq all the time level up faster. But that's only if you pq non stop -.-'' Which can get pretty annoying.
I think I'll play again next summer though XD

So tell me something, how do you upgrade your weapons and armour? That is one thing I heard that you have to get scrolls to do, so where exactly do you get them to upgrade your weapons? I'm at level twenty-four, it really sucks because I kept dying and when I would get up to a certain amount I would fight really tough monsters to get more experience and then after awhile I would get careless and fight some really tougher monsters and would die and loose about ten percent (I think at least) of the experience it would take to gain the next level, and I would have almost eleven percent and it would pretty much take me back down to zero. It would be very frustrating and once it has happened twice, I usually quit because I want to punch my computer so I stop so I don't do anything that rash. It requires a lot of leveling up.


Another issue is I can't find the snail controller named Mano that is supposed to be a boss fight in the game for one of the quest that some gypsy fortune teller named Cassandra in the towns asks you to do and I have no way of finding it. I also bought ten thousand nexxus points or currency and bought a couple of haircut coupons and haven't been able to use them for whatever reason and it really pisses me off, especially that I spent ten dollars so I could get a frigging hair cut, now tell me that is stupid lol.

You can either buy the scrolls from npcs that are scattered randomly near monsters, but that requires alot of travel. Or you can buy scrolls from other players in the Free market, but those are pretty pricey. I usually just find scrolls from the monsters i kill. I found alot during the 2x drop event. I level up mostly by doing quests, they can be annoying but you can get rewards and such. Grinding takes forever, but that's basically what quests ask you to do, so i might as well just do the quests and get the rewards they give me, plus the exp you get when you turn in the quest.
Mano, the rainbow colored shell snail is near lith harbor, if you check your map i think he is in Thicket by the Beach 3.......3-4 screens right of Lith Harbor. He might or might not be there. You can change channels until he spawns there. He is usually up the ladder. He isn't hard to miss. He is huge XD
Yah I don't spend real money on nx cash. It's a waste. I got lucky because nexon had a roll back and gave us free nx cash only 5k though. But with it, i got a random hair change coupon, and i got the hair I wanted. So it was all good :3

Thanks for telling me that, I think I will log on and go find Mano and yes, I wasted ten dollars especially in my financial mess, I don't know why I did... impulse buy I guess. I have been doing quests, but I stay on longer because the longer you stay logged in the more experience you gain. I need to find where I can get my hair cut, I have a royal hair cut and a kerners city hair cut card. Well can you also tell me how I can create my own shop because I keep finding rare items and because I don't know how to sell them in created shop. I have one item called the guardian katara which I have seen being sold in stores for close to twenty thousand mesos! I sell it back for about four thousand mesos, but I guess since everyone else is grinding just as much as I am they are finding the same items too so I guess not many users would be interested in what I would have to sell.

Yeah Nexon wants you to spend your real life money on them . -.-'' They are such freaks. I don't know where you use the royal hair cut coupon...maybe henesys? But i don't really know. xD I honestly don't know how to create a shop either. You can just go in the free market and do what the other people do, which is say "selling (item) for $k @@@@@@@@@@@@@@"
and then maybe someone would respond. :p Or if you're lucky you can just go to kerning or whatever and sell to someone there that would use it for their class. *shrugs*

Significant Other

I, too, was overwhelmed by all the stuff going on. So many item drops, super rare scrolls, upgrade materials, NPCs, messages flashing across the screen etc. I had to keep turning to my SO and saying 'is this good?', 'should I be keeping these?'

I was playing as a thief and was nearing the first specialisation, but I was playing on the NA servers from outside NA and then they decided to start clamping down on it so I could no longer log in.

I finally broke down and bought a coupon but I doubt I will spend another ten dollars on them. I just wanted the hair cut. Kind of a waste of money really. I finally was able to find Mano, I paid some noob well a mule of a long term player about one thousand two hundred and fifty gold along with a scroll of return in order to get her to show me where Mano was, it was a pain in the ass to find him because we had to keep changing channels and finally after about six or seven changes we found him lol. It wasn't worth it. He was really easy to defeat and I didn't get a whole lot of experience for defeating him.

@Darke ~ Significant other, my significant other hates this game and went slept on the couch because of the repetitive music lol. I'm almost at level twenty-five, and I keep dying and keep losing too much experience and I get so mad that I have to quit in order from screaming from the top of my lungs and punching my computer. I am in Kerning City and went to that maze there where you have to get through this area that is just ludicrously difficult and I swear it had me saying goddamned this... it reminded me of a Nintendo game that I used to play that I always kept losing and no matter what I did I could not get past that level... so I cussed and broke Nintendo controllers, I have much better control but I still get mad and have to walk away sometimes.

You know, if you didn't like your hair you could just wear a hat. Most of the hats cover your entire hair/head area.
But whatever floats your boat i guess? Yep. Mano is a low lvl boss :p
Yah That wasn't worth it. There are nicer people out there (few) who could have showed you where he was for free.~
What server do you play on?

Well, I wanted an avatar that had long hair, call me a pre-madonna lol. Fighting Mano was kind of fun I have to admit, I play on Scandia server. Well I was desperate because I really wanted to motivate a user to help me find it and by offering Meso I got a user to quickly jump on the offer. Now I know sometimes you have to change channels in order to find certain bosses which I don't understand why they do that, it's kind of a pain in the ass to have to constantly go to one location and switch through twenty damn channels, I mean what's the point? They have all of those servers, I think four or five channels for each one would be quit enough really. I guess an event must be coming up so they have a bunch since they must have a really high fan base I'm guessing.

Yah It's fun when you can easily kill something and just be all like "Take that! haha I'm too strong for you FOO!"
xD ( well ...i do that...) People would do alot of things for some mesos...It's kinda scary...Well I was guessing that the bosses aren't on certain channels because someone probably killed it, and then you have to wait for another to spawn...but then it might just be the fact that there isn't one and you just have to wait forever. *shrugs* Lots of channels because sometimes people just want a training ground all to themselves, and they get all pissy when you are there with them xD lol.
Yeah events always come up during the summer, it's probably a "summer-ending-event" or whatever.

I was on late last night training, I finally was able to break the ceiling of level twenty four and reach level twenty five then level twenty six!! I have this kid that is always trying to make meso off me and it gets right down annoying. He is free with insults as thirteen year old and doesn't realize how he comes across sometimes. Like for instance he wanted me to come train with him and I went to the wrong place by accident and he called me a dumbass. It kind of pissed me off and I just said forget it, I'm done with you and I left him alone. He got puzzled not understanding why I was upset with him, but I just told myself this thirteen year old kid probably doesn't get much attention at home as much as he is on Maple Story. For someone that young he spends a lot of time on the computer. He should be outside getting some exercise.

I have had people call me party noob or just noob, and I told on user to get off my nuts. There are quite a few people on there who are quite rude. Then some people want you to train with them when they are high level and want to take you to extremely difficult places and it is really annoying because you can barely hit anything or take much damage without dying.

Hah I loved those days. Where I leveled like 5 times in a row without logging off :D
What a jerky kid. There are alot of those kinds of players out there. There are very few nice people on Maple (in my opinion)
But if you join a nice guild, you will be helped by them. And they will be so awesome. But that's only if you join the right guild. My guild was super nice...but they rarely went on to play anymore. And that kinda made me also stop playing....
I don't usually ask for help in the game. People ask me...but only to heal them. ...like i really want to follow them around and heal them. >.<'' (i would only do that for my friends of course) But yeah... hmm I might play again..If I can get it to start working for me, that is.

It seems like a lot of people on Maple Story aren't very friendly, yea, and I feel like I just wasted ten dollars. I have ran into a few nice people but usually you have to do something for them in return. Oh well that is fair enough for me. I'm trying to decide what job advancement I want to make. I'm at level twenty seven now so I'm getting quite close to that point. I'm almost at level twenty eight. Maybe I could meet up with you on there if you like. I'm still leveling up for the time being so I may not be a lot of help right now, but I'm clawing my way to the top in a sense lol.

Yeah I know what you mean :o The nice people don't really play maple anymore. (probably because they got tired of the mean people xD) Ten dollars....It's alright I guess....As long as you get what you want for it ? :p
Well I'm a cleric. Most people are clerics. I enjoy them, but idk if you will... Ice/lightning is pretty strong :D

I play on a private server for Maple Story since Global is just... ugh. I like the cutesy characters and extremely laid-back gameplay, and the animations for attacks have gotten better in the last few patches, but I can not sit through GMS and go through all the 12 year olds, money grubbing, and general bleck-ness.

I think I would chose ice and lightning. I know someone who does fire and poison and has someone who is a cleric. I kind of wish our avatars on here were the avatars they used on maple story and were animated in such, because I think that would just be the shit. My name on there is Jasterion I'm on Scandia.

Well I tired to get it to start working, but the latest patch isn't running. I tried manual patching, but that didn't work either.
I guess I won't be able to play T_T but eventually....MAYBE ...i will find a way :3

I'm sure that they will fix it, have you tried contacting an adminstrator on Maple Story? I'm definitely going to chose Ice and lightning. I haven't logged on in a week or so just because I kind of felt like I needed a break from it really. I gained level twenty-eight so I'm two level off from the magical level of thirty where I can finally so finally do my job advancement which makes me really happy-- I think I may log on later and play for alittle bit lol.

I have been leveling up in sleepy hollow cave killing zombie mushrooms and horny mushrooms. I have amassed a wealth on there so far of over one hundred fifty thousand gold mesos on there. I looked around in the free market and there are alot of items like on gaia that are going for a billion meso gold. That is just ridiculous!! I don't know what makes people want to charge or nevermind that actually pay that ludicrously high amount of meso gold!! I just don't fathom it. I guess some people are just in it for the business aspect about it as on here I like to save my menewshan gold that I am making -- not because it is a status symbol or anything. I have always liked having a high amount of gold on my person or in this case avatar.

Hm I don't think they can do anything about it. Because ALOT of people have the patch problems all the time.~
Trust me. All the time. Or at least, everytime a new patch is out. I leveled to 52 in 2 weeks. o-o'' but i bet it was only because of the 2x exp event. Maybe. -sigh- the 3rd job advance is at lvl 70 T_T that is going to take me foreverz with out the 2x exp.

That is pretty decent amount of mesos, congrats. Yes, some of the things they sell aren't really worth a billion mesos. but some....are kinda? Because of the rareness of the items perhaps. it must of taken the person hours/days/months to get?
I'm still working on gaining moneyz on here though. But i'm in no rush.

Sleepy wood is a good place to go level up and get money but the whole thing that pisses me off is that when I have been logged on more than an hour and a half, it kicks me off the server and I have to re log in which casuses me to lose my bonus experience that I gain for being on so long. It's really upsetting you know? I need to log on since I really have not been motivated to do so, so i think I will continue and do it now. I have class in the morning so I don't want to spend too much time for being up so late which I am right now lol.

I tried to go deep into sleepy wood, where all those dinos are and stuff, but when I reached some point...I died.. but i forgot which monsters killed me. They were slow, but one hit from them and you DIE!
Yeah, sleepy wood...It was easy for me to kill there because I just had to jump in a pile of zombie mushrooms and use heal, and i would be killing alot at once. ^_^'' The longest I've been on was like 8 or 9 hours. Yeah log on, when you know you can play for a good amount of time, because it takes time to gather up leveling exp.

I was on for a couple of hours today, and I killed over a hundred crows so I could get one hudnred crow feathers which are blue for some reason hmmmm.... I hate going to sleepy wood, because the taxi doesn't take you there, you have to pay the vip taxi ten thousand Meso.. I'm getting up there in my meso gold, now I'm worth over two hundred thousand meso!! That little brat hasn't been able to find me to take me to ridiculously hard monsters for my level and get me killed causing me to lose ten percent of all the experience that I worked so hard to frigging gain. I'm about forty-five percent at getting to level twenty-nine. I haven't been playing much lately for some reason but anyways. I have been on here trying to make gold as well. Since they lowered the gold you can earn from the game caps, I don't stay on as long as I used to, but I still love to post.
