Light became a Shinigami

For Example Ryuk said he would not go to heaven or hell. so could he have become a shinigami? Because in “Death Note Director’s Cut: Complete Ending Edition (Special)” -------------A special 3 hour episode of Death Note, mainly a compilation of the confrontations between Light & L, re-edited from Ryuk’s perspective with new dialogue and soundtrack along with additional animation that could not be included in the original series.

It is shown here when Ryuk called "that Shinigami" Light.

Evidence: ( I gathered Preliminary Data)

the coat he wears looks very similar to the one Light was wearing when he died.

He walks up stairs to meet Ryuk, which could be seen as a subtle reference to Light's death.

The way he tosses the apple to Ryuk, as Light did when alive.

A red tie (which looks like Light's) is wrapped around the Shinigami's head.

The Shinigami walks into a bright flash of light at the top of the stairs.

The fact that he inexplicably knows Ryuk's love for apples without asking the other Shinigami.

There for I conclude that The Unnamed Shinigami is Light.

For better understanding watch the " Death Note Directors Cut" in youtube

I believe this would be a better fit for the Manga/Anime Forum. I'll just move it along. :)

Shiki Nekozawa 09-10-2010 07:21 AM

I see what you mean & I did always question what happened to Light when he died. It makes absolute sense if he became a shinigami.

Bearzy 09-11-2010 03:47 AM

Haha, that's really cool! I always wondered...

Marguerite Blakeney 09-11-2010 05:23 AM

Daaaang, are you serious?!

I gotta go back & watch this stuff.

Ling 09-13-2010 11:53 AM

I never saw those edited and deleted scenes...in fact the manga never mentions anything like that, but that's certainly interesting.

The Roze 09-15-2010 07:13 AM

Ah that makes sense now!
Because he did say he wouldn't go to heaven or hell... and he told Light that he was a worthy Deqath God already, didn't he?

Useless 09-15-2010 03:46 PM

When I first read DeathNote I thought that Light would become a Shinigami as well. However, this may be something that the anime threw in, seeing as it never appeared in the manga. (I have not read vol 13, so if it's there, then ignore my "however")

Antagonist 09-15-2010 04:35 PM

Nope, nothing like that in volume 13.

It's probably something the anime added in, because just reading the manga, the 'people who use Death Notes do not go to heaven nor hell' thing simply meant, 'there is no heaven nor hell'. Doesn't matter if you were a Death Note user or not, all dead people go to the same place...nothingness.

PrincessBane 09-19-2010 03:18 PM

Damn Light. =/ That's okay, in my mind, he died a horrible death and paid for the evils he concieved. I hate Light, but that is pretty logical.

shadowsoffear 09-20-2010 11:43 PM

Well I read the manga, and agree with you even from the manga's point of view. I would love to see the show you describe here- plus your logic is very sound.

In the manga, it says when someone who used the death note dies they go to "nothingness," but a wierd symbol represents the word.
Ryuk once specifically said "the shinigami world is nothingness now" or something along those lines.
In death note volume thirteen, it is revealed that the symbol used for nothingness can be read "Nu". Nu just also happened to be the name of a very well known and famous shinigami.

Hmm...very interesting...that makes a lot of sense. I'll need to watch those youtube vids! It would make a lot of sense though...

shinigamikarasu 09-30-2010 07:03 PM

Hmm, that's pretty cool. I kinda like the theory of Light becoming a shinigami.

And those youtube vids are interesting. Especially the first one.

ohmykira 10-03-2010 08:05 PM

Makes sense.

xRhii 10-04-2010 03:02 AM

Hmm...I never really thought about that before but that is quite an interesting conclusion you've drawn. Not only that but your evidence is strong and it would make a lot of sense. So I shall have no choice but to agree with you.

Cat Eye 10-11-2010 12:14 AM

I hate to burst your bubble on knowing Ryuk's love for apples......from what I've heard (could be wrong) ALL Shinigami like/love apples.

Though I do support the Raito is a Shinigami theory.

Magician Girl Mirani 10-11-2010 10:06 AM

I think he did mention that at some point actually, I think it was earlier on in the series but still!

The Roze 10-12-2010 06:50 AM

It makes sense for Shinigami to love apples, though, because the apples in the shinigami world are terrible. Although Rem and Shidoh didn't really seem to love them...

Magician Girl Mirani 10-12-2010 06:47 PM

Maybe they're just better at controling the cravings than Ryuk? Either that or he's just super sensetive to the lure of apples!!!!!

Kira. 10-12-2010 09:59 PM

Interesting thread~

Angeline134 10-24-2010 05:13 AM

Nice work. I really like how you actually did some research to back it up unlike most people who just say this is what the creator meant even though they were totally off, so again I say nice work

YamiSora 10-27-2010 04:36 AM

Sora always thought that Light became a shinigami! XDD
made a cosplay of it actually but it didn't look like the picture in the first post!

Therealsuzakufan 10-31-2010 10:38 PM

Wow, I need to go back and watch this. I had the same suspicion, but I wasn't quite sure.

Q U E E N 11-09-2010 10:05 PM

Wow~~I've kind of figured this out, since he can't go to heaven or hell, obviously he would become a shinigami or something like that, right? And now i has proofs, YAY!
