Hey zeapear-who-finally-explained-the-correct-pronunciation-of-her-username. xD How're you?

zeapear 09-17-2010 11:21 AM

Whoops, did I have you confused about that too? xD

Silenia 09-17-2010 11:25 AM

Slightly, but that's mostly because English isn't my native tongue to start with. xD And because I have a basic knowledge in a lot of languages, which means you can read it in quite a few different ways. xD

zeapear 09-17-2010 11:27 AM

I see o3o
I can only speak English, German and Japanese D:

Silenia 09-17-2010 11:31 AM

I am fluent in Dutch and English, got a good knowledge of German, some knowledge of French and Spanish, albeit not that much and nowhere near fluent, know a few words Slovenijan, Norwegian, Japanese and Czech, got a fairly good passive knowledge in Latin and Ancient Greek, while I can - obviously - not speak it. They're dead languages anyway. Still, some basic sentences isn't much of a problem.
I can usually understand most Frisian, and with a bit of trouble, I can usually understand at least the basics of most Europian languages.

zeapear 09-17-2010 11:37 AM

Woah... That's a lot o_o

Silenia 09-17-2010 11:47 AM

Hardly anyone speaks Dutch, worldwide. Nearly everyone here in the Netherlands speaks at least some English, German and French. My English is fluent because I spend a lot of time on English sites. Sure, I've been taught English at school too, but to be completely honest, usually they teach stuff a few years after I learned it myself from experience. German and French... also taught at school. My German is much better than my French because I live quite close to the border with Germany, and nearly everyone in my family is fluent or nearly fluent in German.

My knowledge of Ancient Greek and Latin comes from having those as subjects at school for several years now. If you know some Latin and French, Spanish and Italian are somewhat understandable. They're quite... close.

I pick up a passive knowledge of languages quite easily, and most European languages have a similar structure. At least, those in the western part of Europe. Say, everything up to Italy and Germany and such. Languages with Russian alphabet and/or structure would probably not make much sense to me.

The only reason I know a few words in Czech and Slovenian is because I've been on holidays there. Japanese comes from anime and a friend obsessed by the Japanese language. Norwegian and Frisian are close enough to Dutch, German and English that you can usually find similarities with at least one of those languages.

Whisper Invictus 09-17-2010 02:09 PM

I'm doing fine. About to go to work and wanted to try and persuade the Goddesses a little bit.... >__>

how are you? :) sorry if i dont respond, I'm getting ready for work

Silenia 09-17-2010 02:11 PM

That's fine. I am relatively well, if a tad tired - but what can you expect if you're awake for 30 hours, hm? Slight headache, as usual... and pretty busy, but every Mene day is a busy day for me. xD

Flish 09-17-2010 04:03 PM

Mew... Kinny had a scary dream! D8 *fidgets*

Mingnon 09-17-2010 04:09 PM

What was it about? ...Should I even ask?

Flish 09-17-2010 04:23 PM

I was a shopkeeper in a kind of steampunk american place that had teleportation on all the doors leaning to government places. One day, after a deal went sour with the local mob boss, me and my adult son went to see him. I was there long enough to hear that there was a wolf-like automaton that was going to kill me for ruining the deal-- which I hadn't. As my son arrived, the mob man pressed the button and I grabbed my son, running. After a while, we were near the janitorial building, which was having the teleportation removed for some reason. A pack of wild dogs attacked the automaton, and we took that opportunity to get my wife and daughter and go inside, shoving past the person cutting the tape. We ended up in an empty room, and as people noticed the automaton, they shoved in. One old woman shoved two puppies in, and a baby cougar, or possibly a lynx, entered.

In the dream, I transfered over to being my wife and pushed the puppies away from the poor kitten, gently reassuring the kitten until I could pick the little guy up. Shortly after, we could hear its movements, and we fled down the stairs and out a door, running out of town. Nobody followed us. Finally, I got to the edge of town and realized that the town had blackness around it. I turned around and said it was time to stop running after I put the kitten in a tree. My idiot husband grabbed a giant stick. Then I forced myself to wake up. :<

Mingnon 09-17-2010 04:32 PM

That is wierd... but I'm sorry to hear that.

I had a dream where I was running away from someone who was after me (I don't remember who it was now), but then a cop started coming after me. I was running away to a mall where I could get some help or at least be safe.

Flish 09-17-2010 04:40 PM

That's weird... what's really weird is that I've had scary dreams a lot recently... usually my dreams are fun, intense, and interesting... D8 They've lost the fun factor...

Mingnon 09-17-2010 04:50 PM

That sucks... maybe you should tell your dreams that. ._.

Flish 09-17-2010 04:56 PM

I tries. D8

Silenia 09-17-2010 05:13 PM

You know what sometimes helps? Telling yourself, before you go to sleep "I shall not dream of ..." repeatedly. Half of the time, you end up dreaming of exactly that. xD

FaceMeetsPalm 09-17-2010 05:53 PM

XD Kinny shall tell himself to dream of HOT PORN.

Silenia 09-17-2010 05:55 PM

Nooo, you tell yourself NOT to dream of it.

...after all, knowing you, your intention is that you do end up dreaming of it, right? xD

Jezriel 09-17-2010 06:01 PM

Like telling someone, whatever you do - don't think of a pink elephant. If you tell someone NOT to think of something, it's the first thing that pops in their head.

I like to go to bed telling myself a story, just imagining myself in the middle of an adventure or something. I have a light case of insomnia most nights, so it's also a great way to distract myself from the fact that I'm not asleep yet. Then a good portion of the time I dream something close to what I was daydreaming about.

Can it be called a 'daydream' if you're doing it at night? I mean, if you day 'nightdream' people think dream-dreams. XD

FaceMeetsPalm 09-17-2010 06:10 PM

*giggles* Kinny used to be able to pick up the next night from the dream of the previous. XD He had him epic quests.
