The Lord of the Rings film trilogy
I have to say that Lord of the Rings, despite its departures from the books in some ways, is one of my favorite fantasy epics of all time. The storytelling was amazing, the special effects were unsurpassed for its time and the messages inherent in each movie when they were released were poignant. All in all, a remarkable set of films, and in the words of the great Sir Christopher Lee, "What you have achieved... is sheer magic. All of you, and I think that is the operative word. ALL of you."
What are your thoughts on these movies? |
I loved them. It's funny, I live in New Zealand so occasionally I'll be watching them and go. I KNOW THAT PLACE!!!
|
I would have loved to see a lot of the chapters that were cut out in the movies, be put back in. I hope they don't plan on leaving any chapters out of the Hobbit movie whenever that comes to fruition. I have read the books and had many a ideas about what I see in my mind, and the movie really does a great job, but I think since they went through all of that trouble to get the sets up they should have just done the movie as it was in the book-- maybe not dialogue for dialogue but at least honored each scene.

Kole, I definitely understand where you are coming from, and agree to some extent. Though I do realize that they were as faithful to the books as they possibly could have been, as Peter Jackson is himself, an immense fan of the books. And it does show. But also, for the sake of budget they were given, they had no choice but to leave some scenes out. Though with the extended editions, a few select scenes that were unfortunately left out were included and it did help to expand and explain the story further, which I enjoyed.

I know! The scouring of the shire was great! But ohwell, they can't do everything I guess.

The scouring of the shire to me was the hobbits reaffirming their abilities that lied dormant that they used in ultimaltely saving the free peoples of middle earth. |
Hmm Animation.. I know they have the really old animated version but in that would be really different in graphic animation.

Oh yeah! The hobbit was awesome! I loved all the names that Bilbo used on the dragon.
Oh and by the way... "THE EAGLES ARE COMING!" |

The dragon asks bilbo his name... and bilbo says that he's "Barrel rider, something something something.." I can't remember them all at the moment, but it was awesome.

Yay! I wasn't hallucinating. It was definitely cool. But back on topic, (snigger) Do you know when the movie is due to be released?
|
I'm sorry that this isn't very relevant, but to answer carzeebear's question; last term my class read The Hobbit for English, and according to my English teacher filming for the movie was canceled (not sure if they'll pick it up later) due to budget issues. D: |
Thanks :) but :( Also I just watched the fellowship last night and XD!
