Drag Me to Hell!
This movie was really creepy in my opinion, almost karmatic in some ways. A young woman who came from a low background finally gets her break in a bank as a lender and has the oportunity to gain a managerial position as money lender, but her opportunity to get their quicker is ill timed as an old gypsy woman who is behind on her house mortgage is having financial hardships begs and asks for another extension but is denied as the young ambitious woman takes a hint from her boss and denies it. The gypsy woman is infuriated and attacks the woman and places a Lamia Demonic curse that tortures its victim for three days then comes to claim the owner of the object and drag them to burn in hell for eternity. A victim forty years previously succumbs to the Lamia Curse for stealing a silver chain from a gypsy. I think the movie is full of scary scenes, as it really makes you wonder just how real some of this stuff really is and how safe are we from evil curses. The movie's ending is definitely interesting, the movie is worth watching and will definitely keep you on the edge of your seat. Watch it!!

Sadly Locke, I am going to have to honorably disagree with you. For any who know, the same Director of Drag me to Hell also created the old favorites of Evil Dead I, II, and Army of Darkness, three movies that not only put Bruce Campbell on the map to stardom, but all instantly got praise from the underground movie critics everywhere. They were loved B-movies that were so bad they were funny. And they meant to be this way. On the other hand Drag Me to Hell was made. This movie took the feel of Army of Darkness and Evil dead (right down to one of the possession scenes) and made it almost a mockery. I sadly found little charm in the movie, and felt it was attempting to take itself way to seriously for a B-rated remake. As soon as the movie begins you instantly know what is going to happen to the main character, and pretty much even how she is going to end up in her situation at the end. They don't bother to cover this up. The acting by Christine Brown, heroin, is not actually that terrible, but she takes her role too seriously for this kind of film. Her boyfriend, played by Justine Long, wasn't awful either oddly enough (when I usually find him terribly annoying). Even this witch, played by Lorna Raver, was excellent. The effects are dull, and the scared are jump at best. I'm equally as startled when a bird slams into my window. If you noticed I use the word "startled", not "frightened". It's a rather slow pace, and twenty minutes in I guarantee you will know what is going to happen to our female lead and why. This is a B-movie, and it shows, but not well. Please, if you are going to watch it, watch it online. If you HAVE to rent it, don't spend more than a $1. Get your moneys worth and leave it at best. |

As soon as I saw the previews for Drag me to Hell, I had to see it! I was obsessed with it. Unfortunately due to circumstances I only got to see it this year. And I was highly disappointed.
Like Saeton, I was excited about the director being the one that did Army of Darkness. But the way the movie progressed I was more and more disappointed. The stupid mistakes, the lack of power from the Hispanic woman. The idiotic positions the lead female ends up in. The anti-climatic ending. *sigh* I was quite unamused. |

Cliff note to anyone who cares, I've heard about another Evil Dead movie. oo Not sure how they would work that with Bruce Campbell being as... er.... older and unfit as he is. Oo Course he's still a huge icon. xD |

I was reading it on both spill.com and theescapist. Nothing of news as of yet, only that they had recieved a screenwriter. Quote:

You know what would have been a much better way for it to have ended would have been her boyfriend and her actually researching the curse and the spanish medium actually to have been able to help them through a huge confrontation with the Lamia and then had it end with some sort of restitution to the gypsy lady. |
I watched it a long time ago when a friend rented some horror movies for us to watch.
I don't really remember it that well, but for some reason we found the one scene with the talking, possessed goat hilarious at the time. xD |

Drag Me To Hell wasn't so bad in my opinion, but far from being in my top favourites. xD I couldn't help but laugh hysterically at the goat guy dancing on the table, and after that I just couldn't take it seriously. Also what happened with the kitten upset me terribly. :'C

I saw Drag Me To Hell when I was staying the night at a friend's house and I personally didn't like it much at all. The scenes which should have been frightening just looked fake and too far fetched. It looked like it was intended to be for 3D use because of the way things popped, but we tried it with 3D specs and it didn't work.
I liked the concept of the film and the idea behind it was something that really interested me, but I just felt that it was very poorly done. |
I thought it was great. You just have to know when you're watching it that it's not trying to take itself too seriously.
|
I think the problem with it was it WAS trying to take itself seriously, which is upsetting especially for the B-rated style that it should have known it was. /sigh |
I know; I read your earlier post, and I disagree.

I have to say, I was actually rather disappointed in Drag Me to Hell. I love B-Movie Horror, but this one was just plain...gross. Honestly, by the third time the lead character was getting her mouth puked in I wanted to jump up and scream "JUST CLOSE YOUR MOUTH! GODDAMMIT!". I muttered it instead, but the capslock was still implied.
I thought DMtH could have been better. :/ |

I think the ending in this movie could have been so much better had they just spent a bit more time on the script and making it so cliche. Amatuers in some regards.

This movie is hilarious, though nicely filmed.
The fact that the young woman tries to ignore the fact only makes it more hilarious. |
