Hmm. I do like the work of the women surrealists I have seen. It has a more feminine touch (naturally), which makes it more accessible, in my mind. Also, M.C. Escher.

Hello, culture thread. I thought I would stop by and see what's going on in here.

Cardinal Biggles 10-09-2010 03:36 AM

Good stuff is brewing, Xeno!

I must ask, even if a titch rude... Are you truly xenophobic? I must say, I tend towards the philic side...

Xenophobia 10-09-2010 03:37 AM

No, I am not actually Xenophobic. I made this username before I knew the meaning of the name, and now I go by "Xeno" which can mean "strange." I'd prefer to think of myself as strange. Also, I love foreign cultures and countries, so I suppose my username is ironic.

Cardinal Biggles 10-09-2010 03:41 AM

Irony! Capital.

I am an aficionado of things strange and foreign myself, so you are quite welcome here ^.^
My familiarity with the word really has more basis in the colourful writings of Xenophon.

Addendum to Cherry's question: Also Magritte! How could I forget him!

Cherry Who? 10-09-2010 05:13 AM

Hi, Xeno!

Biggles - Not a fan of men's surrealist paintings?

Cardinal Biggles 10-09-2010 05:21 AM

well, like I said, Magritte. And Dali is fun in at least his conceptions. But I do seem to prefer the woman's work of that movement.

Cherry Who? 10-09-2010 10:12 PM

I like Dali's work, but I'm a... novice art viewer?
I just tend to like anything surreal. Painting, photography, humor....

Cardinal Biggles 10-10-2010 01:31 AM

Haha, I did think of mentioning the humour angle earlier. But you already know were I stand on that. =3

Cherry Who? 10-10-2010 04:30 AM

Considering your love of Boosh, I'd say you're a fan!

Cardinal Biggles 10-10-2010 06:19 AM

You catch on quick, grasshopper.

Cherry Who? 10-10-2010 07:43 AM

*cough* We're really terrible at having refined discussions, aren't we? I blame myself, partly. I only intended to watch on as other, more scholarly people discussed the finer things, so that I might learn. I wasn't prepared to have to actively participate in order to keep this alive. I mean, honestly, why wouldn't an online message board dedicated to dressing up little dolls be teeming with the greatest minds of our time? Where are the Ph.Ds?!

Cardinal Biggles 10-10-2010 07:04 PM

Well, I certainly appreciate the effort. One can't be 'on' all the time, fancy topic wise. I don't know, perhaps the debate forum would yield a few interested parties. They seem keen on long, scholarly posting opportunities.

Cherry Who? 10-10-2010 09:16 PM

Mm... not really... I know why you'd think that, but... Not really.

Cardinal Biggles 10-11-2010 12:49 AM

Hm. The ones that I've run into seem to. Well, the ones worthy of remembering anyway.

Cherry Who? 10-11-2010 12:54 AM

Well... I suppose you're right... buuuut... it's not a forum we want to emulate.

Cardinal Biggles 10-11-2010 01:28 AM

Ah, now that we can agree upon.
Maybe it's just the whole internet thing. It shortens attention spans and encourages memes. And Pron.

Cherry Who? 10-11-2010 04:56 AM

"I CAN HAZ PR0N???" :/
Maybe sig links would be good for advertising. I could help you with the front page some if you'd like.

I quite like the front page though. Sig links is an idea though.

Cherry Who? 10-11-2010 05:04 AM

I was just gonna change the order of the stuff in the first post to give it a tidier appearance.

Cardinal Biggles 10-11-2010 05:15 AM

I see. What do you recommend?

http://i587.photobucket.com/albums/s...orey-thumb.jpg Potential Gorey sig link pic.

I may make another.

Cherry Who? 10-11-2010 05:47 AM

Looks good!

Cardinal Biggles 10-11-2010 05:48 AM

I thought so. Gorey comes through once again!

Cherry Who? 10-11-2010 06:03 AM

Of course! I really like his drawings.

Cardinal Biggles 10-11-2010 06:19 AM

Yeah, I like his work. Plus it was in keeping with the whole Monocromatic illustration thing we've got going on.

Have you ever seen:
