Ahh, yes, I've seen some of those. They're good.

Cardinal Biggles 10-11-2010 09:39 PM

I love that it's mostly history and literature she tackles.
Speaking of: Hark, a vagrant: 44
Cos, you know.

Cherry Who? 10-11-2010 09:50 PM

Ha, that's good.
Speaking of Orwell, I'm pretty pissed that the DVD of the 1984 version of 1984 seems to be out of print... I can buy it, but for, like, $30. :/
I got to watch it on Netflix, though, and it was really good. I'd like to own it, but... man.

Cardinal Biggles 10-11-2010 09:53 PM

No way to legally download it?

Cherry Who? 10-11-2010 10:09 PM

Maybe, but I just really dislike paying for digital copies of things. If I'm going to pay money, I'd like to have it in a physical form that won't be lost if my computer breaks, and that I can take to other people's houses or other players to enjoy.

Cardinal Biggles 10-11-2010 10:13 PM

Agreed! I'm a very tactile person. I prefer the actual article too. Being the bibliophile that I am, people have offered to buy me digital readers in the past, but I much prefer to have something I leaf through and smell the ink on. And the same is true of Dvds. I endeavored to get myself a region free DVD player, so that I could watch Boosh and other overseas shows on it, rather than download them.

Cherry Who? 10-11-2010 10:14 PM

Aren't there Boosh DVDs for our region?

Cardinal Biggles 10-11-2010 10:17 PM

Well, now there are. But when I bought them, they were a few months off. I'm thinking about getting the complete collection in region 1 so I could take it with me 'round the states and be able to watch it. Plus it has an additional disc of extras.

Cherry Who? 10-13-2010 05:12 AM

Oh, phew. I had priced the DVDs and was hoping to nab a few for Christmas. Boosh really has excellent replay value. That's a video game term, but I'm going to go ahead and apply it here. It doesn't really matter if you've seen an episode five times already, it's still funny.
Extreme sports calendar gets me every time...

Cardinal Biggles 10-13-2010 06:27 AM

Oh good! They are so worth it. I was actually thinking about it today, in terms of finances, and I thought to myself "you know, the radio show is pretty cheap. Cherry could get a good product for her money with that."

Cherry Who? 10-14-2010 12:03 AM

Yeah, I'll need to get all such things eventually. But first I must get a job, I'm pretty much out of spending money.

Cardinal Biggles 10-14-2010 02:43 AM

Yeah. Might as well get rollin' in the job market now, get us in the swing of things...

Cherry Who? 10-14-2010 04:39 AM

Us? How many times have I told you, Biggles! I like you, but I will not marry and support you! I told you that after I bought you that BMW that was it! And, okay, I did go on to buy you that fancy jewelry set and signed mold of Noel Fielding's leg, but really! No more! :gonk:

Cardinal Biggles 10-14-2010 07:13 AM

But... I need another anklet so the mold and I can be twinsies! It's rather imperative, otherwise I just look like a gaudy nutter carryng around a hunk of plaster all day. You dream crusher.

Nah, I'm just checking out the classifieds and such. And got myself a food handler's licence if I end up in a restaurant... and such.

Cherry Who? 10-14-2010 07:04 PM

FINE, I'll get you another leg mold, but if you start asking for molds of something vulgar, that is where I draw the line. :talk2hand:

Good luck! I'm beginning to think I'm going to have to settle for a job in fast food if I ever want to be hired. The job market here is the worst. Not even my mom can find a job.

Cardinal Biggles 10-14-2010 09:45 PM

If I ever make such a request, I'm asking you now to shoot me right through the frontal lobe. I don't ever want to degenerate/deteriorate to that level of... that.

Cherry Who? 10-15-2010 04:36 AM

 Noted.
MAN, NOW I'M GOING TO HAVE TO COME UP WITH AN ENTIRELY NEW CHRISTMAS GIFT FOR YOU!

Cardinal Biggles 10-17-2010 01:46 AM

Baring a ticket to L-town, there's always this:

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...500_AA300_.jpg
how much do I want that

Cherry Who? 10-17-2010 04:01 AM

But how could I buy that for you when I now have to buy one for myself?

Cardinal Biggles 10-17-2010 04:50 AM

Buy one get one free? It's a better solution than re-gifting.

Cherry Who? 10-17-2010 05:13 AM

But what if I want to keep BOTH for myself so I can make Holmes be startled by his twin! Think of all the dramatic fights I can enact between them when they've only got a little cocaine left!

Cardinal Biggles 10-17-2010 05:33 AM

That made me laugh. Why does Holmes related humour make me laugh? I have unresolved issues I think.

Here is another exchange I had that still makes me giggle:

Quote:

Kevin: I've sent for Dick Tracy. He's coming up the elevator now
Biggles: Oooh. On the detective front, I wish you could have sent for Sherlock Holmes <3
Kevin: Ok. -something of a long pause- I think the elevator is stuck
Steeve: Hah. Deduce yourself out of that, Holmes.

Cherry Who? 10-17-2010 06:20 AM

On a completely unrelated note, you're an anglophile, you surely MUST love Doctor Who, right?

Cardinal Biggles 10-17-2010 06:24 AM

The new ones are quite well done. I'll watch them if I catch them, and I can follow what has been happening with my whole sporadic approach to it. The older ones... well, what lolz.

Cherry Who? 10-17-2010 06:46 AM

I've been watching them on BBCA, which has been playing them a bunch. But we're losing our satellite soon, so I found a website that has every single episode uploaded. Completely illegally, of course, but the player works really well, and loads fast even on my computer (which is slower than a riding mower)
I've been a bit addicted, honestly.

Just the newer stuff, mind. I haven't watched the older stuff. My mom thinks I should, but uh, those weren't exactly good years for science fiction... (I mean in retrospect, not at the time)
