Another blow to the Bill Of Rights.

I was reading this article on MSN about this cartoonist being threatened by people of the Islamic Faith because she wanted a draw Muhhamed Day. Sounds like another double standard that we are supposed to allow the faith to build anywhere it wants, persecut women, imprison our people, burn the flag, kill our citizens, and make bogus charities. But when we step on your religon you act like it's a sin against humanity and the offender must be threatened. Maybe we should start singling out the people who protest against the U.S. and burn flags in the streets by marking thier families. Please defend your honor and don't give me any worn out lines about it's just the way. That is pathetic and cowardice. In other words if you can dish it out you better learn to take it.

It depends which section of Islam you are approaching. Some sects believe that any sort of visual depictions of Muhammed should be banned outright while others take a more relaxed view, as long as the depiction is respectable then that is okay. A bit like Christianity, take the piss out of Jesus some Christians are going to get upset. Blasphemy is old news and it does not lead to persecution, imprisonment blah blah- APOCALYPTIC DOOM!!! KAY?!?! :P
Take a chill pill and have a hug
The world is not going to rat shit :)

Thank you Una.

I think that everyone around the world needs to learn to make fun of themselves and their religion every now and then. My whole thing is "why so serious?". I mean, really. I make fun of my belief system all the time and I am really dead set on what I believe. I've had Christians get pissed because I made a joke about "God" but then I turned around and made a joke about atheist and they thought the joke about the atheist was funny. I think it's pathetic when people take anything too seriously, not just religion.

Your right a good laugh is what we need.

How is that a blow to the Bill of Rights? Provided she was American (I have no idea whether or not she was, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt), freedom of speech simply means that you can say whatever you want short of a few things. Yeah, there are a few people who have made threats, but for the most part, they're simply voicing their opposition to it. And guess what? THAT'S FREEDOM OF SPEECH, TOO. No one, not a single soul, is guaranteed the right to do and say what they wish free of criticism.

As for the rest of your post, I have no idea what you're talking about, but I'll try to make sense of it bit by bit.

No, we allow individual citizens to build wherever they want, so long as it's legal. If there can be a Shinto shrine at Pearl Harbour and a Christian church across the street from the site of the Oklahoma City bombing, denying Muslims the right to build a community center in the same city as Ground Zero is pure and utter bigotry. Do not be dishonest and try to claim otherwise.

persecut women
Islam doesn't persecute women any more than any other Abrahamic faith.

Alright, you completely lost me here. Are you confusing terrorist groups and foreign countries with a religion? That's the only thing I can think of.

I'm unsure of which charity you're referring to, but no one has a "right" to scam people out of money in that way. It's illegal. And furthermore, it has not a damned thing to do with Islam. If anything, it goes against its teachings.

What "you" are you referring to? Stop being such a bigot, seriously. And before you say that you're not, think of what it would sound like is you replaced "Muslims" with, say, blacks or gays and went on this same rant. You're dehumanizing a group of people, turning them into some weird archetype because you need an outlet for your hatred and if it weren't Muslims it would be women or poor people or whatever. And I am so, so fucking sick of people talking about the "Draw Muhammad" day and similar things and acting like they're just doing it to be doing it. No, you're doing it to be offensive. Do not act surprised when people are offended, and do not pretend for a second that you did not know what you were doing and how it would affect people.

Sound words of advice, Star. Maybe you should follow them.

That's just such a good point, I kind of had to quote you, Philomel. It's so true.

...No one has the right to fake a charity. No matter what your religion, it's still illegal. I find it kind of funny that you're talking about Islam, but the one time I've heard of someone doing that it was a Christian. If I go by your logic, shall I say all Christians are scammers, then?

Yes, you kind of lost me there, as well....Being of the Islamic faith doesn't make you a terrorist. Care to explain, a bit?

I don't have a problem with Muslims, I have a problem with extremist who are just looking for anything to bitch about because they are a bunch of hypocrites who hide behind a religion to further their own personal agendas which is totally disgusting and what they all deserve is to be put in shackles and put in a town square for public display with a sign that says "I am an extremist son of a bitch who hates everyone" and have buckets of rotten vegetables to throw at the like the freak shows they all are.
