Do YOU bargain hunt?
I usually shop at Savers for clothing, and maybe Goodwill if I can't find anything at Savers. They're basically hand-me-down clothing stores, along with used toys, shoes, and whatever else. Savers is a little more expensive, but it usually has more variety of clothing. Goodwill has less variety, but also less expensive. I'm sure every major city has this sort of store, even if it's under a different name.
I've found tons of great clothing at these stores, at a quarter of the regular price. Some people don't like shopping there because the clothing is used, but I figure just give it a good wash and it's good to go  Today I went to Savers with my mom, and we found great deals! At Savers she found a beautiful blouse. It's white with black lace flower designs, and a black sash beneath the bust that ties in the back. She also found a gray-blue v-neck with jeweled embroidery beneath the bust. At Goodwill I found an awesome gray sweater with white embroidery on the hood and gray embroidery at the bottom. I'm not sure what her clothing costs, but my sweater was two dollars! Yes, two dollars. Normal price was four dollars, but it was on sale for 50% off. It looks brand new too! If it had been brand new, I'm sure it would have cost at least fifteen dollars. So, now that I'm done with my mini story :XD, tell me, do you bargain hunt/shop? Why or why not? Have you ever found a great deal like I did today? Keep in mind: Quote:

I sure do bargain hunt! I got two pair of really nice jeans at Goodwill today for only $12. Both are brand new! Original tags still in. One was a pair someone donated after buying at Wal-Mart (cause I know that Faded Glory is THEIR brand).
The other is a brand I never heard of but has really pretty floral embroidery on the front pocket and around the bottoms of the legs. I think I'm not gonna buy jeans at Wal-Mart anymore cause they charge $18-$25 for one lousy pair. |

We went on a jeans shopping spree once, walked out with $50 worth of jeans, and got at least eight pairs. Quick wash, and they're ready to wear! |
Absolutely. I shop at walmart for most of my clothes, Goodwill as well. Just because something is cheaper doesn't mean its not comfortable.

I try to...but unfortunatly where I tend to go, there arent bargains in the areas Im looking. Like if Im buying a new game, there might be a bargain on PS3, but I dont own one of those. xD

I absolutely bargain hunt! I have no job also I lost weight so a ton of my clothes didn't fit me any more, and I had no money to buy new stuff ._. So I headed for ebay! I've snagged some fantastic bargains: brand new shoes for £2.50 + postage. Lots of tops from a company that I've bought from for years but only ever in the sale because they're too expensive otherwise, and I've snagged a number of their items for around £5 each including postage, instead of for around £40 each...
My biggest bargain was a linen jacket from Marks & Spenser who are a snooty store here in the UK, that jacket was probably £60 or so and I got it for 55p. So I've been getting top brand, high quality clothes for charity shop prices :) Gotta love ebay! |

Well I'm limited to places where I can pay using Paypal, as I do not touch what's in my bank account, so Amazon is out in that regard, for me.

I'ma poor college student. When I can bargain shop, I will. I like Goodwill, but my bargain hunting actually runs more towards music and books. I shop at a used bookstore a lot because I can find paperbacks from some of my favorite authors for a dollar, and the books are often in very good condition. I've even found some out of print copies of some of my favorite books too. We have a used CD store relatively near my house too, so I have been able to find music by favorite bands, new bands, and older soundtracks pretty easily.
|
I HATE paying full price for books! There's a second-hand book shop here in town and I'll only ever go there. Plus the owner is a total character, he's got one of those thank you for not smoking signs up in the shop, and he's blocked out the "not" word and sits underneath it, smoking
I'd spend ages in there just chatting, it's so nice to be able to do that in any store. |
I would bargain hunt more if I had my own car and some good female friends to shop with.

I'm not sure that shopping with friends would help with bargain hunting, as I can see people trying their best to talk you into buying something that they like more than you, or that is more than you want to spend :ninja:

I went shopping with my stepsister once, and I noticed this excellent perfume. I liked it a lot, and it was one of those "green" perfumes, you know, the save the planet whatever ones. I couldn't afford it, so my stepsister buys it just so she could have it and I couldn't. I know that because she hated the smell when I showed it to her, but ended up buying it anyway, saying "Oh my boyfriend will like it." :gonk: ihu liz. |
what a bitch : / That's an excellent reason to not shop with someone else!

My best friend and I love to browse around thrift stores for the different things that they have. Though we mostly just browse and find old neat things at great prices. I haven't bought much from a thrift store, but one day I was browsing Savers and found my favorite Disney movie for $4. It was a brand new VHS of Mulan *o*, I was ecstatic and bought it right away.
Though I usually go to Wal-Mart to buy things. When I went there to go clothes shopping, I got a bunch of great clothes at a great price *o* |

I go to dollar stores all the time...lol Bargain hunting is how I live on a daily basis. It's kind of sad really.

Being a student photographer and needing props, I am always looking for good deals. I absolutely love Home Goods clearance sections. You can find some awesome stuff there for cheap. I also go to goodwill and my city's local equivalent of the store. And garage sales too. You would be amazed at what some people want to get rid of.

Stores.
I generally prefer new clothes. However, there are times that I do look around in stores like Goodwill. I wouldn't be opposed to buying something used if it was in good condition and was clean. I have a friend who shops at Goodwill a lot, and it's fun to go with her and look around at the stuff they have. We have found some pretty funny stuff there. Also, she found a really nice chair there for really cheap, and it was in pretty good condition. I tried looking there for a shirt for my boyfriend, he needed like a plain polo shirt for going on interviews or handing in applications to find a job, but most of the ones they had there were way too big for him. It's impossible to find anything small enough for him most of the time... He barely has any clothes. I did see a Gamestop shirt there that I think would have fit him. XD Was tempted to get it but he didn't really want it, it would have been kind of funny though.

And, ya. I don't shop with anyone for that reason, too. All my friends seem to have some sort of endless supply of money. Me? I'm lucky to muster up $10 for a shirt every few months. And then they try to drag me along with them to the mall, and then just completely ignore me anyway. And when I want to go shopping with them, they're so indifferent. So..meh. I shop alone. Or with my sister. My sister's actually a pretty decent shopping partner. We have different enough tastes that we won't shop the same things, but similar enough that we can pick out things for each other. :D As for bargain shopping...more or less. I can never find anything in second-hand stores. Though, now I'm in a new location I might check out the goodwill store here. It's actually supposed to be good, and a ton of people go there. There are a few other shops on the same street I really want to try, but I just don't have the money right now. Maybe towards finals, so I can hopefully find some warm clothes before going back home where I'll freeze all winter. |
I'm wearing a cardi right now which was one of my ebay bargains :) It's 100% lambswool and was £85/$160 new, and I got it for £7  You wouldn't know it was secondhand either, good chance that the previous owner never wore it, though it smelt lovely when it arrived! Actually everything that I'm wearing is from ebay xD But what I spent on the 3 items together wouldn't have covered the price of the cheapest one if I'd bought it new.

I also forgot to mention I can crochet, so I'm working on making my own clothes.

I should- but not really.
I have stores that I like and I shop their sale racks, and try to use the coupons that they send me - I haven't been buying many clothes lately (mostly because I'm pregnant and they won't fit me for much longer and I have no idea what size I'll be when this baby is done). I absolutely do not bargan shop when it comes to my food and personal care stuff - well, I sort of do but within limits - I buy organic (especially diary - it's really important to me that diary is organic) and my face is so fickle I won't even try other brands of face wash now that I've found one that works (Juice Beauty in case you were wondering). I wish I could afford to buy organic cotton and bamboo clothes- but they are jsut too expensive for me - so I try to buy quality made stuff that's going to last a long time so I don't have to buy it again later. That being said - I do love to shop and browse the goodwill and I won't turn my nose up at a good deal I find there - it's jsut that I rarely ever make it to the goodwill since their hours suck. |
