Well the 2 big structures I made can be remade, it'll just take some time.
The sandstone palace I can make again from memory. Shadowfang Keep I'll just need a couple reference pictures. |
I might put a glowstone block somewhere in the greenhouse, I put one behind a birch outside and it created some nice atmospheric uplighting xD There's a block of burning netherack on the corner of the roof that you can't see in that image, that dumbass skeleton actually managed to set fire to himself with that before the sun came up
I avoided lights in the garden since I first built it, because I put them in there initially and animals were spawning in there at night and trampling stuff, so now I get zombies stamping on my wheat instead >_> xDD I found I had to remove another layer or 2 of soil from outside my garden, or creepers were spotting me through the glass and never going away  Now they can blow holes in the wall without doing too much damage because they're too low down. I enjoy spoiling their fun  ---------- Ark, I intend to build a lighthouse with a 3x3 block of burning netherack at the top. Not sure how successful this will be xD This is in the new area when I intend to build a holiday home xD This is a swampy area, loads of little islands, shallow water, lily pads and squidies that like swimming with you. Tons of wildlife too! The island I'm building on has a herd of pigs living on it, next one over is all cows, loads of sheep on the "mainland", also loads of mines :D I built a beacon so I could find my chosen island again, as I got hopelessly lost when I went exploring before. So I made a 15 block high column with a load of netherack on top, which inspired me to try for a more permanent structure, Hope I can manage to make it look pretty! I shall be scouring google images looking for inspiration from what other people have built :ninja: |
I have done research on the endermen! ive got a picture to prove it. *animal channel theme plays.* http://img97.imageshack.us/img97/462...1112085317.png This wild beast has a weird mouth and only comes out at night. he messes with blocks and looks super creepy. if your very lucky you might get a chance to see this creepy creatuh! Blimey! if you look away you see that he attacks you differently then all the rest of the weird slimy animals! and that thing in the backround is his long lost brother, The skeleton. this feminine creatuh attacks its prey with arrows. a very creative way to kill prey! it dies by then disappearing in dust and dropping random bones and arrows.

Jelly: I built a lighthouse on the server I play on before it went down with a 3x3x3 block of glowstone at the top xP
I had been doing some exploring and found one of the premade towns right next to some water. It was really neat too, it was a little bit of a bay with ocean one way and a river leading out of it the other. I made a light house here and a couple basic houses and called it my port town. I showed Anaxilea and she came over to it and built a pirate ship! There's captains quarters and area below the deck and everything. Super cool. |

Our (main) house has a four-level library labyrinth underneath it that gets so hard by the last level that even *I* have gotten stuck in there for about an hour. Underneath it all, there's a panic room with safes hidden behind pictures where I squirreled away loads of extra supplies before our server's admin took away our creative modes... shh! |
That enderman mouth is weird! I got my first ender pearl today. If I stare at them when I'm in my house they just can't get to me xD It's best from my floor that has all glass walls, as the doorways are 2 blocks high so the enderman's stuck outside on the ledge and I can bludgeon him to death at my leisure as he can't fit through the door
I was playing with snow golems today, they're amusing, but they seem to have stopped doing anything now =O There's beasties roaming around under the fenced and floating platform I have them on, but they're not throwing snowballs at them any more, lazy buggers! I suspect the ground is one block too far away so they can't see them. But that can soon be fixed  |
>.> baby pigs are so cute i want to hit them.
which i do. ;D |
Got my server back!
Wooo so happy! =D |
yay! that's a good thing. What'd it take to get it back?
|
I have made a utopia! http://img835.imageshack.us/img835/4...1127130229.png

That is COOL, dev! Ark and I really should post some pictures of our creations. Next project for me is a spleef arena.
Empress, we didn't really lose our server, it just needed to be updated to 1.0 and our admin was holding off on it because we use a bunch of mods. |
I haven't updated mine yet. I won't until bukkit is out so people on my server have until then to move/store everything they want to at spawn. After that the world's being trimmed so it'll reset to the new stuff. Seems more everyone has moved everything already though. Now they're just having fun demolishing structures. Always a blast. :P
|
That looks nifty, Dev! I'm not imaginative enough to be able to plan something so large. I struggle enough getting my garden/greenhouse to look decent xD
I'm currently trying different ways to get the best from my snow golems, because I find watching them pelting monsters with snowballs to be hysterical xD The beasties hide under the platform the golems are on though, just avoiding falling into the lava under there, so I need to modify things. |
Finally, I found a minecraft thread. Minecraft's my all time favorite game and I started playing it in like June?
@devcul : That's the best city I ever seen, I tried making a castle before but failed. The biggest thing I have built was a dojo. |
Warning: HUGE!
Lots of pictures of our world incoming, so I've sorted them and hidden them to make things a bit neater. I play on a server with about six other people, all friends of mine, but I tried to focus on Arkkath: and I's creations here. Our main houseLiore - the port cityThe Spleef arenaGerudo Fortress |
I'm SO impressed by you guys. All of that purely friggin' AMAZING! :squee:
I haven't been quite so adventurous or creative in Minecraft, myself. :P Player-created stuff always astounds me... Everything about your world is drool-worthy. ...Also.. What's spleef? For some reason I just don't know what that IS... |
Thanks, Facade! Spleef is a player-versus-player game where people remove blocks from the arena and try to be the last man standing.
A lot of arenas have actual lava beneath them, but I'm a little nicer - mine has shallow water that can be waded through to ladders that go to the stands. xP |
Heh thanks ^^
I'm taking a break from my multi level spleef arena and started building just a regular pvp arena. But it's not just any arena. It's modelled after the mirror chamber atop the Arbiter's Grounds from Twilight Princess. It's nearly complete too, so I'll post pics when it's done. |
I lack in imagination, sadly :( I too am always amazed by how creative other people are, I never get good ideas myself and always end up copying things that others have done. After having those, "why didn't I think of that!" moments.
I'm considering making the flat bit of land in front of my main house into a formal garden with pretty paths and hedges and stuff, justso that I can be super pissed off when a creeper blows a hole in the middle of it :ninja: Need to make me some shears first though. I'm currently building a holiday home in the swampy region I'd discovered some distance to the south of my spawn point. I lost my compass (creeper again) but I can find the place easily now so that's not a problem. I'm building a wooden "hut" on a little island there (it's loads of little islands, with rediculously tall and mis-shapen hills further to the south). I love how this area is teeming with animals, hardly any show up on my spawn island any more, but in this new place my little island has a herd of piggies living on it, the sea is full of squid, there's sheep and cows everywhere. I got followed home by 3 wolves one day, I tamed all three but they disappear so easily! Not one made it all the way back to my little island with me xD I need to pick an island to build my beacon lighthouse on, but I want to finish my cottage first. The only problem with building here is having to wade through a big expanse of water to get to the mainland for resources. But that's no big deal, typical island life I'd say, needing to go ashore to stock up on coal, etc. |
A good way to practice building large interesting things is to pick existing structures in real life or games and attempt building them. It helps to build them on a large scale, so that if you need to put in curves, it will appear as if it is curved.
It helps to be in creative mode too, that way you can fly around and place whatever bock you need where ever without having to build scaffolding. |
Yeah, while my lighthouse intentions had originally been sandstone I'm leaning towards a more traditional red and white striped one now (though that will mean building it from wool  ) and I'd like that to appear round if possible, so it will need to be pretty big. *ponders*
|
My stadium's round pokeball design followed a 3, 2, 1 pattern which allows you to make a "circle" that's 13x13, if it helps at all C: That's as small a circle as I was able to make. It's easy to go bigger, but the smaller it is, the more angular it gets.
|
13 x 13 is probably larger than pretty much all the islands in the archipelago where I'm building  But I'll manage somehow =B
|
Someone might find this handy, then.

yay! minehost released a mostly stable version so I think I'm going to go ahead and restart the server tonight. everyone's given me the go ahead. so can't wait for the new stuff. I've been looking forward to it for a long time.
