I kind of zoned out and played a game on my computer after Mike went to bed at midnight. ^^" I already sent mine and the other person's by then (my friend from high school helped) Thanks though Nonsense. ^^
Yeah, I loved my second semester off. Yeah, I missed classes and the friends I made the spring before, but I got to spend lots of time with Mike. |
No I did not fall off the face of the planet. Tonight was an eventful night.
didn't get much homework done since I spent most of it waiting for Mike to get home and tell me why the heck he was at the hospital and didn't bother telling me who was in the hospital and why until he came home. Which left me sitting there from 6pm until going on 9.30pm going through every single scenario involving every person in his immediate family. So yeah. :/ I won't go into exactly what had happened atm. We're keeping it in the family atm. |
Ser - ^^ Welcome.
Elysium - Hopefully, it's so difficult to really get to know the professor and ask questions if there's a wall of human bodies in the way x3. Sometimes it is nice to sit back on your laptop and not be bothered in classes that just aren't really that difficult. No tea? Knitting! Always thought it would be fun, never tried it. |
Hello all, how are things going today?
|
Good! I've been hired as a valet, under the condition that I pass the drug test I just took. Income!
You? |
I am pretty good myself. I applied yesterday to take my lvl two distribution papers at work. From what I gather it is pretty basic stuff and more a case of time consuming than difficult. Upon completion however I will get an extra $30 per week added to my pay. I also believe that it will include a promotion to a level two status. In terms of my work duties this will essentially result in well no change. Although if they are going to pay me $30 extra a week to do the same stuff, I am hardly going to complain.
It is nice to hear about your acquisition of a form of income. What do you think the job will be like? |
Eh, things could be better. I'm heading home for the weekend either tonight or tomorrow some time. Spending the weekend with my boyfriend and his family.
Work was ok. I wanted to round-house kick half of the students I had to deal with today. -.- |
Hope you have a good time with your boyfriend his family. Do you get along with them well?
It still surprises me that the students there seem to act in such an ill mannered way towards you at work. I guess this is what I get for basing my opinion of U.S. university students off the three or four I have met in person. xD |
Crimson - A larger income without the cost of added responsibility? That's a steal! Best of luck with the applications.
My friend has been working with the company for around six months, it's one of the reasons I was able to get the job. The company parks cars for various events. Basically I'll be parking hundred thousand to million dollar cars most of which are fortunetelling white or silver Lexus(s). My friend parked a Buggatti Veyron last week. Ser - I hope you're having a good time with Mike ^^. I think your work should have a massive grinder. If the student's rude their prized possessions go into it. Chomp, chomp, chomp. |
@admonished-
I think the application should go well as I applied at the request of my manager. She came, saw me and asked about what I would be studying at university. After this she enquired as to whether I had completed my level two papers yet and asked whether I would be interested in doing so. With the upcoming restructuring at work I will be getting another boost to my pay early next year. It could be an increase to my hourly base rate of about $4. It depends on how negotiations go between management and the union as to what the particulars are. We have recently gotten a new top guy who believes in the importance of treating staff well so that you can retain them. The previous person in the job did not care about turnover and only focussed on cutting costs. As a result the place had extremely high levels of staff turnover. One entire shift for instance consists of people who have joined in the past two or three months! The vast vast majority of this turnover is in my previous department which is also by far the largest department. How busy do you think your job will end up being? This is something which I have no knowledge of at all. Are you excited about the work involved? |
Crimson - If you're manager wanted you to do that, you should be golden! Well, richer at least.
Hopefully the previous manager was fired. Staff turnover's terrible for any company and you end up actually wasting money primarily due to the costs of re-training everyone. The most efficient way to cut costs is to retain your employees, not loose them. Or else they'll go work for someone else who treats them better XD. Due to the structure of the company I'll probably only work six to eight four-eight hour events a month. You're allowed to choose what events you want to work and those that you don't so it's very schedule friendly. The incentive to work more often is you'll be asked to work the larger more challenging events that pay more. The tips are pooled at the end of the night and shared evenly between the valets which is a great plus. You also receive a hourly on top of the tips. You can make anywhere from $20-60 an hour depending on the event when you include tips and hourly pay. I'm hoping to split the income between buying more stocks and working on my drift car. |
@admonished -
Yeah that is what I am thinking too. I am quite happy with my new manager. She is incredibly receptive to questions and concerns from staff. As a result she is quite popular among people who work in Receiving. I am glad to hear that there is good flexibility when it comes to your work schedule. I hope you end up getting as much work as you are wanting. |
@Crimson: I do get along with them. Been around for 6 years.
Sadly, it won't be any good times. |
I'm glad to hear that you get along with them. What do you mean by it not being good times? I am not sure if you are referring to your job or the upcoming time with them.
|
both. My day at work was not the greatest and I just wanted to leave. And the upcoming time with them is for a tragic thing.
|
I am really sorry to hear that you will be spending time with them under such circumstances. I send my positive thoughts your way!
|
Crimson - Hopefully she'll have a prosperous work career with that attitude ^^.
Hopefully! I really need to expand my investment portfolio. Also I'll need half a dozen drift spares for the car. |
How are other aspects of your week going?
|
Well enough to say. I've been twiddling my thumbs after discovering why my car's turbo and engine were misfiring under boost. I need to either swap the engine or rebuild it. I've been sort of trying to sell the car and sort of trying to buy another 240sx. Both alternatives are progressing slowly. Otherwise there's been school, homework, and other mundane responsibilities to take care. Also my cat has been getting into something and vomiting everywhere. I have no idea what, alas I continue to look into the situation.
How about you? |
Hope there is nothing too wrong with your cat. What is your homework?
ITM rugby scores are not entirely going my way this round. Although the team I support won their game despite their messy performance so that is something. I am quite in the mood for soda at the moment so will quite likely go get some soon. I also received a free ebook today. I opted to receive it in pdf format. |
The one in question has liver cancer. Luckily he's not in pain and will hopefully have a few more months of basking in the sun. Currently revising various police reports for my professional police writing class.
What team do you support? To be honest, I don't really observe sports though I've always fancied rugby and cricket. Hm. Soda's so yummy, the neighboring city has a wonderful restaurant with a classic soda fountain. Real sugar. Ah, nice. Always good to have another book! Do you have a tablet or a Kindle to read it on? I've lately started using my tablet for reading various papers. |
I am incredibly sorry to hear about your cat then! I am glad that he is not in pain, but it still sucks a lot. Haha and your homework doesn't sound very entertaining at all. Hopefully it is something you are enjoying. Although since you previously identified it as being mundane that might not be the case.
I support the Auckland Blues. They have made it through to the semi finals which will be next week. They will either be up against Wellington or Taranaki. I am not particularly concerned with either team, as I am quite confident Auckland can beat them both. I am worried about Canterbury though who I am expecting to make it through to the finals. They are quite a dangerous team when on form and unfortunately they are on form at the moment. Their last three games have been stunning victories 44-03, 56-11 and 84-00. Not to mention they are chasing their fifth title in a row now. The last time another team won was back in 2007. Yeah, I am quite happy to get it. The writer was doing a giveaway on Goodreads for it. I entered and he sent me a message with a code that enabled me to download it for free. The book is The Evolution of Human Intellect. I am not agreeing entirely with the book as he has been making several assertions about sociocultural theory which I disagree with. However his writing style is quite novel. No, I don't have either. I am actually not very fond of reading ebooks. I vastly prefer reading physical books. With this however it is only 43 pages long, so I can make an exception. |
sorry for your kittie |
Hello hummy, how is your day going?
|
Home for a couple days. Though the tragedy of the stuff that happened that brought me to come home, I forgot that my family was getting together today for my brother's birthday (nothing said about mine if I do make it there... Mine is next week)
We probably won't go to it because we just want to relax. It's been a hard couple of days. Everything happened so quickly and all of us are still processing it through and such. If we do go anywhere, it'll probably be to a friend's house to spend time with the middle brother and a couple other friends. |
