Yeah, mike and I were talking about that. He's all relaxed at home and we were talking about some fun stuff. and I had mentioned how I was busy with homework and such, but was happy with how he is so understanding with it. He said that it is important and how I'm paying lots of money for it and such.
I told him that once I finally finish the damn degree, it'll be good and we'll have plenty of relaxy time. even though we'll be paying out of our asses for it ^^" |
I think you're the smart ones for dealing with the home life and saving money, tbh.
|
Yeah.
The good thing is right now, the loans he has for school (his 4-yr which was only for 2 years of) his parents are helping him with it. So, when I finish school and we have to deal with my loans (2,5 years of loans from Fredonia, and the 2ish from here), his will already have had some payments taken care of and we'll be able to figure it out. Edit: 12.08pm est I feel like an old lady atm looking at all the pills I'm taking this morning Allergy pill, sinus pill, 2 midol, and 2 cold med pills. o.o mmm medication cocktail. |
Ouch, that's a lot of pills. I hope they didn't interact badly.
Sorry I didn't reply last night, I'm getting into my holiday "I hate the internet" mood. |
Nah they didn't. I was feeling quite good today
That's ok. ^^ Why "I hate internet" mood? Oh this is kind of funny, my roommate and I had roommate bonding time ghetto rigging our upstairs toilet this evening. |
I guess I just find better stuff to do in the holidays than the internet. I like the Christmas movies and decorating and cooking and all that good stuff.
LOLZ what did you do to it? |
Yeah, that makes sense. I get like that when I get home for my Christmas break since I spend too much time on the internet at school
What happened was: I came home from the store, went to the bathroom, flushed toilet, the cheap ass already breaking plastic handle broke off on the inside of the tank. The ball that goes up and stops the tank from filling is attached to the handle by a chain, it just sat at the bottom and the tank wasnt filling... so, the toilet was running all the time. I called my community office, they put in a work order and they won't be in till monday. So, the water is still running. I realised that ok, so we can still shower... But, Chen's bed is right against the wall of the bathtub. So, I go to her door, knock, ask her if she can hear the toilet, I let her know what happened, we go into the bathroom and we're standing there, she's holding the rod up with the ball attached to it and the water stops running. So, it hits us to tape the rod to something in the toilet to keep it up. That doesn't work, she comes up with the idea to stick something under the rod with the ball to keep it level to keep the water form running. So, I go and grab an empty bottle of body wash I had that I was using teh rest of the body wash for hand soap since we ran out early in the week. Success! So, Chen and I, both graduate students had bonding time ghetto-rigging our upstairs toilet so we don't have water running 24/7 because our problem is not an emergency since we have the downstairs toilet. Oh yeah and so she can sleep too. :P |
Yeah, that's part of it too. I guess I like to watch movies more and stuff.
Ahhhh, there is nothing like bonding over a broken toilet. ;) XD |
Yeah, I'll spend my winter break when it starts on the 12th watching anime and Gundam Wing
[lol] I guess so ;) I joked on facebook about the awesomeness of 2 grad students figuring out how to stop it. a friend of mine replied about our degrees being good for something. |
I have the week off, so I'm relaxing a bit right now before I need to write a paper in the middle of the week or so, so that I won't have to do it next weekend.
Lolz, yep. Graduate degree schooling and you're qualified to fix a toilet. Sounds about right. |
I'm still working on the assignment that was due on wednesday that my prof gave me a few more days to finish. I'll have it done tomorrow with a note attached thanking her for giving me a few days extra since it gave me a chance to feel much better and get into a much better mindset to finish it.
I get Wednesday-Monday off. I don't have class on Mondays anyway. But, I'll be finishing some stuff for other classes on Friday and Saturday while Mike is at work. I dunno yet though whether I'll be at his house, my mom's with my cat, or with my dad and on what days yet ^^" I know Sunday I'm spending it with him, and Monday I go back. |
Yeah, it was nice of your teacher to do that. Most of my teacher's will give you extra time, but with the stipulation that points will be deducted for each day. The only excuse is either hospital or death.
No matter what you end up doing it sounds like a nice little holiday. |
Yeah, mine heard and saw how sick I was on Wednesday because I had to come to class (mandatory) and I had to present for my group for the discussion we had. So, she was understanding. I don't get any points taken off even though, yes we are graduate students and adults and should be good at time management stuff, but the professors understand we're human and when we're sick and taking medicine for it, our minds may not be in good mode and be in fog mode, so it's understood. I have till the weekend... Well, I mentioned end of the weekend, so I'm sending it in to her tomorrow at the latest.
She also is giving me and my groupmates from the first assignment a second chance to do something on our own (individually) to make up for our failing the group assignment. Which it's due the 12th, a week after the big lit review for the same class, and 2 days after a group assignment for another (but me and my partner for it are doing ok on it. kind of. We'll figure it out after thanksgiving) |
Yeah, it's nice when they recognize that we're human. Sometimes it's just not possible to do things, and I am so tired of professors and people who don't understand that.
Oh good. That probably takes a load off your shoulder and makes it possible for you to pass that class. |
Yeah, Grad school is an entirely different animal than undergrad school. Most Undergrads are younger and between 17-22ish, so not like they have families and such.
A lot of my class are adult learners who have kids and are between my age (25) and older (in 50s) I have a friend in one of my classes (the one I'm working on a project with) is 31 (tho no kids and such yet). most have full time jobs and have to juggle work, family, and school. So, the professors are more understanding. Though yes, we are students first in most cases, but they do get it that we're human and get sick and have stuff happen. Yeah, myself and one girl are relieved that she did that. It's still gonna be stressful and a lot of work, but I can figure it out. But, once that is handed in on the 12th, I am done and can relax and do what I want... though I will still have work till the end of Finals. Which is fine. |
I can see that--the biggest problem's most undergrads have is how drunk they got the day before a test.
Meh, work won't be so bad once you get rid of the school. |
lol! exactly. :P
I was one of the smart undergrads. I still don't drink the night before I have an exam.. heck, I rarely have a drink nights before I have classes. Yeah, work will be much better once no classes are involved. ^^ Earlier tonight I decided to treat myself and bought a stick of cloloured lip gloss. A good brand too. ^^ End result of my getting it on without messing up ^^" I don't wear makeup that often.. Actually I barely wear any. http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...32815231_n.jpg |
My dad went on a liquor run tonight for our Thanksgiving dinner and brought home some 100 proof peppermint schnapps, speaking of alcohol. One teaspoon of that stuff was like drinking flaming ice. If that makes sense. XD
Ohh, it looks very pretty. [yes] You chose a great shade. What brand is it? Surprisingly I don't wear that much makeup, and when I do it's not much. I do have a couple of acne scars that are currently healing so I like to cover them up, and I have thin skin around my eyes so I look bruised there often so I like to put a bit of foundation there as well. Sometimes I wear some eyeliner on my waterline and some mascara, but it's rare. |
Yeah, that makes perfect sense. I'm not a big fan of peppermint schnapps O_o 100proof? O_O I've had 99proof peache schnapps before, cherry too. I've even shotted those.. o.o
Thanks ^^ It's Plum luster colour from Maybelline. First time I really ever bought an "expensive" makeup o.o Mike really liked it on me. It's not like a lipstick, more like a lip gloss which is good. I don't like lipsticks really. You put it on with an applicator brush thingy. :) I'll wear eyeliner when I remember to, rarely wear any lip colour, I stick with lip balm most of the time. I never wear mascara (have none around me really), can't wear nail polish because I work in food, I have pressed powder I'll wear sometimes to help me look a little better (but it's a cheapo one because I was unemployed when I bought it at the dollar store... so I don't use it) |
I know, I'd seen some 70 proof stuff but my eyes bugged out of my head when I saw the 100 proof. I'm supposing the Jaegermeister he bought a few years ago was up there in proof but I paid no attention. Either way it was kinda fun, but not something I'd drink all the time
When I was in high school I was very into plum lipstick. It looked pretty but back then it was the only thing I wore so it was kinda like putting lipstick on a pig to quote McCain. XD Like I wouldn't do my hair or anything. But to this day I still love the plum colors. Yeah, I'm not big into lip products. I like my Nivea lip balm and that's it. Everything else is so goopy. To me makeup has to be simple. If it has to be reapplied a thousand times throughout the day I don't want it. It makes life far too complicated. But yeah, makeup is so expensive. Especially because I like to buy Neutrogena for foundation, and that stuff is bad expensive. |
I drink 75 proof vodka (37.5%) I can drink it straight to an extent. I will maybe have 2 shots, and then mix the rest of the night. I prefer to put it in something else. (I drink Finlandia vodka)
I've always loved purple colours. I dunno what exactly I was going for when I was looking at the makeup. but, I remembered I had this nice purple lipstick I used awhile back, so I grabbed the one I have now. I didn't cake the stuff on since I prefer it to feel not so heavy on my lips. When I was younger I wore eyeliner a lot... I sometimes went a little heavy (goth phase for awhile ^^") But, I only wore the eyeliner. so it looked pretty strange. I would hate to have to reapply anything, I have always been the "put it on once, and leave it alone" person. Eh, but Neutrogena is good for the skin at least ^_^ I think I'm gonna head to bed. I'm seriously going to try to finish this assignment tomorrow. I have a lot of stuff to get started and finished before I go home on Wednesday. ^^" Night :D |
I can drink heavier liquors if they're mixed in with like fruity drinks, but I'm not big on the burning sensation. It's an entertaining thing once in awhile but I'd rather have a light wine.
I didn't know I was such a big purple freak until I was a sophomore in high school. I guess I didn't know the color existed. XD But I've loved purple ever since. I'm very untalented when it comes to eyeliner, even now, so I've never had an eyeliner phase. I feel deprived. ;D Yeah, Neutrogena will still mess your skin up if you don't wash it off, but it's better than some other things. Night. |
I have to drink heavy liquor with something and thats when I do drink, and purple is a nice color to have. Eyeliner is pure evil I can't put it on without harming myself even when I got to the eye doctor its really hard for me to handle them touching my eyes.
|
it easier to keep your hand steady with eyeliner if you have your elbow resting on the counter or something. That helps keep me from stabbing my eyeball.
I do like the color Ser :) I know how you feel about lipstick, it tends to feel kinda thick to me or dry I don't like that gloss is better. If you ask me though ELF brand has some pretty great stuff for $1 - $3, after spending a ton of money on wedding make up they are pretty much all I buy now. Wow I love peppermint but that sounds SO strong. Russ tried to get me to drink some in hot chocolate (it's called a snow ball XD) but it made my eyes water |
I need to try the elbow on the counter thing. I like eyeliner, but it's such a hassle for me.
I think I'll have a little more of it. I actually kind of liked it, but I don't want much. XD I want to put a candy cane in my hot chocolate this year. Don't think I could stand putting alcohol in it, even though I've heard of it. |
