Ouch... But oh so true. Heh.

Bound Birdie 12-26-2012 04:15 AM

Truth is funnier then fiction XD

ElysiumFate 12-26-2012 04:54 AM

Gotta love the American way of thinking.

Once so brilliant: oh how we have fallen.

Bound Birdie 12-26-2012 04:57 AM

There's still a few bright lights. We just need some restructuring.

ElysiumFate 12-26-2012 05:15 AM

I think we need a major overhaul. There's not much I'm impressed with anymore.

JediMercJeff 12-26-2012 05:16 AM

The blinking bulbs aren't blinking anymore. Kinda like my Christmas tree! -.-

Bound Birdie 12-26-2012 05:28 AM

Thats a sad but funny at the same time analogy.

I dunno sometimes I do just want to pour all my money into buying a privet island in some place like panama and hiding away

ElysiumFate 12-26-2012 05:29 AM

Lol, that's a good way to put it.

I guess with all the bad things happening lately (shootings, fiscal cliff, etc., inequality for women) I get kinda tired of saying that "Oh, there's still something good, let's not forget about it.

JediMercJeff 12-26-2012 05:33 AM

America is a wounded and bruised country. And a good deal of it is self-inflicted.

And this is coming from an Air Force guy.

Bound Birdie 12-26-2012 05:39 AM

There is, it's just hard to go up against such a well placed wall, it gets kinda defeatism like What can you do?
But then every now again I have customers that pay for the people behind them and then they payed for the order behind them. That really made my night. People are good it just I dunno takes a little work to bring it out :(

ElysiumFate 12-26-2012 05:46 AM

Oh yes, there are good people in America, I try not to forget that, but they're good against all odds. There are a lot of reasons to be sad and distant in this country anymore.

Bound Birdie 12-26-2012 05:51 AM

I know that's why I want to move XD

or like live on the Residency. now THAT's a great dream.

ElysiumFate 12-26-2012 06:05 AM

What is the Residency?

Bound Birdie 12-26-2012 06:16 AM

I can't find the link, I'm still looking

but its a cruise ship that you live on and travel the world.

ElysiumFate 12-26-2012 06:17 AM

Oh, that's cool. I didn't know they really did things like that, but it sounds fun...at least for a few months.

Bound Birdie 12-26-2012 06:20 AM

The World - Luxury Residences at Sea

there we go. I think you can do a six month rental XD but yeah I know it's like $5,000 a month upkeep beyond the purchase price

ElysiumFate 12-26-2012 06:30 AM

Oh wow, that's pretty. Definitely only for the really well off, though

Bound Birdie 12-26-2012 06:36 AM

lol I did a group report a loooong time ago where we took that concept modified it to have a greenhouse and some other necessities to be SELF SUSTAINING so it was like a little city.

How's THAT for a commune. Luckily we only needed the structure plans, not an economy plan and such but utopia always works on paper XD

ElysiumFate 12-26-2012 06:52 AM

Yeah, it's an awesome idea in theory. I personally wouldn't want to be stuck on a ship forever, though.

Bound Birdie 12-26-2012 06:58 AM

Well it's not like you still couldn't take the concept and transfer it to a building. Lol just use the ship as the retirement home XD
I dunno I would stay docked longer at places to, I don't think I can really experience a place in a day or two.

ElysiumFate 12-26-2012 07:01 AM

Yeah, more like a week in one place. I would do that as a six month vacation. It'd be amazing.

I think Japan is already trying to come up with those self sustaining buildings because of their massive population.

Bound Birdie 12-26-2012 07:03 AM

OH yeah, they already have some amazing things are way ahead in some concepts and testing. I saw one was a pyramid out in it's bay, but it can't happen because it was SO big it wouldn't support it's own weight :(

ElysiumFate 12-26-2012 07:05 AM

Yeah, the things they have planned are so massive. They should start on a smaller scale. I remember seeing one that was like, at least a thousand stories tall. Honestly. Maybe at some point, but do try something more realistic first. o.o

Bound Birdie 12-26-2012 07:15 AM

Well they have been pretty successful with some more realistically sized buildings, but it's not solving there problem. So they are getting REALLY creative. I'm just glad they aren't trying to build them right off the bat like those man made islands that are sinking back into the ocean O.o

ElysiumFate 12-26-2012 07:20 AM

Yeah, anything man made that floats is destined to fail. Poor Venice is going to be gone within a few generations. Though, hopefully they'll find a way to fix it before that happens.
