I just wish man would stop underestimating natures power to reclaim

ElysiumFate 12-26-2012 08:25 AM

I think a lot of people understand nature's power to reclaim, but want to deny it exists.

I mean, Florida is not long for this world, but people will live there till water's lapping at their feet.

Bound Birdie 12-26-2012 08:34 AM

Or the people that will rebuild there place the just got hit by like the third hurricane or tornado O.O

ElysiumFate 12-26-2012 08:42 AM

Yeah, that's a toughie. I mean tornadoes happen everywhere, so I can see that one. I guess people just do it because that's where they were born and raised.

There's really no place on earth safe from everything. But certain things they just need to give up on sometimes. Like living at the base of a volcano.

Bound Birdie 12-26-2012 08:56 AM

Well one thing about tornado's did make me a little irate, in one of my classes we watched a movie and this guy created these homes that had this really long cone at the top and he had done scale test and evidently they were tornado proof and he wanted to build a few (with some grant money he had already been approved for so not even out of there pocket) To test and hopefully use to build safe homes. They said no because they were HIDEOUS not anything else. He was taken back and like at lest let me do a few shelters and they said that it was "Sight pollution" I believe this was in Kansas right in that tornado alley area O.O I was like "what else is there to look at? Call it contemporary art!"

ElysiumFate 12-26-2012 09:01 AM

Were they really that hideous in your opinion? The only thing is I don't know if they'd be more safe than an underground bunker, in which case I could agree with them if they had plenty of those types of shelters around, but otherwise that's just a selfish excuse. Or a lazy excuse.

Bound Birdie 12-26-2012 09:07 AM

It was literally just a really pointy slick (some kind of metal) cone, there wouldn't be any one area for the wind to get under and lift it. Like Elves hats for lack of a better reference, and in the movie they were just the plain metal but I'm sure you could paint it and such and it would be fine. Besides like factories and cows are beautiful pristine terrain.

Stick a windmill generator on the top of a group of them, and call it an ultra-modern wind farm.

LonelyOtaku97 12-26-2012 04:48 PM

Those windmill generators are cool.

JediMercJeff 12-26-2012 04:50 PM

Hey, Lonely. :)

Yeah, the wind farms are pretty cool. Saw them a good bit in the flat lands of Northern California. Oddly amazing to see!

LonelyOtaku97 12-26-2012 04:51 PM

Hey Jeff and thats cool you saw them in California.

JediMercJeff 12-26-2012 05:01 PM

Yeah. Oddly enough I haven't seen them in abundance anywhere else I've been.

LonelyOtaku97 12-26-2012 05:17 PM

Yeah theres not to many here other than Vestas.

JediMercJeff 12-26-2012 05:19 PM

Meh. *wibble wobble* So how are you? :D

Bound Birdie 12-26-2012 08:55 PM

Oh there's a MASSIVE windfarm where Oregon meets Idaho it's just all there blank rolling hills COVERED in wind turbines as far as the eye can see. Actually very pretty in the sunset XD

JediMercJeff 12-26-2012 09:00 PM

See? THAT'S what I'm talking about! :)

Bound Birdie 12-26-2012 09:08 PM

Yeah there wasn't nothing else out there XD so I'm glad they put it to good use
I almost want to find a picture now

JediMercJeff 12-26-2012 09:11 PM

That would be really cool! I'd want to see it! :D

Bound Birdie 12-26-2012 09:18 PM

Oh well I just googled Oregon wind farm and a bunch came up, I'm trying to see if I can find one that shows how massive it is, but it's a bunch of pretty shots of them with rainbows XD

JediMercJeff 12-26-2012 09:24 PM

Oooooh that's neat! :D

Bound Birdie 12-26-2012 09:29 PM

there we go that's a better shot I think looks more like what I see on my road trips anyway. It's along the gorge river that runs along the other side.

JediMercJeff 12-26-2012 09:57 PM

Oh that's so awesome! :D

Bound Birdie 12-26-2012 09:59 PM

Yep I know the state parks have some cabins and camp grounds out there and your allowed to raft and fish out there. I want to try it someday XD

JediMercJeff 12-26-2012 10:11 PM

That'd be something in the realm of epic! If you do, you have to get pics.

Bound Birdie 12-26-2012 10:14 PM

lol I tend to vacation at the beach most of the time XD I out there is much farther so, I haven't gotten to it yet.
I'll admit I was land locked all my life so when I get to see the ocean I get all [squee]
