Yeah, I have a bunch of readings to do. Only a couple things due tonight, 1 class tomorrow night, and then the rest of teh stuff is dispuirsed through the week
|
Aw well that seems easy hey ser can you find a way to translate something from chinese to english? My teacher gave me a reading and I have no way to translate it so now I'm super frustrated.
|
O.o why would your teacher do that?
My best bet is to search for a translator. It wouldn't be the best thing online because there are many meanings. |
*sneaks into thread like a freakin' ninja*
[ninja] Rainy's finally in the real college. I'm living in a dorm and everything. I hate it, lol! I live on the floor the farthest away from the D.A., so it's pretty much the 'party floor'. The rules don't exist there. @[email protected] |
Oh no poor you Rainbow how do you like college outside of living in the dorms?
|
Ok, that's not good Rainy :( I liked how my dorms were set up in my Undergrad school. I lived in the suite dorms and each set of I think around 7 suites had 1 Resident Assistant. So, not much partying could happen.. Well, in my res hall we did have godo times... We were an upperclass dorm and so no one really care THAT much. Our Resident Director that we got the second semester I lived in there was awesome! He also was a cool boss (I was a Night Desk attendant)
|
Well, if you have to live in the dorms next year Rain, sign up for a dorm early and tell them you don't want a party floor. They'll know what you mean.
I need to go find my reading for tonight and print it out. I've found that I really don't have homework in these classes. It's just studying for tests and one psych article per class for my one class. ---------- Post added 01-27-2013 at 06:50 PM ---------- Though I know I'll have lab reports and stuff later on. |
I'm studying massage therapy, so not too many papers for me - only for the business and other required classes do I have intense homework. xD;
Nyaa. We have an RA, but.. she doesn't do anything. She joins in, lol. |
I have a few things to do this semester, but 1 class where I have homework every week.
|
I'll find out how bad it'll be once I go to my first lab on Thursday. Hopefully it won't be too bad. I really don't like working in labs because you have partners and shiz, but I have to.
|
:( Eep. I hate labs. (Sorry to jump in) Haha.
|
I don't go to a university right now though, but I am of the age. I go to community college :B
what's up? |
Hello Faye. I love your name it's so pretty. :)
Not much is up. Uni starts for me early March. Another month of holidays thank god! |
Thanks it's actually more of a nickname, my real name is Faythe (sounds like faith) but sometimes people have just butchered up so I'm ok with going by Faye.
Luuuuucky. I started school on the 14th, it's OK so far, but I know it will get stressful. e.e; I love being on my school paper, but our standards are so high that we stay in newsroom at school until 6 in the morning sometimes. |
Oh wow. That's wonderful, how did your parents come up with that one? :O It's really cute. I have a friend (and many others) who are all called "James", because their parents looked at the statistics for names that wouldn't be able to be the subject of bullying.. And apparently James is key. LOL.
Lol, you're a slave driver you are. ;p Do you have to churn out the papers every week or month? ;o |
Most of the people in this thread started in community college including me. I started at Uni last semester.
I started back from break last week, but I could've stood another month off--so tired. |
Aww Ely. Why so tired?
How did you transition from community to uni? |
My school puts out a newspaper every weekday. It's the reason I refused to even try to get into newspaper.
---------- Post added 01-27-2013 at 08:56 PM ---------- I'm tired because I haven't had a summer off in about four years, and while most of my classmates took Senior year of high school as a time to goof off I did 15 classes that year. 8 one semester and 7 the other, three of which were AP or college courses. So yeah, just burnt out. I'm at the point where being "tired" just doesn't go away no matter how long I sleep because it's not that kind of tired, it's the mental tired from so much work. |
My mom just liked spelling things wrong I guess, that and she said she wanted it to be different hahaha. My dad just went it I guess, not really sure why I didn't question them about, cause I personally like writing it out. /ego ohlolol
Hahah, those are some considerate parents! I didn't know there'd be statistics like that xD Definitely, especially writing, drawing (although sometimes, dependent on what it is /if the editor-in-chief assigns it to me) and editing people's stuff (definitely one of the harder ones of the three when it's not your work and its grammar and AP style isn't there oh god). Although I enjoy it, I'm in my sixth semester now, final one too. The traveling to different places like Chicago in this past November and Orlando the November before that was fun and competing in individual competitions (and /sometimes/ winning) is cool. It's nice to have your own desk at school with a computer and some people coming up to you saying they've read your stuff/like your drawings. Have you seen "Pitch Perfect?" (If not it's actually a pretty OK movie, worth watching) My community college life has been like that since I joined the paper, but instead of competitive acapella, it's making sure there's no errors in your stuff and how fast you can write and if it's a good article in the allowed time given (in on-site competitions). Plus when we go my staff is the loudest, obxious and most diverse of any at these things but rightfully so because our newspaper over the years has been the best in the country by community college standards and even the university journalism students dig it. :B ---------- Post added 01-27-2013 at 08:00 PM ---------- @Elysium, Oooh girl I feel it. Universities usually do it daily, if I ever do that I'm only doing one specific thing and not everything e.e ---------- Post added 01-27-2013 at 08:03 PM ---------- I'm feeling the burn-out myself, unemployed and have to deal with school. Like everyone else, I would like some instant gratification [gonk] |
That sounds amazing. I'm so jealous :) My uni life is a lot different from that. I'm doing IT and science at uni, so there isn't a lot of writing going on (thank god! i'm so bad at communicating myself.)
I have actually seen pitch perfect, I watched it when I was flying on the 21st Jan this year. :) How convenient! Haha. That's great!! Personality makes writing! |
I'm not much of a science person, but I enjoy it nonetheless, I always thought IT was cool, pretty good to go into too. You should watch the BBC show "IT Crowd" it's really funny. Hopefully such ridiculous chaos comes to your work that way, but not directly happening to you, of course c: I just finished the first season
I'm not so good at communication myself, I loathe doing interviews which is why I always put that off until the very end, I never have my questions together to ask people until sometime after the interview took place. [gonk] Being introverted and having poor time management skills make it hard. I usually write opinion pieces and reviews. very convenient o.o |
@Faye: Haha, for sure. I can't imagine trying to research, interview for, and write an article every day...that would be absurd, especially while trying to do stuff for classes. :P
Yeah, I would love some instant gratification at this point. Just anything--a job that wasn't fast food, or retail, or something to say that this work is worth it. |
Exactly, I don't even find myself apply to fast food, retail yeah, what else is there. But I'm always looking on craigsilst to see --oh yeah, I can totally do that and send in resumes and such with no response. I'm hoping by the end of semester it'll be better. Generally some life changing shit for me.
Anyway, what work would you want to do? |
Ya know, I'd love a job as a secretary or something of the sort right now. Just a secretary in a psych office (my major) or something similar. Perhaps an internship in human resources of some business or something.
I wouldn't apply to fast food unless it was a last ditch effort. Some retail is fine to work as long as you have some seniority going for you. |
*yawns and wanders in wearily* Peeps.
