Oh. Now I understand! So, how're things?

ElysiumFate 03-25-2011 10:02 PM

They're good. I came home and took a three hour nap. And boy, I needed that.

Is it bad that my couch has better lumbar support than my mattress? XD It was an expensive mattress too.

seaturtle16 03-25-2011 10:29 PM

Eh, surprising, not necessarily bad. Although I've noticed that sometimes, just having a change can make my back feel a lot better, whether or not the new set up would be better in the long term. Variety is just nice sometimes.

ElysiumFate 03-25-2011 10:35 PM

I think the comfort of my mattress depends a lot on what position I sleep on when I go to bed. And there's something about me where I tend to sleep better in the daytime when there's sunlight coming through the windows and I'm upstairs. I don't necessarily have bad dreams, but when I'm asleep at night I sometimes get an uncomfortable feeling that I never get in the afternoon when I'm on the couch.

I think it's because I was convinced there was a ghost in my current bedroom for two years before I moved into it. :\

BlackCart29 03-26-2011 01:15 AM

beds are a construct. I don't need beds. I sleep on the floor.

ElysiumFate 03-26-2011 02:09 AM

Lol. Whatever floats your boat.

BlackCart29 03-26-2011 04:22 AM

It was an inside joke for seaturtle, I'm not really that hipster. LOL

ElysiumFate 03-26-2011 04:34 AM

Haha. Good. I have a friend who would sleep on the floor or on couches instead of beds if she's given the option in motel rooms, etc. She crazy.

BlackCart29 03-26-2011 06:15 AM

I don't know ... my back always feels really good after sleeping on the floor for a night.

Ling 03-26-2011 06:34 AM

Seriously? I've slept in sleeping bags on the floor before, and I found even that uncomfortable...ah well....to each their own.

sarofset 03-26-2011 07:30 AM

Indeed. I prefer to be off the floor. I love my beds... I have two. One is a small twin, and the other is a king sized one with a nice foam mattress. Though for some reason I'm the only one who really likes that bed.

ElysiumFate 03-26-2011 05:31 PM

I think the foam mattress beds are weird. You sink into it, and foam has always had a distinct smell to me that I dislike extremely. I like those sleep number beds. Don't have one, but I always sneak in and lounge on one if I see a store. :)

Sleeping on the floor always makes me feel like I'm sleeping in a coffin for some reason. I don't like doing it. And if I don't have anything remotely soft under me, I walk around with more pains than a crochety ninety year old woman for two days straight.

TaiyoTsuki 03-26-2011 09:12 PM

I've never had that happen. Then again, I can (quite literally) sleep anywhere.

BlackCart29 03-26-2011 09:13 PM

Really? That's so strange to me, if my back has been bothering me for whatever reason, I go and sleep on the floor to fix it up.

I don't esp. care for foam bed either, but feather beds are legit.

FeyonaSaibre 03-26-2011 09:23 PM

So.... I didn't even know we had a college aged thread. Sweet! <3

TaiyoTsuki 03-26-2011 09:50 PM

Yep, we do.

AGH!!!! One of these days I'm gonna report the girls in the room next to mine for having their music too freaking loud.

seaturtle16 03-26-2011 11:36 PM

Hello Uni Thread!

@Black - Black. Black like my soul.

@The Bed Discussion - I don't really have a preference for beds. I never had a decent one growing up and so they just seem like another thing that's there, not of any real interest to me. I do love a nice, comfortable bed as much as the next person, but for me, it's sort of just a thing that happens, not something I pay much attention to.

ElysiumFate 03-26-2011 11:47 PM

I would like to announce that I finished my first hat. *nods* I am proud of myself. :)

I have a really nice bed, and I'm a luxury hound, as my dad always says. I automatically search out the best, and if I can make it possible for myself to have it, I sure as heck will.

TaiyoTsuki 03-26-2011 11:57 PM

I like the bed I've got in my dorm room. But then again, that's coming from a girl who can sleep anywhere and through anything. It's a common joke between my friends and me that if the world ended I'd end up sleeping through it.

ElysiumFate 03-26-2011 11:59 PM

I used to be able to sleep through anything, but I've gotten a little more paranoid as I've gotten older. I don't trust a lot of people around me when I sleep, so I wake up for the smallest sounds anymore.

TaiyoTsuki 03-27-2011 01:28 AM

That's like my mom, but women's sleeping habits change once they have kids. Seems even a little whimper will wake up a mom.

Or in my case, my back cracking.

ElysiumFate 03-27-2011 01:37 AM

Lol. That's very true.

I have that too. Everyone knows when I'm awake when they hear a groan and me forcing my vertebrae back into place with an unnatural stretch.

TaiyoTsuki 03-27-2011 03:06 AM

Oh, you should hear my back go off sometime. I don't even have to be awake either! I woke up my mom one night by my back cracking so loud she thought it was going to break. I was asleep, and my back was flat and my hips were turned on their side. Lo and behold, my back was going off like a firework.

And when I wasn in high school it was not out of the ordinary for me to crack my back during drill team practice and make the XO of my NJROTC unit jump. Once Commander--the ROTC instructor--actually asked if I was trying to break my back.

ElysiumFate 03-27-2011 03:33 AM

Haha. Nice. I'm glad my back isn't that bad.

It's my knee that gives me crap. When the seasons change, be it from summer to winter or winter to summer, my knee feels like it's about to blow a gasket because it's in so much pain. It's always been that way. It's fine the rest of the year, but the changing weather does it in.

TaiyoTsuki 03-27-2011 04:10 AM

Believe it or not i don't have a bad back. just one that pops and cracks like a firework.

Bad knee for me too. i've twisted the darn thing umteen different times....
