Why does it have to be 'you kick like a girl'? Why not 'you kick like a weakling', or a softie, or a wimp? All words that don't promote heterosexism and are just as descriptive.

ReineDeLaSeine14 02-01-2011 01:26 PM

Props ljosberinn :)

Guess what? My school is STILL OPEN. And the residents' cars are all parked in the commuter lots so I don't know where they're gonna go. I live across the street from my class and I'm not going (unstable joints/spine and ice don't mix). Waaah and I don't have milk for my tea :(

I do get to write an essay on a biblical passage for my literature class though...fun

Liquid Diamond 02-01-2011 01:31 PM

My classes were all canceled today, although there are a lot of nearby colleges where they still have school. Must be some tough cookies over on those campuses ><;

ReineDeLaSeine14 02-01-2011 02:05 PM

I guess! My prof cancelled all her classes for today :) She values our lives!

ljosberinn 02-01-2011 02:14 PM

Oh, because of snow? I was quite confused for a moment there..
What biblical passage are you writing on? I'm going to start listening to an audio version of the Bible as soon as I finish listening to The Count of Monte Cristo, I'm pretty excited. Been meaning to read it for such a long time.

ReineDeLaSeine14 02-01-2011 02:23 PM

I have to pick between the tower of Babel, the sacrifice of Issac or another one from Matthew.

Yeah we have a snow/ice storm here now. (CT)

BlackCart29 02-01-2011 02:58 PM

I love the new CI items! (I always do though...lol)

ReineDeLaSeine14 02-01-2011 03:06 PM

Eh not for me. I love cutesy stuff.

BlackCart29 02-01-2011 03:47 PM

Oh I just like things that give us more avatar options you know? it doesn't matter to me if it's 'cute' or not too much. Everyone has different style though.

ljosberinn 02-01-2011 03:57 PM

That sounds interesting Reine, good luck with it. :)

Eugh, I really don't like cutesy stuff - I think my current avatar is about as cute as I'll ever get.. and I do like the new CIs. Of course they have to come the day I finally check my bank statement and realise I've been spending waaayyyy too much in the last month. Hopefully I can find them in the marketplace instead.. I think I've actually contributed to Mene almost every month since I joined in '07, even when I can't really afford it.. >.<

fairywaif 02-01-2011 04:45 PM

I wish I had any sort of income at all. I've been living off my scholarships though, so I guess I'll just have to wait a little while longer until I get some actual money.

I like the cloak and dagger one. I'm seriously considering getting it.

ljosberinn 02-01-2011 04:49 PM

I've tried working alongside school several times before. I know it just doesn't work. Especially now I'm in my third year.. I'm paying enough for this education, I do not want to have time taken from it by a job. So I'm just living off loans.. though I'm hoping to get something on the side before I graduate, so I won't graduate and realise I have to start job hunting then.. a bit too late really. I'm hoping I can get some shifts at the pub downstairs, that would be really cool.

fairywaif 02-01-2011 05:05 PM

I meant once I'm out of school. Which won't be for some years, but still. I promise to give back to mene someday!

TaiyoTsuki 02-01-2011 06:38 PM

Sorry I poofed for so long. The internet in my dorm kept on crapping out.

And it's raining where I am instead of snowing, but according to my mom St. Louis is getting hammered. And I'm about an hour away from there too!

BlackCart29 02-01-2011 08:08 PM

My loans don't cover my school, nevermind giving me enough to live on, so I have to work during the school year, but it's not that bad.

Pearl 02-01-2011 10:16 PM

I'm in my 2nd year, I haven't gone looking for a job, but I should try finding one for the summer.

At the moment I need to read for 4 hours a day, so I'm low on free time...

TaiyoTsuki 02-01-2011 10:47 PM

I'll probably end up getting a job over the summer as well, so that I'll be able to at least buffer the cost of my books. Well, I would, if they took cash or checks instead of only plastic. Neither me nor my mom use credit cards (which is the only form of currency my universiy bookstore will take), because my mom got burned by one and in my opinion they're just a fancy way to go into debt.

BlackCart29 02-01-2011 11:41 PM

They don't take cash? That's absurd.

TaiyoTsuki 02-02-2011 01:32 AM

Ya think? Even I think it's garbage.

BlackCart29 02-02-2011 01:52 AM

Well it's also stupid in terms of their business. EVERYONE takes cash, it's guaranteed profit, unlike check and card.

:headdesk:

TaiyoTsuki 02-02-2011 05:33 AM

"But nobody carries cash anymore!"

Yeah, only those of us who DON'T want a debt machine in our wallet.

BlackCart29 02-02-2011 06:00 AM

Agreed.

Ling 02-02-2011 06:02 AM
