Meh. It doesn't sound like there is anything else you can say to him. You've said it all, it's just that he's too freaked out/stressed to listen.

Just come through with what you said you'd do on Friday, and if he still is in a bad mood, it's not your fault. He needs to figure out where his life is going now, or he'll never stop being this way.

Yeah. I'll even suggest me treating him to lunch of some sort on friday (even if it's getting him food from burger king) I want to help make him feel better. It's saddening to me seeing him like this.

Things just need to sink into his head now. He knows what he needs to do, he just wanted to feel bad about himself and I think he's taken it too far atm.

Yeah. Everybody has something that gets them stuck in a rut. I guess all you can do is be there for him the way you have been, and he'll get out of it soon. Summer is coming up and people tend to brighten up then and help themselves.

I like to think I am a good girlfriend to him. sometimes I think I'm not because he's still in this mood. But, I keep trying.

But anyway, you are. He dug himself a deep hole with his grades, it sounds like, and he's eating himself up on the inside for it. Soon enough, with your help, he'll come to the conclusion that he either needs to fix his grades by going back to school, or that he needs to find a path in life where they won't matter.

The thing is he can't do anything to change his grades unless he goes back to school and takes all 4 years again. He found out from the Uni we went to he can't just go for 2 years. So, I don't know what else he can do except apply to the schools that will accept him. He doesn't want to have to think about the fact that I would have to uproot my life after I finish grad school because that upsets him knowing that I would have to relocate because he f'd up in school. Even though I tell him I'd be ok with it and I wouldn't resent him for it.

But, when he'll let me, I'll be there to help him figure out what he'll do and help him do that.

Well, there's nothing else he wants to do? Carpentry? Welding? Mechanic? You get my drift. Some of those jobs can pay extremely well--it's all about sticking with them and working at the same place, is all. If he's interested in something like that, he could work hard and get an apprenticeship somewhere. Or something like that.

Honestly, I wish it were mandatory that kids had at least two years after high school where they either weren't allowed to go to school, or weren't stigmatized for not going to school, so that they could get over their state of moratorium and figure out what they wanted to do with their lives. That way so many less people would go to college and fail simply because they didn't have the maturity to take their opportunity or didn't know what they wanted to do.

Yeah. So the lawyer thing was the only thing he wanted? Sounds like he didn't know that if he got those grades.

I know in some European countries, it is commonplace for students to take a year or 2 off to travel or do stuff. My RA this past Fall was from Sweden and that's what he did after high school. Which explained why he was only a year younger than me and a junior when most juniors were in their early 20s, he's turning 24 this year.

Yeah, his life goal is to go to law school and become a lawyer and now it includes being able to do that and be able to provide a good life for me. Considering I would possibly be working a job that doesn't get as much pay as his would.

One of these days I'm going to have to go camp my ass in a European country for a year or something just to see if it is truly better over there. Every time I hear something about what European countries do compared to the U.S. I just want to scream and say: "Wth didn't we think of that?" XD

*shrugs* I dunno what I would do in his situation. It'd probably consist of choosing a different career, but since he won't do that, I don't have any good advice.

Brazil would be an awesome place to start, Sora! Especially since your friend lives there, it won't be such a scary place where no one knows where they are.

@Ely: Mike and I have plans to go to Europe (especially Finland) one of these years. I've had a conversation with the Finnish guy I'm friends with on Facebook and he was telling me how Europe is falling apart in a way and that it's Europe's own doing that a lot of bad things are happening or will. It's an interesting situation they have atm.
Yeah, Mike is dead set on doing the plan for his career that he wanted. So, it's hard for him to face the fact that he did this to himself and that he was told that he cannot do what he initially wanted to and he would have to change the location of where he would get what he would want or would have to tweak it a bit. He'll be fine soon, he just needed a day to stew and let it sink in.

Oh, there are a lot of people who cosplay occasionally, although not all the time. Someone did an absolutely amazing Donatello from TMNT, and there was a mod who did Elvis getting abducted by aliens. There have been a lot more than that that I simply don't remember, as well.
