@ Vix: You're one of the few people who knows how to drink responisbly it sounds like. Though from what you said in an earlier post it sounds like you might be from someplace in Europe, because they drink pretty regularly, which (I'm assuming) leads to higher alcohol tolerances.

It is possible to drink without trying to get drunk though. I think that's one thing that a lot of Americans can't seem to get. Having one or two shots doesn't mean you have to get completely wasted. Nor does turning 21 mean you have to have the "21 shots at 21". Hell, doing that can freaking kill you. Then there's the people who like being drunk. Those are the ones where I reallly wonder, and wonder whether or not they're TRYING to commit suicide.

Don't be surprised if I pass my 21st birthday without a single drop of alcohol.

I've never heard of 21 shots at 21. Might be a local thing for where ever you are. I usually just drink with my meals or when I'm hanging around with my dad after work but when I do want to actually get drunk, I take it like a champ. I'm also smart enough to know when to stop and let myself sober up. Never drive either. Hell, I usually wind up taking care of everyone else. I'm basically the drunk that people wish there more of.

If I do drink when i turn 21 it's going to be just a shot of Kahlua with my Mom. With more cream and coffee than alcohol.

Kahlua's never been a favorite of mine unless it's in very small amounts but with coffee and cream like you're having it, it's delicious. I prefer Bailey's though, mint chocolate to be specific.

@ waifey: I've got no idea if I'll even have a drink on my 21st birthday. Which I can guarentee you won't be a lot of fun because my grandmother's a bitch, and I'll be stuck at her place.

I'm actually Puerto Rican. Our way of life is vastly different from that in America even though I live there.

I think people just don't bother to take the time and actually explain things to their kids and get them used to being around things so when they get older they don't freak out and go overboard.

That's what my parents did. They started letting me have small tastes of alcohol when I was around 13 so that I'd know what some of them taste like. I remember my reaction to tasting jin--YICK!
