@Birdie: Greek is very hit and miss with me. I either love it or hate it.

Falafel is hard to make from scratch for some reason...I can't believe Russ doesn't like pita bread. Hummus, though..that stuff can be disgusting if it's not made right.

And, oooh. Rice balls. ^.^ That would be good for me. I have tried the veggie sushi before, but I've never had any good quality stuff, so I imagine it's better than I've experienced.

That's crazy. Just 100 years ago Colorado really was a podunk southern like state, though, so I can believe it.

Greek food is so gooooood. I was born in Albania, and we moved to Greece shortly after. So I've experienced some yummy food. And feta cheese is godly. Yup.

well there is a little kit thing at my supermarket where its mostly done you just have to mix and fry, and that way I can make it without tons of oil. I know pita and flatbread mmmm, though it was store bought hummus that wasn't amazing, but it wasn't the worst either. I'll admit fresh made stuff is best, like in the sushi case, if it's not ready made it's all slimy, then it is pretty gross.

I tried that falafel kit. Well, I tried A falafel kit. It didn't work very welll--the mix didn't like to stick together while frying.

The hummus from the store always looks nasty and oily to me, so I've never tried it. Had it homemade once or twice, which makes it delicious.

@Eclipse: Feta is godly. ^_^ I have this feta-garlic mashed potato recipe I like to do during the holidays that's amazing. I also love to eat grapes with little crumbs of feta...amazing.

Yeah, it's some sort of cucumber sauce. It's like everything and sometimes it's better than other times.

It tasted good, it just didn't cook right. They ended up being flat disks instead of falafel balls because they didn't stick together right...

Hummus is definitely a health food, so that in itself makes a lot of people not like it.

My mom's cooking is the same. The only thing she can cook is creamed corn (which is delicious), and everything else...needs much help. Muuuch help.

Nawh russ isn't like that, he'll eat anything at lest once XD he eats a lot of my strange health food happily. I think it was the texture how it can be like almost gritty kinda that's something he can't stand
creamed corn is a staple in my kitchen XD Why are our moms so much alike? Does she look like a beaten dog when you can't stomach down her failed creations? Or when I got my crock pot, my mom was like "You would never eat anything I made in a crock pot" and I was like struggling to come up with excuses.

Mmm. Baklava. :) My family has splurged and bought big packages of baklava the last two Christmases.

Texture is what gets to me. I'll try almost anything once, but if I know it's going to have a certain texture, I won't touch the shit. Like, creamy potato salad with crunchy onions in it. I HATE that. The potato salad is good. Onions are good. But the two textures together? Ewwwww.

I/we don't bitch to my mum about her cooking too much. She never cooks, so when she does...we act like we appreciate it even though it's...maybe not that edible. Over the last few years I've taken to cooking my meal, and letting my mother fend for herself as she'll only eat beef, potatoes, and colby cheese, and that gets old. When we do bitch, she does kinda do the beaten dog thing, though. :lol: My mom's just good at that look, period.

yeah me to, texture can freak me out if its off. But it's not really like one particular texture but yeah, like anything soggy, (like when something crunchy is put into something creamy or what not and it becomes soggy ewww, like your friend onions, or when people put fritos in a burrito and then let it sit till there soggy *shudders* or pulp! I think is nasty like little slimy things slithering over my tongue when I just wanted orange juice.

Well I never have to deal with my moms anymore, even when we are on vacation, if she's here we eat my cooking, and if I'm in Colorado I eat my grandma's which is amazing. Potatoes and cobly are okay but a bit bland to eat all the time. Plus there are far better cheeses out there. I really don't eat beef much though at all, chickens are far more sustainable and much more tasty.

That must take him hours to make. Especially if he does the dough homemade.

I can't get my mom to eat my cooking unless it's absurdly plain. In her defense, she has a very touchy stomach, but when you can't even season ground beef with salt and pepper...it gets annoying.

I only eat beef in burger form, really. I eat more chicken than and shrimp than anything when it comes to meat. I don't honestly eat that much meat. Ever since I was a kid and finally got the answer out of my mom for what ham was made out of, I've been hard pressed to eat a lot of meat.

I have no idea, it not really often that I see them but I do know he said it was his moms recipe so yeah I think it's from scratch mmmm

Honestly raspberry's are actually on my no list for texture to, the fuzzy berry thing is strange to me, peaches to but yes any drink with something solid in it is not okay

I'm not huge on salt but I go crazy with most other seasonings. Russ loves garlic and will put heaps of it on his food XP So I give him a separate plate and then season it, maybe that could work with your mom?

Yeah if someone feeds me beef then well fine but I never buy it of my own accord, Russ loves meatloaf and I make it with ground turkey and he didn't notice until he saw the package XD But yeah I'll eat poultry and seafood as my choice meats if at all. Really I like fruit the best, but that's my sweet tooth XD

He should charge you just to smell it with how hard that stuff is to make. :lol:

I won't eat strawberries because of all of the little seeds on them. That bothers me. I also don't like ice for the same reason you don't like solid stuff in drinks.

I've done that with her food before. I guess my irritation with how picky she is on food is just too high to comply very easily anymore.

I'd keep ground beef around because I do like it in burritos. But, other than that, I probably won't keep much meat around, period, when I'm on my own. Which is good, because meat is expensive.

Yeah or no - seedless grapes... or the oranges that have the huge nasty seeds. That's why I like the little clementines >.< I don't like ice in my drinks because if it melts at all your whole drink is ruined, and russ has sensitive teeth anyway so anything that cold pains him

it is a bit more effort that way, plus it tastes better if the seasoning is cooked in.
