Soda or Pop?
What do you call your carbonated beverages? Answer in the poll, and be sure to leave a comment!
Also, what is your favorite flavor of carbonated drink? I call it soda. Pop is what you do to a soda can tab. My favorite soda is probably wild cherry cola. I especially love it from gas stations where I can mix the cherry flavor in myself. I like a LOT of cherry in my cola! |
I call is soda and pop. If it's a name brand pop I'll call it that such as Pepsi or Coke. I tend to like fruit flavored soda more but find myself drinking colas a lot because of the caffeine. I really want to get one of those "soda makers" and make my own carbonated fruit juice.
|
It's either soda, soda pop, soft drink, or Coke. I don't call it Coke often (unless it is actually Coca-Cola), but sometimes the redneck in me will show up. > _> I usually just refer to individual drinks by their name or type, but if I'm generalizing, I most often call it soda.
As for favorite flavor, I think I'm going to have to go with grape. There are a lot of great flavors out there, though, and it really depends more on my mood. |
Well since I'm not American I don't really use 'soda' or 'pop'. Basically the people in my area just call it Juice or specify the exact brand they're buying xD
|
It's pop, unless you're referring to the exact brand name. -shakes fist-
I dunno, calling it "soda" seems pretentious to me for some weird reason. Haha. |
I call it soda here in California, I know different areas usually say something different.
As for favoriteeee don't have one, I get sick drinking soda cause of all the sugar, so I'll stick to my water. |
It's FIZZY! Because well... it is.
|
We just call it by the brand name e.g. Coke, Pepsi. But if you were naming the general group I would have to say 'Fizzy Drink'. No-one says Pop or Soda here.
|
i callcorbonated drinks soda
|
I call it soda, unless I specifically ask for a certain brand when ordering dinner.
|
|
Sora calls them by their actual name XDD
probably because Sora mostly gets root beer and he never found it to be called soda, or pop, or anything XP It's is own awesome category LMAO |
The terminology is mostly a regional thing. We had this discussion in one of my middle school classes. Usually, "pop" is used in the midwest and west coast (in the US), it's "coke" in the south, and "soda" in the north and scattered in various other areas. In some places, a "soda" is plain carbonated water.
|
I've never used soda or pop, I've always just said whatever brand name it is. Seems much easier.
"Do you want a soda?" would lead to "What kind have you got?" then having to tell them and then a yes/no. "Do you want a coke (which is about the only brand of soda we ever have in the house)?" usually makes the pouring drinks stage of the day/night go a little faster. |
Pop.
Most Canadians (or maybe my school?) say it that way - and most Americans (the ones I usually talk to?) say Soda. So, I dunno. I think its a cultural thing? Regardless, I call it pop. Soda sounds like... carbonated water -_- Eww... |
I totally say soda. I've never met anyone who called a carbonated drink 'pop' though.
|
Pop.
I'll use soda when I'm typing because I've found quite a few others don't know what 'pop' means, sadly. |
I call it soda ^.^ or liquid sugar haha
I don't like carbonated beverages, so I stick with juice or water. |
I alternate between Soda and Pop, usually without noticing so much.
|
i just call it by what its called (ie. coke, 7up, sprite.. etc). being british we dont use words like "pop" or "soda"... maybe some might do but i dont!
|
Used to call it pop when I was younger. Then was using sodapop, but was told that was wrong as it was the same thing. Nowadays I just use soda or by the brand name. My favourites have to be Cream Soda, Diet Pepsi, Diet Coke, Cherry Cola and Dr. Pepper
|
I call it soda. Pop just sounds wrong to my ears.
I don't really drink soda. Occasionally I'll have a diet Dr. Pepper, but mostly I drink water. |
Yeah, I tend to just call it by its brand name too. Or soda. I know a lot of people who say pop, but soda just seems more "correct" for some reason.
|
call it by the brand name, usually never mentioned slang for the drinks.

I think it's a Canadian thing, my School and the entire area around me calls it pop. Soda seems British to me for some reason, although it's clear that they say the brand name. It's quite funny to see people say other things. And Soda does sound like carbonated water... |
