"I want to," Damien said, smiling a little. "Oh yea, what would you like for dinner? Meat, salad? Any preferences?"

"I hope you like barbeque," Sera said with a grin, directing him to one of her favorite places to eat. "They have this delicious brisket sandwich here, it just melts in your mouth."

"Doesn't matter to me, as long as it tastes good," Rose replied.

"Sounds good to me," Taylor said as he followed Sera's directions.

Damien chuckled and nodded, starting to think of what he could make for her. "Would you like me to go over and cook at your place, or would you like to come over to my house?"

Sera nodded and got out once they were there and parked. "I've been coming here for years."

"I don't know what Sera's plans are for later, so it may be a good idea to stay out of the house," Rose replied. "Besides, I don't want to be around when she decides to let her new pet wander around the place in a plastic ball for the first time."

"You'll have to tell me what all is good here," Taylor said as he followed Sera inside.

Damien snorted. "That may be a good idea," he agreed, his lips twitching in amusement. "My place it is, then."

"Well, the brisket is great, their ribs are delicious, pork or beef. They have a pretty good meatball sandwich, if you like those." Sera shrugged. "As long as you see something that you normally like, you'll like it here."

"Alright," Rose said. She glanced down at the menu.

"I'm sure I'll find something, then," Taylor replied to Sera.

Damien smiled and let her decide what she wanted to eat, since he already knew.

"Good. I'd hate for you to go hungry." Sera paused for a moment. "Physical hungry, anyway."

"I'll figure out what to do about that one later," Taylor said, waving it off. His hunger was worse than he was letting on, but he didn't want to make Sera uncomfortable.

Sera nodded after a moment, looking back at her menu and deciding what to order.

After they were done with lunch, Rose followed Damien back out to the car.

"So now what?" she asked.

"Now for your surprise, sweets," Damien said with a little smile, getting into the car. "You'll see when we get there."

"That's not fair," Rose said as she got into the car. "At least tell me where we're going?"

"Nope. You'll see when we get there." Smiling, Damien started driving towards the pet shop. He took a different route over there so she wouldn't have any idea where they were and parked in back, where there was no sign to announce the shop.

"Humor me?" He held out a long scarf to her, up near her eyes. He'd already planned this with the owners of the store.

Rose raised an eyebrow, but nodded and let him blindfold her.

Damien grinned and led her inside, putting her right in front of the cat and kitten display before removing the blindfold.

"Pick one. Or two, if you want. Whichever one you want."

Rose blinked when the blindfold was taken off, and she gasped quietly when she saw the kittens. She looked at him.

"You're... giving me one?"

"Yes, sweets, I am." Damien smiled. "Any one you want."

Rose looked at all of the kittens, trying to gauge their personalities. Finally, she looked back at Damien.

"Which one do you think?"

"Well, if you want an affectionate kitten, go with that one." Damien tapped the glass in front of a little smoky gray kitten fletched with white. "He's a lover. This one's playful, but she'll mellow out in a few years." He pointed to another kitten, a Ragdoll.

"They're all so adorable," Rose cooed. She watched the kittens play. "I think I like that one there," she said, pointing to the playful female Damien had pointed out.

"Would you like to meet her first?" Damien raised an eyebrow at her, curious.

Rose nodded.

"That's probably a good idea," she said.

Damien chuckled and nodded. An employee took the kitten out of her cage, moving over to a private room and ushering them inside as well.

Rose went into the room and immediately knelt down to see the kitten. She was immediately enamored by the little thing.

Damien chuckled as he watched the kitten go to pounce on her, her fur fluffed up from being carried around. "You like her?"
