Sprains and Broken Bones

I recently sprained my ankle really bad... I jumped on a wooden board, it snapped in two, and my ankle hit a wall. Has anyone ever broken a bone? Or just sprained a joint?

Rainy Day 11-03-2010 11:20 PM

Ouch. :'( I hope it gets better soon.

It's weird - although I'm very clumsy, I've never broken or even sprained anything. It's probably something to do with how I try to avoid doing overly dangerous things... My younger sister is really prone to sprains, though, and she's broken a couple of fingers and a toe, all on separate occasions, all due to sports. I guess being terrible at sports worked out for me in the long run?

I've had several painful injuries. I have broken my finger once, and sprained that same finger playing flag football. I sprained my ankle when I tried to jump over a net when we were getting ready to play volleyball (the net was down, but my foot got tangled in it). I thought that I had broken my nose before when I fell down when I was riding my roller blades e.o

Pretty much all of my worst injuries were related to sports XD. Though about a week ago I had accidentally kicked a chair really hard, and one of my toes hit it, and got BADLY bruise e.o

Apart from toes, I've never broken anything. I've sprained my ankles numerous times over the years. Most painful was when I tore a ligament in my knee. Did it while skiing in France and the rest of the ski group just carried on and left me there >.<
My left leg was stuck in a bent position and since I couldn't move it at all, I couldn't even get myself standing up.
I was just lying there in the snow for ages until some nice guy came by, picked me up and helped me on to a bus that was going past the doctors. I was very glad that the doctor I saw didn't speak English, as I swore very loudly at him when he pushed my leg straight to put a brace on it. I haven't been skiing since, and don't think I ever will again.

I've never broken a bone, and only seriously sprained an ankle once, unless my memory is failing me. I'm a rather careful person.

Though since I didn't notice at first that we were talking about general injuries as well, I did manage to slam my thumb in a car door once. I didn't even notice until I couldn't walk away because my finger was in the door. That hurt so badly, man. It bled and made a scab and eventually my nail fell off. It's fine now, though.

@coccyx Im normally very careful too, but I guess I just didnt listen to my common sense.
@Rainy Day Thanks, I hope it does too
@Laila Izuka Oh dang, that sounds painful O_o
@Ebil I'm sorry, my dad tore a ligament in his knee too, although Im not quite sure how

Sprains hurt a lot...

My worse injury was probably when I broke my right elbow.
Even to this day that arm is a little messed up.

Draciolus 11-04-2010 12:45 AM

Lets see...when I was younger(ages 1-3) I broke both my arms. Starting with left, then right, then left again. Gotta love brothers who dont know how to play nice. Other than that, only the usual sprained ankle from rough housing, and black eye which to this day, I cant remember how I got it.

pinkii 11-04-2010 05:19 AM

I've only managed to break my pinky bone on my left hand. I can still bend it but not very far.
Funny thing is, I think it would've been a whole lot better if my parents listened to me when I said I needed to go to a doctor. But NOOO - they figured I would be better off with a makeshift splint. D<

YamiSora 11-04-2010 05:54 AM

Sora has sprained a few ankles here and there, but Sora has never broken a bone 8DD
Sora's moms happy about that because we have more money for Sora's edumacation XDD

I remember one year I either broke or sprained the baby toe on my right foot while running up the stairs. Then another time I fell down on some cement and hurt my knee. That's not really a sprain or whatnot, but it was a massive bruise. Another time recently it was my right ankle. It still hurts. I've hurt myself a lot in my life... :P

Mystic 11-06-2010 08:12 PM

I think I broke a toe at one point. I never went to the doctors for it though since I had good pain meds already and they really do not do anything for toes. I just could not walk on it much for a few months. I also sprained my ankle once when I was younger. One of my legs fell into a hole just big enough for my leg to get through. It was covered by leaves so I couldn't see it until I fell in it. Other than that, I am surprised I never broke a finger or anything else because I fall off of things and slam my body into doors all the time.

Twisted Insanity 11-06-2010 08:38 PM

I've never broken or sprained anything, but I have dislocated both of my shoulders.

Car'a'Carn 11-07-2010 04:27 AM

Twisted Insanity - Both?! What did you do?!

I sprained my ankle really bad when I was a kid. My parents thought it might be broken but it wasn't luckily! Though my sister did fall on (and break) my leg when I was like a year and a half old. I have a toe I broke pretty good while slack lining. Oh! and I broke my right collar bone clean in two while snowboarding. That was the most painful that I can remember. >.<!

ThatCrazyB!tch 11-08-2010 05:13 PM

ouch sounds painful.
i've twisted my ankle about two summers ago. i was drinking with friends and 3 of us left. i had my bike. we met some people on the road and stopped to talk to em. i had to turn my bike around. i didnt get off the bike which i should have. i turned around slow then i turned too sharp and fell over. it was soo funny. then i had to lend the bike to my friend cuz he forgot somthing at the party. so the other girl and i sat on some grass, and my foot already started to swell. so the next two weeks i was hobbling around the house. i had to use a chair to put my knee on and use the chair to walk around. it sucked. so i spent the last 2 weeks of summer in my house.

Kid Disaster 11-09-2010 09:57 PM

Ouch! Hope it stops hurting you soon!

I've sprained both of my ankles several times, and both of my knees (at once!). Not fun. I've only broken two bones, but they happened at the same time. Both bones in my forearm snapped when I fell off of the monkey bars as a kid. Hurt like crap, and since the first doctor put my cast on wrong, I had to get them surgically re-broken to fix it. -_-

Car'a'Carn 11-10-2010 05:38 AM

Man... And I thought I was accident prone! You guys have done way more stuff than me! XD

Crimson Pixie 11-10-2010 07:19 PM

hmm let's see.. i've jammed the last three fingers on my left hand (all at the same time too), i've broken my pinky and jammed the index finger of my right hand. I've messed up both my knees, sprained my left hip, sprained my right ankle and broken my left, and i've broken a couple foot bones of my left foot. oh and i'm missing the tip of my left index finger. i get into a lot of things.. >.>;;

Keyori 11-10-2010 08:26 PM

I broke my arm when I was 2. I fell off of a picnic table. 8D

Car'a'Carn 11-10-2010 10:10 PM

Crimson Pixie - Holy... Crap... What are you, a stunt double??

Kalium 11-10-2010 11:09 PM

I sprained my right ankle twice. One time I was dancing and I didn't look where I was stepping. It swelled and the swollen are got as big as an egg the next day. I had to take a taxi even though the school was actually quite close to my house. It was painful and embarrassing. The other time was just more recent, and it happened suddely. I slipped on wet ground. Everyone was like "What in the world happened to you?"

Crimson Pixie 11-10-2010 11:17 PM

@Car'a'Carn -- err.. no.. i'm an artist ;-; but for real, i'm just extremely clumsy >.< andd sometimes i don't have the best ideas on things to do >.>
