Axel slumped down in his seat and hit the table to let the cooks know they were ready. The king didn't eat at the table in the mornings, he preferred to sleep in and eat lunch later. Then second lunch. Then third. Then dinner...
"Fruit this time. Not that wierd mashed stuff you brought last time!" He called out then slid a finger across the table and he brought his eyes up to Sora's and realized... they weren't his. He knew this because day after day he despised Sora but now that he acted funny there was something in him that... wanted to pull Sora close. And there was something in those eyes that screamed he wasn't Sora. And he'd find some way to prove it. "Do you enjoy fencing?" He asked, running his thumb across his lip, waiting for their food. |
Roxas sat patiently at the table for the food to come, his stomach twisting from hunger. Which surprised him. He didn't normally eat breakfast.. So maybe because he had woken up so early, that was why he was hungry now. He glanced idly around the room until his gaze finally came upon Axel. He raised an eyebrow lightly at the seemingly random question. Did Sora enjoy fencing? He hoped not because he had no idea how to. "... Sure." he said, not sure if it was the right answer.
Sure was a strange answer for someone to say if it is a yes or no question. He tilted his head and sighed. Sora did as he recalled. And he was rather good at it too. "What's your horses name?" He asked and leaned forward a bit, eying the male. There was most definitely something different with him.
Roxas froze slightly. What was with all the sudden questions? He thought back to the notes Sora had given him... What was the horses name?... "..Bulls-eye..." Roxas said, pretty confident that was what it was. If not, he'd have to think of an excuse on why he said the wrong name.
Axel honestly didn't know Sora's horses name... But he seemed confident. Damn, how was he supposed to find out. "Do you remember when you were five... After the yule festival and we were both in the forest?" He asked, giving a leading question. He didn't know how this person was going to reply to him, it just didn't make sense anymore. He wasn't sure what was going on.
"....No. That was a long time ago." Roxas said. How was he supposed to know. Sora didn't give him any info on things that happened that long ago because they were irrelevant. He just really hoped it wasn't something he was supposed to know, like maybe why Axel choose to pick on Sora because of what happened there. Or something else. He just wished these questions would stop.
"When you were five you were sick in the infirmary the entire yule festival. And I had to sit with you instead of joining the festivities. You basically took my entire year away that year... I know Sora would remember having to spend months with me. Who. Are. You?" He asked as his food came out. He stuck a peach beneath his lips and sunk his teeth deep into the fruit.
A sinking feeling grew in the pit of Roxas's stomach. That probably should have been something Sora should have mentioned. He dropped his gaze to the table, staring blankly at the food for a second. "..I'm Sora." he said, his voice low. Why was Axel being so determined to figure out what was different about him? Why couldn't he have just left him alone?
"Yeah, and I'm Princess Mindy. I just want to know if Sora is safe. A part of my job is to make sure he's safe, and if you have done anything to him you will be exiled... or executed. Whichever seems fitting." Axel said and then slipped a grape into his mouth. It pissed him off that this guy lied so well. But Axel could see it, could see behind those... marvelous eyes. He knew that this wasn't Sora.
The sinking feeling grew in Roxas's stomach. Should he just tell him? If anyone found out later, that could make his punishment worse. He bit his lip and took a deep breath before glancing at Axel. "... Sora's fine.. You shouldn't worry about him.." he muttered, figuring this would be best. He'll take whatever punishment he knew he was going to be recieving and get it over with... Just as long as he didn't have to die.
"That's good, I prefer you over him anyway. You're more interesting." Axel took another bite of his peach and glanced at the male. "Don't be so nervous, eat. No reason to be skinny as a stick." He said and rolled his eyes. This was probably one of Sora's running away ideas. Find a boy that looks sooo much like him and switch places. It probably would have worked if Axel didn't pay so much attention to the boy. The sudden attraction out of nowhere was also a hint.
Roxas sat there, confused. Wasn't he going to be getting in trouble now? Why was Axel being so calm about this? Well... At least it didn't look like he was going to be getting the death penalty. He took a bite of the food in front of him and frowned lightly at the man in front of him. "I'm not as skinny as a stick." he said, always hating when people made fun of his weight or height. He dropped his gaze back down to his plate as he took another bite.
"A twig is smaller, I could have been more insulting. I'm guessing he's in town then? Could you tell him he has to be at the meeting next month, I don't want to train you in what to say. Or is this like a vacation for him and he'll be back in a few days?" Axel asked and finished his meal. "From now on, if you have questions, just ask. No reason to get an innocent person killed."
Roxas shot a glare at Axel when he heard the twig comment, but if faded quickly from his face. "Well.. We didn't really get a time period set for when he was supposed to be back." he said, shrugging lightly, taking a few more bites of his meal. "I guess whenever he wants to come back I'll leave." But his stomach twisted uncomfortably and he pushed his plate away. What could he possibly have to be doing that would end up getting someone killed? He really hoped it didn't end up coming to that.
"I was talking about someone finding out about you and getting you killed." He said seeing the look on his face. "Well, we'll have to make a trip into town sometime soon to talk to him. "Please, just... Act like Sora, you did pretty well during class, quiet, paid attention, but he's always been polite around me when others are around with bite when we're alone. Act as you wish when it's just you and I." He said and then smiled. "But the maids see and hear everything. Be careful. Also, you take long walks after lunch, that tend to make you late for class." He said before standing to head to his room.
The feeling in his stomach seemed to disappear slighlty as he nodded. "Yeah. Alright." he said, standing as well. He had only eaten about half of his plate, but he didn't find himself to be too hungry at the moment. He was glad Sora enjoyed taking walks. It was actually something that he enjoyed as well and it was normally around lunchtime when he would do it. He bit his lip for a second before finally lifting his gaze to Axel. "Um... Where do I go now?" he asked, not having the list with him right this moment. Sure. He could just go get it, but he figured it'd just be easier to ask.
"You... I think you take a bath in your room then you do whatever, hang out I guess until lunch. After that you take a walk. Then classes, then dinner. Don't forget where you sit." He said then smiled. "Your room is that way." he teased and pointed down the hallway. "You're really not used to royalty... Hmmm, come to my room tonight, alright? It's 3 doors down from yours on the opposite side of the hall."
Roxas nodded. That sounded easy enough... But what was the point of taking a class so early in the morning just to have the next one after lunch? That didn't make any sense... But whatever. Maybe he could try to get a nap in before he had to lunch. He crossed his arms and pouted for a second. "I know where my room is." he said, glaring at Axel for a half-second. But if faltered when he realized he was only trying to help. He nodded again slowly. "Yeah.. Alright. I guess I could go."
Axel had to admit... the pout was fucking adorable. "What's your name?" He asked before the male could get away. He smiled, a genuine one that he was sure he'd never given Sora. He spun to fully look at him and finally took him all in. He was strikingly much like Sora, but now... Now he could see the difference. His stomach was flat but toned and his re-- well everything was nice. And his lips pouted a little more and his eyes were beautiful. How'd he not notice all these factors?
"My name?..." Roxas looked around the room quickly to make sure noone was within listening distance. When he seen that he could speak freely, he turned his attention back to Axel. He was momentarily stunned by his smile though. Noone smiled at him like that... Well. Except his mother after he'd been gone for a long time. "...My name is Roxas." he said finally, his voice quiet as his gaze dropped quickly to the floor.
Axel nodded and headed to his own room, letting the name soak in. Roxas. Roxas... Roxas, the more beautiful, intriguing Sora. He grinned and nodded, something to add to his journal. One day, someone would come across his works and he would be found to be the most sinliest of all kings-hands just because of his lusting over the imaginary prince. The fake prince. Whose beauty was... unmeasurable.
Roxas lifted his gaze as Axel walked away and he stood there a few minutes more. 'Where was I going again?... Right! Bath.' he thought, turning and heading towards his room, smiling polietly whenever he passed someone. Why was he being so disorientated because of one guy? It wasn't like him! He had to keep better control of his responses to people or he'd never be able to stay focused long enough to be able to pass as Sora. He vowed to never let himself get that way again... At least, not until after he leaves the castle and switches back with Sora.
Axel slid into his own bath, probably warmer than Roxas' because Axel was much more demanding in his needs. He'd always been more demanding, yet always more personable. Until now. Roxas was so very personable, that Axel wanted to grab him and kiss him so hard he relived the mans life through the passion. He flushed as he thought that and he scrubbed the dirt and grime off og him and out of his hair. He then smiled. "Tilda?! Can you get out my riding clothes?" He would go on a ride today, it seemed like a good plan. Just to ease his mind.
Roxas had thouroughly enjoyed his bath. It was a lot nicer than the baths he had to take back at his house. He almost didn't want to get up. But he forced himself out of the tub and dried off. He dressed in simple clothes and lied down on the bed, wanting to take a nap. But once he laid down, he found himself wide-awake. He sighed and figured he might as well go take a walk, maybe clear his mind. He ran a hand through his still slighlty-damp hair as he made his way through the halls, looking for a way out of the building.
Axel whistled when he saw Roxas to get his attention. He looked a little lost. "Come riding with me? It'll keep you out of the eyes of those who may figure out about you." He said and held open one of the doors to the outside. He waited paitiently, glad he had someone to talk to now, because lord knew Sora was a dud to talk to.
