How cold is it for everyone else?

I just moved to Maryland, but my friend that lives in New York says it's unusually cold for this time of year...

Anyone else sitting in bed with whatever warm food/drink they can find, trying to stay warm?

Actually it's been unusually warm out where I live. It was freezing a few days ago, but now it's going to be in the 50's all week :3 (or at least as far as I remember XD) *lives in Nevada*

Cold.

I'm sitting on the couch with a blanket and a sweater on and my laptop on my lap to keep me warm. According to my computer, it's fifty two degrees outside, which isn't so bad. But I don't like being cold. I'm in Florida so I don't have it as bad as other people. But what I find a bit silly is that every winter I see people post Facebook statuses complaining about how cold it is and how it's "not supposed to be this cold in Florida" and all I can think is, what do you expect? It's winter. Winter happens in Florida. You people have lived here for a while, it's not like you just moved here expecting Florida to be year round summer. Last winter was unusually cold, even for us, some places in Florida even got snow, and you people are posting this stuff again this year? It hasn't even dropped down to as cold as it was last year. It's been getting into the thirties at night, but it always does this. Always. Every year. Yeah. I don't actually say anything to any of these people but I just don't get how people are surprised by this every year.

well i live in Yuma, Arizona so it is like 70 degrees outside now.. I miss having cold weather in the winter.. I love being able to curl up with a hot drink and a good book!!! I am not so sure that is going to happen while we live here...

Demoncat 12-07-2010 11:16 PM

I like in Michigan and oh my god its like hell is freezing over and its not even the worst yet. I really hate cold weather, I mostly just don't like the wind biting at my face. I'm fine with just still cold weather with big fluffy snowflake coming down but the weather has clearly not been like that lately.

Hadouken 12-07-2010 11:22 PM

ITS FREEZING COLD~ You guys don't know what winter is until you've live in Manitoba Canada >.< !

Captain Pains 12-07-2010 11:27 PM

It's cold. Very cold here in North Carolina.
It just snowed on Saturday but it quickly melted away by late Sunday afternoon. The heat is on in my house 24/7, and my room is the warmest because I keep my door closed. c:

It usually does get this cold in winter, but there's a cold front coming for us and thus it's colder then usually, just by a bit though.

jellysundae 12-08-2010 12:02 AM

I am in bed at the moment xD The UK's had some very bad snow (for us), and while it's warming up again now it's still lying thickly anywhere that gets no direct sunlight, I want some rain!

Today at 4pm it was -2.5°c (27.5°f) when I took my dog out for a walk. When I took him out again at 9pm, it was about -4°c
It's about half past midnight now, so it's probably around -6° or colder now. I'm not going out to find out!

It's been a two pairs of socks kind of a day.

Our house is in a valley, so we've had no sunshine at all for a while now. The sky's just been pure white all day. Very pretty, but I miss the sunshine a little. I hope it's having fun wherever it's gone to, and I hope it comes back to visit sometime soon!

It snowed last week, which was pretty. I woke up on the 2nd to this view from my window :

And our BBQ area at the back of the house was like this :

I don't think we'll be having a BBQ anytime soon! lol

Now it's just too cold to snow. I feel sorry for the wildlife. The ducks have moved out of the pond (which is frozen solid) and into the hedges.

I live in Arizona and it's like.. 70 degrees out today. c:

Cerise 12-08-2010 12:47 AM

I really can't complain. Compared to a lot of parts of the US, "cold" here is nothing. In California, we consider 70 degrees as pretty chilly, and 50s is just cold to a lot of people. xD It's been below freezing point during the peak of winter, but not often during the day. I'm envious of those who live in the snowy regions, although every time I say that, those same people tell me it's not all "winter wonderland fun" at all; a nuisance if anything.

sweet_serender159 12-08-2010 12:53 AM

I live in Australia and its actually quite warm down here thanks to our summers when you all have winters XD
but its raining like all hell!

Sparklypoo 12-08-2010 01:26 AM

I so wish it was cold here... D:

Here in brazil it's effing hot,because it's summer. D'':

It is supposed to reach ten degrees on the Fahrenheit scale tonight from where I am. I'm dressed in overly thick clothing and I have a decent supply of hot chocolate; I'm all set. Plus, I haven't been in school all week due to snow, so it's a good thing.

Thoth Star 12-08-2010 07:43 PM

Not too cold, right now its around 45f... It will be around 20f where I'm skiing, cause of the high elevation.

CADFND 12-08-2010 08:53 PM

Right now, I just finished off my cup of hot-chocolate and am currently curled up under a blanket with my laptop on my lap. It kicks quite a bit of heat when it's working, so it keeps me warm to keep doing a lot of things! :) I live in NY too. It IS unusually cold for this time of year. >.> And I believe that there is already over two feet of snow on the ground, and for a few days, it was going non-stop! XD It looks like somebody dumped molten marshmallow over my neighborhood. And then it went 'poof'. My mom had to DIG out our car... I can't really believe how cold it is for being so early in the winter... >.>

LUNAticAlchemy 12-08-2010 10:23 PM

Cold is an understatement here. I live in North Dakota, and it's ten degrees outside, with snow everywhere. WE had snow for Thanksgiving, and it hasn't gone away since, it only melts a litle and then freezes over, so that I can go outside, take one step and fall straight on mah tooshie.

Miss Eevee 12-09-2010 12:26 AM

not cold at all, considering it's summer.

Enzeru 12-09-2010 02:14 AM

I live in the deep south and I'm freezing.

-The Half-Blood Princess- 12-09-2010 03:25 AM

It was down to like five degrees here earlier this morning. -_-

Draciolus 12-09-2010 04:03 AM

...You,ve all got it easy. It was roughly -15 when I got up this morning to go to work. Mind you...being in Canada, thats nothing really. Early November it was -20-ish for a while.

Chickie Nuggs 12-09-2010 05:11 AM

It really depends on the days. They are pretty wonky for me temperature-wise. I'm inside a lot of the time, so I usually deal with the house being in the low 60s. The lowest I've ever gone before turning on the heat is 58 degrees. The fact that we have hard-wood floor panels doesn't really help out much.

Bearzy 12-09-2010 07:04 AM

It's stinking hot... But it is summer! *dances* I love my country!

Synyster Nytemare 12-09-2010 07:20 AM

im super cold and dont want to get out of bed. and i live in florida!

jellysundae 12-09-2010 07:25 AM

Was -4 here last night, but I'm not allowed to complain about the cold because I have a friend who lives in the north of Norway, he's actually within the arctic circle, and the thermometer seems stuck on -20 for him right now
