Tattoos!
Have one, getting one, really want one? This is the thread for you!
I've been debating whether or not to get so many geeky tattoos it's not even funny. I'm thinking of getting Mewtwo and Mew tattooed on my left shoulder. I'm also getting a tattoo of the 'sheep crate' from The Little Prince, for sure. |
I want a tattoo, in the far future. On my ankle, and it will probably be a cute elephant.
What's that sheep crate? Google doesn't seem to give me good images. |
Oh? Why an elephant?
Here is the sheep box. http://planetross.files.wordpress.co...5/mouton41.jpg I like that it is simple- fancy detailed tattoos like dragons and flaming skulls aren't my thing. |
I want either a moogle or a cactuar on my inner right ankle.
|
I really do want a tattoo but...
I'm a total chicken. XD I am not exactly the kind of person to take pain very well, so if I do manage to get the tattoo I want, it will be very small and probably on one of the least painful parts of my body. What it will be, though, I am not sure. |
I'd love to get one on the side of my torso and/or behind my ear because I find those areas look nice and are easy to hide from my family :P I heard that ribs are one of the most painful spots though but if I'll probably not care once I've got the design all planned out
|
Ribs can be painful, but it's mostly the area around it, which is where all your tender intestines and suchnsuch are, that hurts the most. I've heard that it's better to tattoo on bone for less pain, the space behind your ears is pretty good for this (but you can apparently hear the needle really loudly and its super annoying, heh.)
The space behind the ear is so small! I could get a pokeball there, I guess? |
I have two tattoos... I have a cross on my left inner ankle and a flower on my right hip... i am not sure if i even want to get more....
|
Tattoos sound really cool.... But there's no way that I can ever get one that isn't a fake. I HATE needles. >.> I really liked the airbrush tattoos that I got one time. ^^ 'Peace' and 'Love' in Japanese. ^^ I really liked them a lot. I felt bad that they practically washed away in the next week, though.
|
I know tats are the NEW fad... but I find them unattractive and I will never get one.
I also find them unattractive on women, women have prefectly soft, gorgeous skin and it upsets me when they go around marring it with ugly doodles. My ex-bf had a few tats, one of a parrot on his shoulder (cuz secretly he is a pirate!) and I thought it worked for him, so I think it really depends ont he person... |
Tattoos are meant to be expressive and aesthetic. I'm planning on getting quite a handful of tattoos, from quotes to flowers, to stars and childhood cartoon characters. But everything I'm having tattooed means something personal, it's not just "Oh! That looks cute, I want it! *squee*".
As for tattoos on women, I don't think it's necessarily degrading. If there's a story or something personal behind it, I often find tattoos enhance the self-expression of people. But this is just my opinion. *shrugs* |
I have a not-equal-to sign on the middle of my upper back (below the neckline) and the kanji for sugar on my right ribcage.
I do plan to get more. The signs for "therefore" and "eternal" underneath the not-equal-to sign, and "はアメリカの中毒です"(is the American addiction/poison) as a line of text going down my left shoulder blade. I used to want some kind of cherry tree, but I couldn't create a good design and thought it wouldn't carry enough meaning for me. I do think I might just get cherry blossom flowers and petals in different places on my body. |
@IkuAki, have you thought about going to a tattoo parlour with a basic idea/sketch of what you want? You could see if the tattoo artist(s) would be willing to draw something up for you, or if you have a friend who's good with drawing.
|
I've thought about it, yes. I've even looked at other pictures for inspiration, but it's something I want to create on my own. My "belief" is that if I can't create it, I don't need to have it. Keeps me from just getting tattoos all willy-nilly. :P

Win for Pokemon! lol XD
I tend to hide my inner nerd. I have an emo teddy bear on my left thigh, and I have plans to get Nibbler on my right thigh. I'm so excited! >w< Futurama defines my childhood. <3 |
tgk_13:
How did the thigh feel? |
@tgk_13: That's awesome! One of my friends, Katya, is getting a big fat T-Rex on her thigh. :D
@IkuAki: That makes sense. I have a list of like, 10+ tattoos that I want and I'm like "This would look nice here, that would look nice there", but in the end, I want everything to look balanced and not just as if ink were thrown on my skin. |
@TheJupiterAlien ; lol I was debating whether or not to get Reptar instead of Nibbler. XD
|
@tgk_13: That's a tough choice. Reptar's like "RAWR! I am ferocious! But cute! :3", but Nibbler's all like "I'm cute and have fangs and I'm like a baby, I'm just so irresistible!"
|
@TheJupiterAlien ; LOL "I'm cute, and I poo dark matter! RAWR!" XD
|
@tgk_13: Exactly! There's also the possibility of getting one of them on your thigh, and then the other somewhere else? My tattoos will be on my wrists, forearm, shoulders/shoulder blades, and possibly my inner ankle or top of my foot. And maybe down one of the sides of my stomach.
|
I don't want a tattoo for myself, but I love tattoo art! Tattoos are amazing. =]

Quote:
My first tattoo was on my foot. DX WORST idea EVER. Then I got one on my forearm, which, so far, has been the least painful. Then my thigh, which made me twitch really bad. My last tattoo was on my ankle, which hurt less than my foot but more than my thigh. Don't know how much help that is. lol ---------- Quote:
|
@Jupiter: Yeah. I definitely don't want it to just end up as a mass of color somewhere on my body.. XD
@tgk: That's helpful. I think maybe I'll get a petal or blossom on my ankle. Eventually... Ha~ |
@tgk_13: Ah, offices are a downer.
@IkuAki: Riiight!? I'm going to make sure all of my tattoo ideas are set in stone, and then get them. At least that's what I have planned for now. When I get my tattoos, I'll have to get them out-of-normal-site because I'm working on becoming a teacher. My friend Katya got a wolf made of Celtic knots, a design she drew herself. She got it down basically half of her back - four hours, and just one sitting. It was intense. The ones I'm getting will hopefully be really small, except the forget-me-nots to symbolize my grandmother. And the rainbow stars for my mom. :T |
