The landscape would have been a wonderful white setting, if it hadn't been for the soldiers trampling all over the small grove. Trees stood out like roots stretching towards the heavens, icicles dangling form some of the smaller branches. It was a clear night, the star visible above even through the torch light. Shadows danced as cloaked figures treded back and forth in the snow. Laying powders in the snow, sketching shapes and measuring lines.

A lone figure set watching through a thick hood. He was the only one who looked remotely warm. the soldiers in all their metal armor were freezing as the metal kept them cold. The robed figures did a little better but could still be seen shivering within the thicker fabric.

The man sat proudly on his horse, a tall and large figure. It was as if he had cloaked himself up with the night sky. It was more than just black cloth, it seemed dark.

He nodded to one of the men, calling him over by the smallest measures.

"My lord?" the robed man called up to him, bowing before the figure, his voice respectful and servile.

"How goes the preparations? " He asked. his voice as deep and dark as his cloak.
