So Kawaii You Want to Kill it.

You know what i mean- those series that are so fluffy and adorable and sparkly cute that you can barely stand them. Unless of course they're a guilty pleasure.

I'll start this off with my personal favorite, Jewel Pet.
http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:A...4dDMCxhKZPuHEw

^That is not in fact a japanese version of Lisa Frank. It is a magical bunny. Any anime with a magical talking bunny as it's mascot is bound to be.. err... lighthearted, but Jewel Pet is basically like taking the fluffiest parts of sailor moon and mixing them in a cotton candy machine with only the cutest pokemon. Yes, there are bishies, and a merchandise line to rival Pokemon.

So! If it's TOO cute, post it here!

(also if you have any links to subbed Jewel Pet episodes I would love them, they are remarkably hard to find past episode 2.)

Not as cute as the bunny but...

Many years ago I actually used to like that show XD
Now I look back and think "WTF was I thinking?" before sitting in front of the TV to watch Death Note.

redrabbit 12-30-2010 09:13 AM

Aww, I liked that too when I was little. I would call it "kitty sailor moon" because I kept forgetting the name... Such a dumb show. One of the girls had like, dolphin powers, right? So silly.

Codette 12-30-2010 03:15 PM

Tokyo Mew Mew, or as 4kids called it Mew Mew Power... I still watch it...

My currant anime addiction is soo cute I wanna kill it, but I can't because I can't stop watching it! *cries* Its called Shugo Chara!

Demoncat 12-30-2010 07:35 PM

Shugo Chara is really adorable, I liked it at first but the fanbase killed it for me, I've never been a fan of animes/mangas with a large fanbase for some odd reason.

I personally think that Axis Powers Hetalia can be pretty ****ing adorable at times. XD

Look at that adorable blushing face! XD

Codette 12-30-2010 07:36 PM

OMG! *squee* TOOO CUTEEEEEE!!!! *snuggles it to death*

She had porpoise powers, not dolphin, silly. I still remember her name. It was Bridget, I think XD
Wow, can't believe I actualy still remember that.

And, yeah, Syraannabelle, I watched the Mew Mew Power version. I blame that show for my current fixation with catgirls (or 'nekos' as some say) because I was at such an impressionable age when I began watching it.

redrabbit 12-31-2010 08:19 PM

What kind of powers do porpoises even have?!

Also sometimes Ouran highschool host club slips into this category, but it's so shameless about fanservice that it kind of works...

Bearzy 01-01-2011 08:16 AM

Aww, I love Hani/Hunny from Ouran (it changed depending on scanlators I think) he's absolutely adorable!

redrabbit 01-01-2011 12:59 PM

Oh he is my favorite character too, by far. Tamaki can get kind of annoying, but shota characters are always awesome.

angelbabe1 01-01-2011 09:32 PM

Hetalia: Axis Powers.........
that i one of the only moe animes that SHOULD NOT BE MADE!!
like... really.... its to cute and girly to be about fighting contries!!! wth...

..............no....

takohako 01-01-2011 10:06 PM

@redrabbit - is this what you are looking for? I just searched the website I normally use to watch anime, but as I don't know the series in question, I can't say if that's it. Well, at least i tried to help.

As for my cavity-inducing guilty pleasures... I'd say any series of magicial girl genre. I haven't seen Sailor Moon as a little kid, I read the manga when I was older and found it strangely enjoyable, even though I barely made it through some chapters (too... childish... sometimes) Nowdays, I tend to experience it... after watching a good portion of serious business series, I just feel the need for some middle school girls to shout out some stupid-sounding spells and destroy their enemies with girly-looking weapons.

Romance series used to be my guilty pleasure, but now I'm pretty open with liking them, providing the characters aren't totally stereotypical... then again, I loved Kaichou wa Maid-sama...

I'm not too fond of Hetalia Axis Powers but that's because I've had my fair share of experience with its fangirls >>;

The manga is actually really good, the anime is an abomination though.

Most things "cute" and "kawaii" as manga get murdered when they go anime. :(

Cranky Toast 01-02-2011 03:00 AM

Hunny from OHSHC.
I don't want to kill him though. xD

And monstahh is right, the manga is actually pretty good.
It's 4kids that made it into that... awful thing.

Demoncat 01-02-2011 03:37 AM

The manga is ALWAYS better. It has more plot, and goes into more depth about things. The anime for TMMP was pretty good though. :)

I agree Cranky Toast, 4kids ruined it. I honestly don't like 4kids that much since they ruin alot of animes when they dub them, I prefer Funimation to dub them. XD

One series i've always found really adorable is Chobits. At first I thought it was a bit weird and perverted at times but I got over that and just realized how adorable the series is! XD

http://www.hiumi.it/anime_manga_file...s_chii0034.jpg

Also another Clamp series thats ****ing adorable is Card Captor Sakura.

http://userserve-ak.last.fm/serve/252/248759.jpg

Clamp makes their characters so adorable and at the same time so elegant and beautiful, its crazy. But yeah I really think alot of Clamp's stuff is adorable beyond belief. XD

redrabbit 01-02-2011 04:16 AM

Oh gosh, Chobits IS too adorable sometimes. Clamp's whole adult body/child personality characters is really creepy when you think about it, I guess. It seems odd to assume that all naive 'childlike' characters should be so adorable and trusting, when little kids aren't necessarily so sweet in real life.

@takohako- I definitely agree that sugar-sweet animes are needed to balance out all the super serious stuff. It's like pop dance music or something that's good just for fun. Besides, all the 'manly' animes with mecha and dudes-with-big-swords have just as much potential to be super silly.

monstahh` 01-02-2011 07:16 AM

Funimation is definitely one of the better dubbing production companies.

4kids should be murdered. In a firey pit of anime hell.

takohako 01-02-2011 09:46 AM

Ooh, Chobits. I really like this series, even though I've only read the manga and not so long ago, I found it really sweet. I still need to watch the anime, I've been planning it since I've read the manga.

Your comments and stuff I've heard in the internets since I'm using it make me glad I do not get to experience 4kids stuff myself. Then again, if we had more anime dubbing companies...

A great example of a "manly" anime with mecha being as over the top, super silly and "WHAT THE..." inducing anime series would be the currently airing Star Driver: Kagayaki no Takuto.

I'll just leave this here

Reason why I watch this series? I'm curious what else would happen in a series where mecha have high heeled shoes and the main character has a Sailor Moon-like transformation

Haha, I love that anime, every-time I see his transformation I can't help but say "spectacular hip action" XD Sadly though I kinda got bored with it and stopped after episode 4, its a pretty adorable anime though. XD

Did you know the main character of that series is voiced by the guy who did Tamaki? XD

takohako 01-02-2011 04:22 PM

Yeah, I have no idea how anyone can still take this series seriously after seeing this XD

Is he? *checks* Oh yeah, it is Miyano Mamoru. Somehow it doesn't surprise me at all, Miyano is in pretty much every bigger anime series now. He's like a male version of Aya Hirano.

To be honest, when I was little and I first saw Gundam Wing I thought it was about a girl robot, because the main gundam looks like it's wearing red ballet shoes.

http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:k...ingart.jpg&t=1 <----- See? Totally dancing shoes..

Moon Phase is my current drug of choice (other than Rozen Maiden, which I suppose could also fall into that catagory) ... but then I'm kind of addicted to things so cute you'd be smart to stab them hehehehe!

Flink 01-24-2011 06:43 AM

Flink is actually shocked no one has mentioned "Bottle Fairy" or "Bottle Fairies" yet. It's about four fairies who're learning about Japanese culture and quite often misinterpret it.

Azumanga Daioh is adorable too, to be honest.

For me......it's Schrodinger from Hellsing. He's so unbearably cute, I could die. No lie. D: Except that I couldn't kill him- he'd just come back to life. Proven fact.
