More Gold!
I have a suggestions for winter. And I suppose could be used in every season. I think that every day, every person on Menewsha that participates in games, forums, blogs, or in any menewsd.ha activity should be rewareded with 100 gold just for helping out.
|
People that participate in the games and forums are already rewarded for their efforts. And there's a reason why people aren't rewarded gold for posting blogs.
|
I've gone ahead and moved this thread into our Site Feedback forum. Please remember that this is where you'll want to post any suggestions, comments, or criticisms about Menewsha.
|
I don't like this idea considering it will cause inflation. I like the gold earning system and think that the gold you get from posting and from games is plenty. The system here just takes a bit to get used to.
|
I think that's pretty needless, gold isn't hard to make, and nothing is REALLY expensive except for a few rare items, like from '07 when mene was new and there were only a few users.
If your really were helping mene out, you'd have the gold to show for it, because you'd be an active poster or buy the CIs and sell them. It also leads open a door to a system that could easily be abused. Someone could spend 5 seconds writing a crappy blog, makes 1 short spammy post, and then plays a round of a game, and gets 100 gold. That doesn't seem fair to the people who work hard to earn their money, does it? |
Okay, so I get it. No one thinks we should get more gold. But I do.
|
Why do you think we need more gold, exactly?
We've all listened reasons as to why not...So what exactly do you want all this extra "free" gold for? |
because these items are very expensive, and with a game limit it's next to impossible to earn enough gold to buy nice clothes. And posting for gold? You get like ten gold per post. Maybe your a game master, but I'm not and I can't afford hardly anything. But with your 1351.14 gold I can see golds not an issue for yourself. So unless your having a gold issue speak for yourself please.
|
I've been saving this gold for about 3 days now, actually. :/ And I don't even play the games.
There's no reason to be rude, I was just trying to be helpful, but with that attitude? Nevermind! |
@ Kitty - :x No one started with more benefits than you did. So if you're having a gold issue, its because you haven't put in the time and effort to get the gold. Not to mention that if you notice our gold, you'd notice that it disproves your point that people are unable to get money and/or afford items.
|
I have put in plenty of time in menwsha. Earning gold may be easy for people who constantly post, but it's diffucult to earn real gold from posting. And with the game gold limit, okay yes theres a reason for that. I understand that people would just play games non stop. But I think that there should be a limit of gold that can be earned for each individual game. And if some people just wanna play games so what? Let them. There will still be people posting and doing other things. and it would be less stressful on staff members because there won't have to watch out for as much spamming and random posts. That's just what I think. But I'm sure i will get ten people who find about a thousand faults and flaws with this.
|
There is a limit of gold that can be earned from each game play.
Menewsha is a forum community, and the forum should be the main aspect. Not games. The staff already do a wonderful job knocking out the spam, and if they miss it, there's a user there to report it and bring it to their attention. |
You can actually earn up to 30 gold a post from a well thought out post. You earn gold per character, not per post. So if you only write a sentence or two, yeah, you are not going to earn much gold. However, if you think out your post and actually type out a longer reply then you earn more gold.
If you are having problems with finding places to post, the Menewsha Nations forum is a fun place to find people to chat with, which can earn you quite a bit of gold while you meet new friends. I suggest that for most people because of the fact that once you get into a good conversation it's hard not to have fun. On another note, you have to keep in mind that gold isn't everything. Menewsha is more of a community and focuses on that. I do not post constantly and can get enough gold in a few days worth of posting for an outfit when I want to. Right now I just rather be naked. XD |
As opposed to being negative, try and look at new venues in which to gain gold. Me, I like perusing forums that bring up discussion, such as Site Feedback and Info boards, because then I can try and help people. If you can't play games, and trust me I can't either, then look for contests or charities. Mene's pretty open.
But the best suggestion I can give you, short of having lots of conversation, is to try roleplaying. I do that, and I usually earn up to 20g per post, because I'm quite detailed. A little gold here and there adds up, especially if you hang around the forums long enough. =3 |

Oh, I know. I just didn't use it as a point of reference since the threadmaker seems to find posting a hard way to make gold, da. X3 Plus naturally, I average about 20-22, because sometimes you just can't come up with enough rp post without making it a padded pillowmess that isn't quite necessary, even if it is detailed. XD

Well I just would like to know why there are no rewards for posting blogs. Is it because it would affect menewsha economy or what? I mean yea oka if it affects menewsha negatively then I am totally againest it. But I would just like to know. And okay yes i was a bit snarky and for that I appoligize. I am just having the toughest time adjusting to the menewsha works. It is very unique, and that is what makes it such a great site, and that I am not complaining. I just feel that the gold earning is ver diffucult for many members of menewsha and that I agree that if something is hurtful towards menewsha then I am againest it. but if it has no negative affect againest menewsha then why not give gold for posting a blog. And it doesnt even have to be a lot of gold either. It could only be .01 gold per character and many people would still appreciate this gold increase. So if anyone has any idea why there is no reward for posting blogs, please do share. I am very curious as to why there is no reward for posting blogs.
|
There is no gold reward for blogs because then the blogs section would need to be moderated the same way the forums are for spam; etc.
|
Well than hire new ones. There a hunreds are menewsha members and almost everyone of them would love to monitor blogs. I know that because I have personally seen conversations between current moderators and menewsha members, of the members asking to be admins and moderators. So I am not saying that that should be done, but i am also saying that it could be done and that it would make some very happy menewsha members.
|
Sure, everybody wants to be a mod, mostly because it's a huge fame/status boost (OMG,I'MAMOD, you need to listen to me, hahaaaa). However, as I'm pretty sure the staff has said before, moderators are only appointed (not hired because they don't get paid, they are volunteers) after thorough discussion. You need to prove yourself an exemplary member, with usually not even one bad outburst. The staff is committed to making sure each mod is ready for the responsibility of being part of the staff and that they can represent menewsha and the staff well.
Just because you want to be part of staff, doesn't mean you should be part of staff. Becoming a moderator is a huge responsibility. Each action is viewed as an action of the staff as a whole. The staff just can't take volunteers. Besides, would you really like to spend hours of your day sifting through thousands of blog posts? It's not exactly fun. Especially with some of the stuff posted. Plus that wouldn't be your only job. You'd also have to sift through forums and deal with users well. Most users (I think) don't know the extent of the mod's responsibilities and work load. I'm not even going to pretend I know everything. But it's not something to be taken lightly. |
As someone who is a former moderation staff on another site, moderation isn't just boring , a lot of the time you are also subjected to really really horrible things like bestiality, guro and even child porn (which is some cases you not only have to remove from the site, but report to the authorities, and THAT believe me is a bitch).
You not only have to be patient and able to explain things well to people, you also have to have a strong "stomach" so to speak. |
honestly, i dont want 2 take sides, but i c ur point kitty. Better yet, y dont all new users get some free gold just 2 go get some decent clothes? and yah about just hiring random ppl from the site? Just because there r zillions of users doesnt mean u randomly just pik out who u think is good 4 the job. Cuz mayb u think tht they r wel suited 4 the job abd then u find they rlly dont do a good job. But by then probably they mightve let some things go tht they rlly shouldnt have and the whole balance is out of whack. so i agree with the more gold but not the random ppl hiring. Just saying ^^
|
I'd like to clear something up here :)
Blogs are not not moderated because we don't have enough staff, that is not the reason why no gold is earnt in them. If blogs did earn gold then they would be subject to the same rules that apply to the rest of the forum with regard to what people are and are not allowed to post. That is why they would have to be moderated. And that is why there is no gold earning, so that people are not inhibited by spamming/copy pasting/quoting rules, etc. |

That's not even touching on basically being considered an avatar of the staff and thus considered nothing more than an automaton in the hive-mind that fully supports all decisions made by everyone in the administration. Those other things you talked about, while awful, are at least exciting, definitive, and universally agreed upon by both the staff and the members as bad. |
