Why are you making that face?

Hyena 01-10-2011 05:23 AM

Because every time my flatmate comes out of his room, you can hear his dog whining at him, which I suspect is because he hasn't fed her. But if I tell him to feed her, he'll just tell me that she's not my dog, she's his dog and he'll take care of her how he wants to take care of her. >________________>

I hate to say it, but if she dies its his own damn fault and he had better not look to me for some compassion.

UHHGGHGHGGHhHH. My roommate is the same way!
He rarely even WALKS the poor thing. :(
It's basically animal abuse, but if we report him, we might get in trouble too. And he might kick us out (our names aren't on the lease). :(

So as much as I hate to say it.
my life > dog

and I can't walk her, because she wants to kill me.
She's a pitt bull and she hates me.
Well, less that she hates me, and more that I am the "alpha female" of the house, and therefor her "competition." :/ She's tried to bite me every time I've tried to walk her so I just gave up.
I don't really want to be bitten by a dog that hasn't had her shots.
/sigh

Joel's is a pit bull, too. She doesn't try to bite me, but she's a hyper little thing. Normally one of his three roommates walks her, but they've been forgetting lately and I can't help her when she's locked in his room. I even had to buy food for her because he KEPT FORGETTING, and so far the bag has yet to be opened. Its been two days since I bought it.

So. Yes.

And it pisses me off infinitely because he's always talking about these "idiots who buy a dog and then can't take care of it and have to give it up of craigstlist" and I'm THIS close to telling him that he's doing the same thing. Because he decided that he was getting the dog after we'd signed lease for an apartment on the FOURTH FLOOR of a building that doesn't allow dogs. He didn't even take care of his cat when he had her. I did. I was the one who cleaned her litter box because he kept forgetting... and then he kept saying that it was HIS CAT and HE would take care of her. So I let it go and then our apartment was full of flies because he never cleaned it. And now that he has a near fulltime job, he has the money to take care of her and he STILL relies on me to supplement for his dog. So. If it should come down to it... she might end up on craigslist, too. >>

You should be careful when posting with a single emote like that Hyena. I got an infraction when I first started here for responding with an emote. Not that I don't understand where you're comin from with your story, but I was just givin ya a heads up.

Hyena 01-10-2011 05:52 AM

That's funny, I never saw a rule posted about that. >>

-goes back to find that-

EDIT: Ah. There it is. All the way down at the bottom. I maintain that my post was not a meaningless emote based on the fact that it was meant to illicit a reaction without using words. That's my story. I stick to it. I'll keep it in mind next time.

Do it, and if he bitches or says anything about it, deny knowledge and say that there was a break in.

As much as I think having a dog in a small fourth floor apartment in a tiny room full of smoke on slave-wage pay and ungodly hours is, by default, a BAD IDEA... I don't want to put his puppy through that sort of transition, particularly considering how pit bulls are easily put into the fighting dog business.

I will be out of here soon enough, and then we can do what all the smart people do and get a kitty. Seven months, at the very most.

monstahh` 01-10-2011 06:15 AM

I want a cat, but my boyfriend is allergic. :(

Hyena 01-10-2011 06:18 AM

Aww, sad day. D=

We used to have Joel's cat (who hated everyone but Joel, and then liked everyone but Joel once he got the puppy) Patches, and then he had to give her to his mom... for which I am grateful because I didn't want flies all over the apartment. Before that, Estelle had a fluffy turkish angora named Jake who liked to lick my elbows. But Estelle had to move away and the cat went with her. So now we need another fluffy animal that isn't sequestered into one smoky room all the time.

But, contrarily, I don't want to have to get a pet knowing full well that I would be moving within the year... so its going to have to wait. u_u

monstahh` 01-10-2011 06:22 AM

Yeah, moving can be tough on pets sometimes.

Hyena 01-10-2011 06:25 AM

Yeah. u_u

But right now I'm content with my dwarf frog. He stays in his tank, eats stuff, and falls back asleep. He's not very interesting. I will get a real pet when I can afford one. xDD

Oh. Also. The dog is 8 months old and still hasn't had her shots because he either can't afford them or doesn't remember. Seriously, the whole thing is just pissing me off. I think I might start making a list of things that he does on a daily basis that grind my gears. >>

Though... he IS only 19. I suppose some of the stupidity can be excused for now.

monstahh` 01-10-2011 06:27 AM

...Yeah, I'm 19 and my asshole roommate who treats the dog like that, is 32.
:/

It's ridiculous that i'm a little more than half his age, but easily several times more responsible.

Hyena 01-10-2011 06:30 AM

I think part of Joel's issue is that he got kicked out of his family for being gay and had to grow up a lot in like... three months. And now that things are getting good again he wants to be irresponsible with his money instead of saving it like I am.

Oh, that's bullshit. 32? He should know better. Though, if you live in my town... just about no one is responsible. Ever.

monstahh` 01-10-2011 06:36 AM

Pfft. I left my family. I moved in with a boy, who then basically, though he denies it was kicking me out, it was in fact, kicking me out. I have lived on my own, paying my own rent, buying my own food, everything. I've never had money problems, but, I also don't get a pet because I know I can't afford one, and don't feel like taking care of one.

And yeah! He's a 32 year old party kid who keeps getting fired from jobs and owes thousands of dollars to the landlord. :D

fairywaif 01-10-2011 06:38 AM

My sister's boyfriend's roomate Shannon was like that. Luckily she's moved out now, but she was TERRIBLE to her poor kitties. She never cleaned their litterboxes. My sister ended up cleaning the litterboxes, but she shouldn't do that because she has a disorder where she shouldn't do too many things like that.

Hyena 01-10-2011 06:41 AM

Then Joel pretty much doesn't have an excuse except that he's dumb. xD

See... I didn't really leave my family. I just moved out, went to college, graduated, and now I'm living with my girlfriend and making plans to move further away from both our families. I always had my parents supporting me in case I ran out of money, but they encouraged me to earn the money myself... which I was glad to do because I hate feeling like I'm sapping all their money from them.

Your 32-year-old flatmate sounds like Joel's boyfriend...who I'm starting to think should pay rent since he's been here for free for a MONTH. >>

fairy: what kind of things? Like... things where she's around germs, or dust? Or is it the physical exertion?

fairywaif 01-10-2011 06:41 AM

It's the physical exertion. I think she's better on some days than others, but she seems to be getting worse. :/

Hyena 01-10-2011 06:43 AM

Eeew... yeah. I have a similar condition with the bronchitis. Unfortunately, that would require me to quit my job and get one that doesn't require me to lift 60 pounds over my head daily. >>

fairywaif 01-10-2011 06:50 AM

That would be nice. Stupid conditions.

Hyena 01-10-2011 06:53 AM

There's a joke around work that I really should stop smoking when I go into one of my coughing fits. Its funny because I'm one of the very few warehouse workers that doesn't smoke at all. xD

Hopefully, I'll be out of there soon. I don't plan on working at Walmart my entire life.

fairywaif 01-10-2011 06:59 AM

I've heard Walmart is a pretty terrible place to work.

My Mom has a coughing thing too. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a cure for it.

Hyena 01-10-2011 07:03 AM

It depends on the Walmart you're working at, but yeah... the baseline for all Walmart branches is "save money first." I mean, they do talk a lot about making sure we don't get injured and stuff, but that's so they don't have to pay workman's comp. We have a few people I get along with in the backroom, but for the most part I feel vastly overeducated for my job.

My boss admitted to cheating his way through college. The fact that he gets paid more than I do just makes me physically ill.
